Not going to lie, I like the way Amate handled herself this episode. Seems like the daredevil type that isn't afraid to take risks. It's only first episode and she gets control of a gundam mech already.

Military elements is evident in this and the technology you'd expect out of a Gundam show. Might have to get used to the art style though. Nyaan is also another character to take notice of. It's still early but I want to see character relationships develop and more lore in their universe.

It's already wild to think that we’re getting GUNDAM content in the year of our lady Aqua, but add to that the fact that THE Evangelion director and creator are involved? This thing is set up to be a massive hit. Even as a casual Gundam fan, this has easily been one of my most anticipated shows of the season.

I’ve watched a few episodes of the OG and maybe a couple of those recap movies or whatever, but that’s pretty much the extent of my Gundam experience. So technically, this is my first real Gundam, and if they’re all like this (story-wise), then man, I seriously need to dive in, because I LOVED THE HELL OUT OF THIS FIRST EPISODE. The plot feels engaging even for someone like me who doesn’t know much about the lore.

The characters are already super likable right out of the gate. I’m loving the chemistry so far, and if Nyaan keeps getting more screen time, she’ll probably end up being my favorite. And ofc, with both Khara and Sunrise behind this, the visuals are absolutely stunning, everything looks incredible. I haven’t even mentioned the OST yet, god, it’s amazing so far.

Overall, an incredible start. I honestly wish I had watched more Gundam beforehand, but I definitely plan to after this finishes airing, because so far... I’m LOVING IT.

Was it literally the same as the movie? Didn't see any real differences other than maybe a couple different small scenes? Like the ending was the same and all? Excited for the rest of the series though

Can I watch this without seeing the movie first? Or is this a retelling of it? They have the same synopsis.
EDIT: Nevermind, the movie is just the first few eps combined. I start to watch this.

Wasn’t sure what to expect going in, but I really liked the blend of callbacks and new ideas. You can definitely feel the UC influence, but it’s doing its own thing too, which I appreciate.

Pacing was a bit fast in parts (probably because of the movie rework?), but overall it didn’t ruin the experience for me. That final scene with the ED song hit hard—Suisei’s voice always adds so much emotion.

I haven’t seen a lot of UC stuff beyond the basics (OG, maybe Zeta ages ago), and I still followed everything just fine. Lots of little references if you know the lore, but not mandatory.

Looking forward to seeing where it goes from here. If episode 2 brings more original content, I’m in.

Amate’s a natural at handling Gundams. Not sure about the story yet, but I like the art—it’s good to see the mechas aren’t CGI.

I’m pretty sure Amate just flashed her panties to that boy.

Loved it so much!!! Had high expectations and it fulfilled them
It set up the world and themes very well and thankfully the concept of Zeon winning the OYW isn't just bait but the show actually looks like it has something to say about it, people feared the show won't be able to build a world and conflict with only 12 episodes but the episode makes me believe even more that they can

Machu is very intriguing so far and Nyan is cool too

And as expected, the visuals are great and stunning! Loved the focus on how the fight affects the area, gundam always does it well when the franchise tries, loved Machu's newtype awakening and her pushing the Zaku across the solar panels as a symbol of her feeling more free in space
The mech design grew on me too and it looks great in action -the CGI is good too

Overall just love the episode

great animation, i was going to say impossible to fell asleep but i was tired, to I had to rewatch the second part to not miss a scene

the only thing that was missing was the dead bodies, it is gundam or not...
if you hated this episode/chapter, just watch/read something else...

This started where the U.C. 0085 portion of the Beginning movie did; the Sodon tracking the Red Gundam to Side 6. From the looks of the preview, the second episode will be cut from the U.C. 0079 portion of the Beginning movie.

The globe in the ED has evidence of Operation British in it; the crater in Australia. I can't help but wonder if the resulting tsunamis and earthquakes in the Asia-Pacific region led many to seek refuge in space since the Izuma colony has a noticeable Asian flair:

The station signage is in Japanese and English and Machu uses her smartphone in Japanese. Even the Side 6 Police Zakus have Kanji on their shields. All of this is intriguing since Gundam typically has on-screen text in English.
The second time Machu meets Nyaan is at a Shinto shrine.
On the Pommerian office entrance, the vertical sign reads "有限公司" (Simplified Chinese for "Limited Company") on the white board inside, there is Thai, Korean and Chinese text.

A new Gundam story begins!

That was by far the best premiere of the season so far visually, and knowing who the staff are behind this, Hideaki Anno, the creator of Evangelion, as well as Kazuya Tsurumaki, the director of FLCL, among other names, my expectations were high. I loved the setting, atmosphere, and the music a lot, and there's no doubt this will be a very epic series. I'm not an expert on Gundam by any means, as the only other series I've seen was The Witch From Mercury, but I guess the one concern I have would be the length of this series likely being quite short. It'll be a visual spectacle, and the politics will be interesting, but can the story hold up? I will say one thing though, Tomoyo Kurosawa, one of my favourite voice actors, voicing Amate is just the icing on the cake.

Really looking forward to more!

Yeah that's A FUCKING 10 FOR ME! I'm so glad this moe-take on an alternate UC timeline where CHAR IS SUCCESSFUL IN HIS MISSION (outside killing Cycillia Zabi) TO CULTIVATE A GRAND FUTURE FOR SPACENOIDS, was as phenomenal as this turned out to be. Aesthetic and lush vibrant color schemes, fluid wonton mecha violence, civilians getting btfo'd to demonstrate the horrors of war, and it's presenting a Gundam world that's yet to be seen in such a new and vibrant light. It's won me over! Great OST too, hopefully our MC's get more development in the coming eps. LOVE IT THO!!!

The episode was definitely not pulling any breaks and just kept going same as the mc that just dived headlong into all of this mess with no hesitation.

Definitely felt they were trying to get the plot started as fast as they could, skipped all her thought process and made her decisions looked really reckless.Hopefully they give us convincing background later for why she acted that way.

Cool visuals and animation, some of those moments looked spectacular but this felt more like gurren lagann or even more like your typical shounen stuff. Witch from mercury had a banger first episode which made me hyped from getgo. This though felt okay, I just watched without feeling a thing. OST was different than usual too. I was expecting something different so this isn't a major turn off and I'm still looking forward to seeing how this goes. If nothing else we'll get another anime with good animation/visuals.

Wow.

1. Writers who actually get Gundam and Universal Century in particular.
2. Mechanical designers who get the mobile suites from said franchise.
3. Animators and action choreographers who get the Gundam battles.

That was a nice surprise.
I had my doubts (now I have hopes), but the people here definitely know what they are doing.

You can call GQuuuuuuX some sort of FLCL (or DieBuster) alternative take on Gundam UC.

I had been very hesitant about this ever since it was announced. I still don't particularly like the mobile suit designs but holy crap, there's a ton of stuff here for a fan of UC Gundam to dig into. I don't think we really know enough about the main characters to have a real opinion on them yet but the world building for this timeline is amazing. I am very much on board to see more of this now.

I'm not entirely sold cause alot of the alt UC stuff is kind of feeling fanservicy over substance and the 12 ep runtime has me worried, but the actual episode was pretty good, machu is likable, but more than anything god damn is the directing oozing atmosphere I dont think the colonies have ever felt this moody. next week might win me over or lose me more depending cause its all the char flashback stuff. . I think where im at is, the original stuff of this seedy underground mech fights feels like it all could work without being part of an alt UC, so im just kind of looking at the small runtime and worrying all the time we are spending referencing fucking M'Quve could be better cut and this just being its own au.

Now to be that guy and I'll only do this once cause its redundant, but man I feel like more things of substance happened in these 24 minutes than 24 episodes of G-witch, and I think even if I dont like this series I already respect it more.

Anno is only doing the stuff related to the alt timeline. Also the design of the main suit is Anno's submission for the Nu Gundam design contest For Char's Counterattack 4 decades ago. It's crazy how a rejected design is now heading a flagship TV anime.
It shows how far Bandai has falled thanks to Mari Okada and Iron Blooded Orphans.

Just in a general sense this is the best first episode of any show I have seen in I don't know how long, the directing was so good, they didn't have a single boring moment. I knew exactly what I was getting into with Tsurumaki-san directing and I'm a long time diehard fan of all his works so I was here for this no matter what. Didn't disappoint not just as a fan of Gundam but there was lots of flavor of Evangelion, FLCL and others. Also how stupid good is the soundtrack? I honestly can't contain my excitement for the rest, I have been longing for more directorial work from Tsurumaki-san for so long. It's fun to hear how many people are geeked about and enjoying this. :)

@phantomfandom Just a reminder that Gundam is for men and every single Gundam anime that has pandered to fujosjit like 00 which flopped compared to Seed + the disgusting mess that is IBO which killed the franchise for 7 years before covid, gunpla boom, hathaway, and wfm season 1, and seed freedom revived it.
Men bought gunpla anyway. Now they can actually watch the series and buy character merch that isn't made for fujos or homosexuals.

The movie wasn't in cinemas where I live so I'm finally getting to know Amate and Nyaan
I like what I see so far . As a long time Gundam fan, the multiple 0079 references almost made me blush, the green White (lol) Base felt so strange. Amate seems like a brave girl, loved how she didn’t twice to get into the GQuuuuuuX just like Amuro and Kamille.

Cautiously excited for the next episodes, I do hope they dial down a little bit of the UC nostalgia and develop more the current state of Earth sphere without the Federation.

New season new Gundam and this time I was able to do my homework and watch the original from 1979 so I kinda know who Char is although this seems to be placed in an alternate timeline of sorts.

We follow this red haired girl who I'm not sure is kinda aloof or spaced out encountering with a dark haired girl who's a fugitive doing a side job. Apparently her delivery got mixed up with red girl so she got back to her and accompained her to the place where she was either too brave or dumb to realise the situation she was involving herself in. Well, from that all this time a battle between the red Gundam and the white gundam controlled by a top of the class is bringing on security who seek to destroy refugee spacenoids and people who they consider inferior. By only focusing on this, red hair girl jumps with the delivery item to activate some robot there, crashes into a duct and sees the white gundam so decides to get in there and activates it. This is all happening as some weird robot companion appears and starts to repeat words and act as the key but not enough of an explanation is provided for his presence. So she starts hallucinating or something, controls the mecha and defeats the pursuers ending in a scene with blue haired girl leaving the site.

So yeah, the pace is a bit fast but not too much and the mc hasn't grabbed me yet. The setting is cool as it is set in a somewhat similar place to 1979 from what I could remember, leaving us with some cool 360 shots during battles, and the music in particular for some of the scenes almost made me get up and vibe. Chill ed that that tells us that both girls will start getting closer at some point. What I wonder is how long it will be until we actually see Char.

huh... its quite different from the OG series, its crazy that Zeon won the war... i still don't get whats going on tho i think next episode will clear up whats going on with Char.

The art is crazy different and violence seems to be very toned down, also gundams seem to be much more computer like instead of mechanical with the Key being basically a hard drive and Haro hacking into the system. Double female protagonists again? very moe. Personally i don't mind but i expect the series to still be quite militaristic

Really liked the first episode but some of the musical choices were not my thing. The vocal track that played during the final battle was just lame and there was another playing during the first dialogue scene with our main characters which meant they were overlapping. Hoping that it doesn't happen in the other episodes.
