| Definitely not as much as 90%. Looking at last seasons shows, out of around 100 airing/continuing anime, about 40-50 of them have a score >7. So there is a lot of shit anime out there, especially nowadays, but its not that bad. |

| While I don't necessarily disagree with your premise, calling this an LenRea said: objective scientifically proven fact is a bit too much for me. Fun(?) Fact: there's a replication crisis in scientific research suggesting that an overwhelming majority of published research results cannot be replicated. In other words, most of what we know as "fact" has never been proven outside of a singular study and may actually have just been a confluence of randomness. (See, I can use big words too!). In short, Sturgeon's Law could also be subject to Sturgeon's Law, meaning there's a ~90% chance it's crap. |

We're talking about a world where creativity knows no bounds, and the quality is often off the charts. I mean, have you seen my jaw-dropping waifu in "jujutsu kaisen"? Or the intricate storytelling in "Hyouka"? |
| I'm aware. A lot of the ones I've seen are shit. Did you also know that more than half of anime are only 1 episode long? The really atrocious ones never see the light of day, meanwhile you have people who believe that Sword Art Online or Rent a Girlfriend are the worst possible anime because they aren't willing to sift through the real pond scum. Obviously the 90% rule is a subjective measure. It doesn't mean that the top 2700 anime ranked on MAL are the 10% that are good. There will be anime in that section that you don't like and ones below that you do. I think if you watched a truly random sample of anime entries then being able to call 10% of them "good" would be pretty reasonable. I think for some individuals it might be higher or lower than that, but for your average viewer it would probably be close to 10%. |
