| This is what I wrote on another forum: Shirayukin said: Winter 2025 Will watch: - Kusuriya no Hitorigoto S2 - My Happy Marriage S2 - Fate/Strange Fake - Honey Lemon Soda High priority maybes: - Hana wa Saku, Shura no Gotoku - Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf - Kono Kaisha ni Suki na Hito ga Imasu - Zenshuu Low priority maybes: - Ameku Takao no Suiri Karte - Sakamoto Days Which is too much for me, especially since some shows from this season will still be ongoing next season. I may wait for some to complete and may end up not watching some of them at all. |

| Not that huge. The spring season of this current year was my peak up to now as far as watching seasonals goes, but I'm thinking of really dialing it back more on that front and focusing more on older, already completed series (even if they're ones which have never been comprehensively concluded with a full and proper ending - it's enough that they're just done airing, at least for the time being). I'm so behind on the mounting number of "older" (in quotations because some are as recent as being 2023 series, but some go back to the 1970s) series sitting festering on my Plan-to-Watch list. Unless I see ones which truly hit me, I may revert, for a time anyway, to only watching a smaller handful rather than ones which aren't that special or don't do much interesting with their premise and I end up rating 5/10s or wanting to rate lower anyway. As of now, the only ones that I know for a fact that I'll be watching are: - The Apothecary Diaries season 2 - Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective Those are the ones I'm going to watch and highly likely all the way through as I'm nearly guaranteed to like and enjoy them to at least some extent. The former because I have already watched the entirety of the first season of the series and obviously know that I like the show well enough to continue. And the latter because...I almost cannot believe it's true. An anime of the exact type which I have been waiting and searching for, for years, but to my knowledge never previously existed with this specificity in terms of what I was craving. A modern-day/Earth (non-fantasy/isekai)-set medical investigative mystery featuring anomalous and challenging health questions and lesser known diseases and the way they manifest and present? I can't believe that I only just learned of this very recently, within the past few weeks. I have had certain rare medical conditions my whole life, but while I was never completely ignorant on the subject of medical science and health, it was never an intense specific interest of mine up until around four years ago now when I became extremely sickened due to certain circumstances. So in addition to burying myself in a lot of actual medical literature, I've been wanting to see more and more of that topic represented and explored in fiction (of course I have seen TV series like House, even long before recent times and the relatively newfound interest; back when they were still newer), but it's rare enough in fiction in general (at least in TV and film - the world of written fiction in books probably has more of everything, including this), let alone in specifically anime. Series like Isekai Yakkyoku from a few years ago had a little of that, with real diseases incorporated and actual look at medications/pharmacology and symptoms, albeit in a fantastical setting and then the second half of its run kind of went in a different direction. And ironically The Apothecary Diaries also has some of that. It's different there because it's in a historical-esque setting in what's technically a fantasy alternative world equivalent of medieval/dynastic China (though still realistic and low to no magic in this world), but also has some informative real world explanations of real phenomena. But there the focus isn't just on illness as Maomao branches out to solve other issues, like conspiratorial plots and relationship issues, and sometimes deals with other household goods beyond herbs and the pharmacy stuff. Anyway, I don't actually know that much (hardly anything beyond the synopsis) of what that other new series will entail yet, so we'll see how it measures up to the ones with some of that similar medical-related content. The others which I may watch (meaning almost certainly will give them a try of anywhere from a few minutes to a few episodes, but not as guaranteed or confident that I'll continue depending on how they are), are as follows: - Sorairo Utility (probably will like reasonably well - I watched, at the time it aired, the 14 minute one-off TV special episode for it which aired at the end of 2021 and I both originally thought that it was and wanted at the time for it to be, a full length series rather than the limited experiment it was at the time. I've seen Birdie Wing and the first season of Ooi! Tonbo since 2022 so could verge on feeling kind of golfed-out as a subject for new anime series, but as mentioned this was technically the first one and the first one I watched and unlike what the case is with those two, I always wanted a golf-related anime series to have more of what looks like will be a more CGDCT and Slice of Life-style aesthetic and approach) - Tasokare Hotel (another I didn't learn about the existence of until reviewing the winter of 2025 seasonal chart within the past two or three weeks - looks to me akin to a modernized urban version of something like Haibane Renmei, so cautiously intrigued) - Momentary Lily (What looks like a post-apocalyptic Slice of Life or Action + Slice of Life? Another one totally in my wheelhouse. Wandering a desolate world between death and warm and tasty meals, with attractive and physically-enhanced girls. It's an anime original. Could be another Arknights, as in, one which honestly astounds me in how good it turns out and how much care in the execution is put into it on the part of the studio. Or could be a nothing-to-it flop if they bungle it. We'll see. - Farmagia (Not many thoughts or much coherent thought on this one. Just wondering if it'll be more in line with a Pokemon or Digimon-type series or more like those Animal Crossing/Pikmin/Harvest Moon/Stardew Valley category of puzzle and farming-themed video games. And I just generally am partial and willing to give a chance to a lot of fantasy adventure series which are not JRPG-style isekai for a change (at least for a change for new anime series, given the current predominant trend) I'm not saying that I won't possibly watch any others apart from the ones I listed. It's just that from what I know is coming out then and upon a review of the upcoming seasonals chart, these are the ones which stand out. Sometimes even though I see the posters and read the synopses for all the other series, there are ones which for whatever reason just elude my more focused attention and don't pop out at me enough to feel prompted to try until something later randomly generates my interest in them (and that can be almost immediately before or after they air, midway through the season, or shortly or long after the season ends). So some more may be added at some point. |

Ore dake Level Up na Ken Season 2: Arise from the Shadow Kusuriya no Hitorigoto 2nd Season Dr. Stone: Science Future Sakamoto Days Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon 2nd Season Kimi no Koto ga Daidaidaidaidaisuki na 100-nin no Kanojo 2nd Season Unnamed Memory Act.2 Ao no Exorcist: Yosuga-hen Ishura 2nd Season SK∞ OVA: Extra Part Might watch Medalist Zenshuu. Übel Blatt Honey Lemon Soda Kuroiwa Medaka ni Watashi no Kawaii ga Tsuujinai Momentary Lily Sousei no Aquarion: Myth of Emotions Tasokare Hotel These are the only anime I got my eyes on so far; I'll probably watch more spontaneously. Overall, it seems to be a bit of a dry season, with Solo Leveling Season 2 as the only truly great thing. Kusuriya no Hitorigoto 2nd Season and Dr. Stone: Science Future are bound to be good, but I don't see anything that will make them more than a low 8 like their former seasons. Out of the new series, I have some anticipations for Zenshuu, Übel Blatt, and Medalist. There is Sakamoto Days, which I'm a manga reader of, and I like it, but the beginning was kinda boring, and I heard disappointing stuff about the animation. |

| Apothecary Diaries S2 is the only must-watch for me. There are 4 others that I'm interested in right now, and there might be a few more that I pick up once the season starts. Sooo around 10 new shows is my guess. About the same as this season. And probably continuing 2 shows from this season: Orb and Ranma. Isekai Yakkyoku and The Apothecary Diaries didn't do enough for me. As do I. And I agree that those other two series are a little light on the actual substantive medical content. In The Apothecary Diaries the proto-pharmacology and herbology is a nice additional detail to the show but isn't the main meat or substance. Luckily it has other things going for it and which I'm interested in like the "historical" Chinese setting and a fairly unique and strong-willed main character, a teenage girl one at that, with a developed sense of self and inner monologue. As for Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective, I have relatively high hopes on the issue of them not glossing over or being light or evasive on details on the core topic of the premise and leaning hard into some combination of actual pathology, lesser known and/or rarer illnesses and associated symptoms, treatment, testing, etc. since I learned that the author of the original novel series from 2014 upon which it's based, Mikito Chinen, is an actual physician in real life in addition to being an author. And apparently, at least from passing comments I've read online, tends to incorporate a lot of these little appropriated anecdotes and authentic details from experience in his other profession. So I feel like it's at least the best shot by far we've had in the longest time of getting something close to what we're looking for on that front. |

| Winter 2025 might have the fewest shows I'll be watching since I started seasonal anime in 2019. Only got Apothecary Diaries S2 and Happy Marriage S2 in my ptw list so far. May include Sakumoto Days as hear that may be worth checking out. There's just too many shows for me to sift through and see what looks good. Maybe Ubel Blatt or Beheneko: The Elf-Girl's Cat is Secretly an S-Ranked Monster!. | I usually check the next season a few days before they start since otherwise I'd forget and have to check them up again when they start airing. But went to take a look and it's probably not gonna be a big ptw list at all. Maybe it will but it will drop considerably after watching the first episode of some since instead of dropping, I straight up delete it. Only adding to drop if I watch a few episodes or more, not just one or less. |
