This was okay, nothing too speical but it has that slice of life-ish feel for the first episode.

One of the main leads Shizuru turns out to be tougher than I had expected. They introduced a decent amount of characters into this and looking forward to see how the show will focus on them. Animation quality feels mediocre imo, especially during the more cartoony moments. However, the background scenes looks gorgeous. It definitely has that suburb feeling though.

Celebrating 150 years of Japan's railways, with both director Tsutomu Mizushima and series composer Michiko Yokote of Shirobako and Winter 2019's Kouya no Kotobuki Hikoutai a.k.a The Magnificent Kotobuki (another original show) fame, a show about a group of girls riding on a train to nowhere, it really gives the Gakkougurashi vibes.

Rei Nakashima's OP is mind-boppingly good, though its musical tonal changes are quite the trippy vibes. Rokudenashi's ED...is also surprisingly good.

The regular schoolgirl of Yoka Nakatomi getting bamboozled by a mob proclaiming their advancement in technology and wanting to be the first in the radical 7G technology, it ended biting and transforming Japan 2 years later into a warped society, full of grown-up humans turned into animals after 21 years and 3 months of age. Even Taira Zenjiro, the host of the failed event, turned into an old man with a broken back, in the rather small town of Agano.

Both Reimi Kuga and Akira Shinonome are frenemies at best, and Nadeshiko Hoshi is the middleman in the midst of this. With the girls' lead of Shizuru Chikura being asked about her future career aspirations, however, presents hope that they'll be able to get somewhere, more than just being in Agano receiving aid.

It's clear that the 7G network incident has affected everyone, though the deliveryman Neko doesn't want Shizuru to just waste her life following him for a lead out. And the girls spotting Yoka in Ikebukuro at the event, more than the news that her only family of Grandma Koyuki is relieved that she's alive, it just feels uneasy where technology is the factor that breaks their communications, something that hurts Shizuru all the more. And something that Pochi saw was a non-fucntional train, where putting the cap on Zenjiro temporarily turns him into a proper adult, though he doesn't last long. At the very least, the lead to Ikebukuro is now set where Shizuru has a destination, and the girls all follow her on the way: 30 stops to go.

This show has so much mystery, it makes me want to watch more. Is this finally a sure-fire win for the C-grade studio EMT Squared? Only time will tell.

And the Spring season has now begun!

Pretty weird but interesting start. Very different kind of show than I expected, mostly due to those talking animals and the fast pacing. I mean, everything just happened so quickly. The characters are also talking too fast, especially Zenjirou. My brains didn't have time to process everything, which is unfortunately kinda common issue with some anime.

I expected this to be more like Gakkougurashi! I got fooled by the trailer, but oh well.

Anyway, looking forward to the next episode. Let's see how the story will develop.

Looks more interesting than i expected the characters were nice and i like the animal part.
Tho the anime started with a kidnapping, poor girl didn't even know what was happening.
Well let's just see how this will turn out for now.

This was a very cool and interesting opening episode with a unique story I think am really going to enjoy this series. The art style kind of reminds me of a studio Ghibli movie.

Beware guys! 7G technology can distort our world. lmao...

btw, the train from this episode is Seibu 2000 series. The Agano Station is served by the Seibu Ikebukuro Line, where the origination station is Ikebukuro. One of their future stop could be Hanno, the main location from Yama no Susume.

This has to be the most random thing I’ve watched in a while, just casually the world gets thrown into some apocalyptic state.

Everyone being animals is weird af and I’m just casually gonna brush past the fact I’m pretty sure I saw a triceratops during the episode.

This show has potential to be pretty good. It’s got a fun cast.

(The op and ed song is also killer πŸ”₯πŸ”₯)

I was really excited for this and idk what I was expecting but it certainly wasn't this. Interesting stuff though. 7G broke the world, changed people and places and even distances it seems. Really looking forward to seeing how things will go for our girls from here on. The train adventure begins.

That was insane and I loved it. I thought it'd be more of a chill series. Chill end of the world vibes but with cute girls slapped on top. Glad it's way more crazy than that, gives it more personality. An anime original too. Hope it keeps up this first episodes energy.

I need somebody who can love me at my worst
No, I'm not perfect, but I hope you see my worth
'Cause it's only you, nobody new, I put you first
And for you, girl, I swear I'll do the worst

If you stay forever, let me hold your hand
I can fill those places in your heart no else can
Let me show you love, oh, I don't pretend, yeah
I'll be right here, baby, you know I'll sink or swim

Well that was frantic...

We're starting out in a dilapidated suburban estate predominantly populated by animals. So random! The pacing of the dialogue is noticeably swift and even the abrupt scene cuts makes me feel I am watching in 1.25x but I can get used to that. Loving the OP whose unorthodox conventions mimic the premise and the night sky looks marvelous. We're going to learn a few more things about what 7G cooked up and I'm all ears. Who knows maybe aliens exist. Getting the sense this series will blow up and as we all board the train together, expect to see us derail at some point due to the overload. But hey, if i go down at least y'all will help me aye? Oh no, I can foresee the cannibalism already...

Point is, while we're comfortable in our relatively bland 5G sphere, a little 7G dispersed around us might just be what we needed. Looking forward to how it all develops!

This one does have some potential, with vibes that lead me to believe there will be some darkness even in some of the funny moments. The art style is not that polished, kind of trippy at times, but for a studio with a mediocre track record, I'm not too surprised the animation wasn't that great. The setup was wacky with the 7G, but I do wish they took their time to explain a little more about the world before we got started on the train. In any case, this is one my most anticipated shows this season nonetheless, and I'm interested in how this goes.

Don't do 7G kids.

The spring season is underway and we got this show. The first episode was ok, it was funny as well but the plot felt a bit lackluster. I'm gonna stick by this and see how it goes. I like the background of the show. It gives off this mysterious and eerie feeling imo. I like that.

This feels like something that'll keep delivering as the season progresses.

This episode had a bit of everything so some people may feel a bit unsatisfied since it tried to fit in elements that would impress a wide variety of people.

I love me an adventure so I'm all in for this one.

Pretty hectic 1st episode.

Could've guessed theres supernatural elements from the trailer, but wasnt expecting it to be right in your face.Even without the weirdness,it was hectic with how fast everything was just one thing after another without breathing room.
Its a pretty intresting setup, lets see where it goes.

I was not expecting this, but then again, it is April Fools' Day.

The cold open caught me completely off-guard, as did the all "people turning into animals" thing. I thought the 7G scene was visually striking, with its misshapen animation and fierce colors. The rest of the episode was pleasing to the eye as well, albeit in a more conventional way.

I don't have much to say about the story, other than I find it intriguing. The characters were all introduced in quick succession, so none of them really got a chance to stand out, but I'm looking forward to getting to know them.

The OP and ED were both good. I especially love the latter, which I find to be pretty in an understated way (visually, it reminds me of the OP for Ghost Hunt).

All in all, a good beginning.

What the actual fuck.

Gave me some American anime esque vibes at first; now its just some girls going on an adventure where they might die.

Those blooded hand prints looked like quite something; also a bunch of sketchy characters.

Interesting (and bizarre) start to an anime if I’ve ever seen one. Definitely displaying potential, hopefully EMT SQUARED actually makes a good show this time, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited for the next episode, really curious how the story will develop. Will it be another school-live or madoka esque show, or just another CGDCT, only time will tell. Although there are signs which point to this show being much darker than what we are currently seeing. OP is wonderful, but the visuals just make me more curious about this show. Definitely a hidden gem in the making

This was absolutely bizarre but it worked! The premise and the world are unique and interesting, and I'm already intrigued by what the girls will experience on their journey. My only complaint is that the dialogue felt like it was too fast, like it was sped up for some reason. Other than that, I'm on board for this absurdist adventure.

This is such a random premise with 7G, for some reason, causing havoc and changing Japan seemingly for the worst. I also had to double check that I was watching the right series because I was not expecting what I saw. At least this is pretty unique and it did pique my interest as I wonder what happened to Yoka and if there is a way to revert all of this.

Btw, some of the animals the humans turned into made me laugh like Shizuru's mom whom I think is supposed to be a wolverine (or at least her dad is).

It definitely piqued my interest. I knew they would be hiding some stuff in the trailers but I 100% didn't think of that, I was wondering if I was still watching the right anime when the animals appeared lmao.

The only problem I had so far is that you can feel that EMT Squared is trying its best to do better than its usual animation wise but it's struggling a bit to keep up. Also, I feel like there were a couple of jarring cuts in the editing.

Still tho, a solid start.

this is wonderfully bizarre, such a interesting genre mix. I'm already kinda hooked on this adventure.
I also like how the dialoge flows, its fast paced and frantic but so entertaining to watch.

In the end it seems like Shizuru doesn't even like the other girls or why weren't she discussing this decision with them? I mean, I can understand that she couldn't expect them to leave their hometowm for a selfish reason like this. So I hope they adress this in the next episode because I feel kinda bad that they are pretty much traveling without any luggage now.

Definitely an odd-yet-intriguing first episode. Thrown right into the parade of aesthetic weirdness and "the new normal," it doesn't seem like things are going to be pussyfooting around for very long. Lo and behold, we're already on our way out of town (and with a dog to boot) to see what lies beyond.

Director Mizushima Tsutomu (Girls und Panzer, Mayoiga, Shirobako, xxxHOLiC, etc) did Tweet this out though, which...doesn't bode well - https://twitter.com/tsuki_akari/status/1774807868958753227

At this point, this show feels like a typical bizzare arc in some paranormal or esper comedy show, where everything gets thrown into chaos for the sake of surreal comedy. I hope that the writers have enough motivation and imagination to manage this until the very end, and not just fall into a surreal mess as often happens with such shows. But either way, at least it has a good visual.
