Team Z vs Team Y, loser vs loser!

I don't know why but I giggled when they were making strategy in there dorm.
The conversation between Kunigami & Isagi was wholesome. And there faces, lol

I think the animation, visuals and art was better than episode 3. And I really didn't have a problem with anything in this episode. I was worried about how they will adapt gagamaru's goal but 8bit adapt it fantastically, the cgi there was really good!

Next episode is going to be the best in the series so far, because it will adapt one of my favorite panel and goal.

People not realizing what they're good at isn't something unusual and more so when it comes to people like Isagi, the abundance rate is almost a hundred if not a complete hundred. Though Isagi’s the protag, he ought to have a special talent, right? Yep dude can “smell” goals. Sounds kinda absurd for now, but it’ll make sense later.

Second match and it’s against team Y, who also like Z lost the opener. Mistake this time and our boys will be almost out of competition, so with a new tactic of rotating their respective positions every 10 minutes to have each of them play that forward role once, atleast they went with a bit of teamspirit this time. Though mind you only those nine except Chigiri and gk. Y took the lead either way though, but still the match is in balance for now, courtsey the chance Isagi created.

Being defeated means they just have to find a way to overcome their obstacle. Team Z is still at the bottom of the barrel so changes are needed.

So much ego and attitude going on in the locker room. I'm not surprised though, as it seems everyone is playing for themselves.

So... they're looking to win their next match and for that, they have to see what they have that can be called their 'ultimate weapon' and Isagi doesn't have one. Very nice to see the interaction between Isagi and Ichigo and he's grateful to him for the pass on the field and they shared a meal together as well. I hope there isn't a catch in the future between these two. I'm gonna be very sad, otherwise.

But, it looks like even Team Y is too strong for these bozos. Well, they're Team Z for a reason. And, they're trying to rank up. The hentai protagonist looks like a problem. But, my god that last shot was so fucking good.

This plan, whatever it called, is amazing in an aspect of storytelling, because it allows every character to show his strong point in a short period of time to the audience. But I'm also glad that there's a twist that in practical not everyone has a chance to show, so it keeps some players' ability to remain secret and reveal at a later date.
But right now I'm addicted to the after-credit comic relief scene, they're so close!
I think this is the first episode that Ego doesn't appear, good! If he want Japan to win FIFA he should start with stop calling this sports "soccer" and calling it "football" just like every past winning countries did.

It's only one loss, no need to worry about anything. The second match against Team Y won't go the same way as it did against X. They've got tactics now with the 10-minute change which is pretty smart. Also, Isagi's "smell" ability will be explained or well further established later on. It'll be crazy.

Very average episode despite the best team v team action yet. I am enjoying this game and how they've set up the use of different tactics & formations but something about the episode direction and overall animation felt more to be desired.

Too many stills even in the most prominent scenes. The CGI on the background characters looked unusually goofy and jarring. I'm not a CGI denier at all but overall the CGI usage has been poor. I'm sure we will get some great sakuga action down the line but for now, im very critical of the animation. The general premise is still captivating tho which is why i was glad to see all of the characters building that sense of team-work which may or may not benefit them in the future. We got another character who seem to have those "eyes" or "monster". Hope they don't overuse the concept . The One Piece "pirate king" dig was cheeky and I liked it xD.

Overall, average episode with generic character interactions and development. The next episode should be interesting

Isagi doing a great job collecting friends. Bachira. Now, Kunigami. From the looks of the ED, Chigiri will be next. He's a real mystery. I'm liking these four a lot. I hope they'll stick together and bond through the story.

Time for Team Z to make a comeback?

Team Z really needs a win, and whatever plans they can make up, if it doesn't lead them to victory, it doesn't matter at all. And this "'Next Up, It's Me!' Eleven" strategy is crucial for their growth, though if its towards individuality, Isagi felt like he hasn't been improving much. Kunigami comes up to him to thank for the goal assist against Team X and tells him of his passion to become a soccer superhero just like the majority of strikers he idolized when he was young. That's motivation, and for a start, both peeps I thought really hit it off quite well.

The next match against Team Y, and it's a loser's battle with their No. 9 Okawa Hibiki who's a standout. The strategy is taken, reduced to 9 players, with the best of each player's weapons to find goals within 90 mins. But Team Y is awaitng for a chance to counterattack by using their plan against them, it's simple but works very well. This means that while they can't change out their strategy, they have to go with it to inch their way to victory.

For Isagi, the dark soul prefaced to him, it's the premonition and intuition to shut down their No. 11 Ikki Niko, which in this case they managed to even the score out.

Isagi can "smell" the victory, all they need is a comeback win.

This episode was decent, still suffers from the same problems as the last though.
The studio has practically no experience in animating sports anime and it's showing.

You can't have characters stand still while they're saying their lines, that just ruins the flow.

At least it actually felt like it was worth watching after having already read the manga, unlike the last one.

Team Z has definitely gotten much better when it comes to their teamwork. They managed to tie up the game, now all that's left is to seal the win.

gotta say the cgi in some scenes, especially further away shots is just off putting and not pleasant to look at at all, other than that it makes no sense that characters strop mid game to think or talk

Another amazing episode. Kunigami and Isagi's conversation gave insight into what Isagi's skill is and that is an ability to "smell the goal". The ability to make the right decisions in key moments is definitely a big deal in football. His skill is also broadened in the sense that he is also more logical in his thinking compared to his teammates. His decision to mark Niko as the corner was taken ended up stopping a counterattack. He also got an assist for his troubles. Side note Gagamaru is really DAT guy.

I hope this episode will put to bed the statements that Blue lock isn't realistic. I know it is exaggerated but you just have to look further. Team Y employed a park-the-bus tactic where they looked compact in midfield and defense and aimed to force mistakes out of Team Z before destroying them on the counter. This is a very popular tactic used by teams like Tottenham, Leicester's title-winning team, Conte's Inter, etc.

So Isagi's weapon has probably something to do with field view, that's not bad at all for a center forward.

Trading points for permission to go out or food, lol this reminds me of Kaiji's underground arc xD Anyway Ichigo is a good guy while Bakugo is still screaming as always, now the next match against team Y started and both team have their tactics but it didn't really work for our main team until Isagi shot (and passed it in the end) to that other white hair dude that managed to tie the score (1-1), the match is pretty tense so far, I'm liking it.

As much I love the manga the animation during the game doesn't look that impressive it was flashy at first but i think overall ao ashi was way better adapted than this the game felt smooth animations were decent but in this episode i could notice the cgi players in the back when camera is focused on a single player. It was not done properly hope the animation during the game improves cuz the manga is goated. Production IG should have done blue lock imo

Interesting game beginning with a weird tactic that's doesn't seem smart for any player. What's more is that premonition and unconscious reactions during the game was real hype. Let's see the so-called weapon of Isagi!

What an intense episode, the ending was that captivating that I forgot I was even watching. Thank god they went straight into another match and weren't idling for a whole episode. Didn't expect them to agree to a strategy, but I was pleasantly surprised (what was that name though 🥶). The scene where Isagi and Kunigami were talking it out was a nice addition before the actual match. And yet again, Isagi came in clutch with his ability to sense things. Props to Gagamaru for managing to score after he mistook it for a pass, but it was rather painful to watch.

I'm starting to like Kunigami and its not because he looks like Ichigo from Bleach. lol. Team Z must win their next match against Team Y and the idea to rotate the leading guy seems like a sound strategy. However, Team Y also had a plan to lure Team Z out and hit them with a counterattack to score their first goal. Gagamaru got some crazy speed and managed to tie things up, but he almost hurt himself. Isagi has the ability to read and adapt to the situation which is necessary for being a striker and found out that Niko is the one driving Team Y so Isagi has to take Niko out of the game in order for Team Z to win.

I think for now this anime of sports is more like a anime of conversation. I am used that “the prota is one the most exciting and hard working even tho he is not one of the greatest in that area” kind of anime, but this prota until now have the same motivation as a rock have.

Looks like everyone on Isagi team really got their special little time to shine. But too bad some still got nothing there xd. The phase when mc could'nt figure out his own strength and then bam he finally figure that out in one place out of blue, lock. Pretty interesting setup, yes, and also fascinating opponent too with the same eyes and role right like Isagi, he said. Not to be precise, but seriously, dude fix your bang first, okay? How am i suppose to believe you have the same eye if nothing can't even be showed there xd. All joke aside, shounen be it like a Shounen, so let's just keep em rolling. Next!

The one thing about sports shows in general is that the characters are all gimmicky, and that isn't the best for character development. The only character who isn't very gimmicky would be Isagi, but he's your typical shounen protagonist. Characters aside, the animation looked alright in some parts, but some of the CG was pretty hard to look at. Really looking forward to the moment where this show breaks the mold and gives us that moment that we can't predict, if that ever happens.
