Your logic and anyone else's for the matter is super flawed if that is the case. It was picked from multiple one shots on WSM based on fan polls who read WSM. It has nothing to do with what WSJ produces. Bokuben was not that popular to begin with. Tsutsui Taishi only got XXXXX (insert a female character here if you know who I am refering to, otherwise I know you don't know much) fans liking the manga in the beginning. The reason why Fumino is popular is partly because of XXXXX fans (I was the same). It's common knowledge even amongst bokuben Joes and Jims.

But fans in general wanted something new in Tsutsui Taishi's manga instead of 2 main heroines like his mentor did. Uruka didn't help the cause behind breaking out of 2 main heroines either even though her fanbase grew steadily over time. It only hit popularity after a comment in a Japanese board that what if Kirisu-sensei became a main heroine appeared after a chapter surrounding her and that spread like a wildfire. Kirisu-sensei and Ashumi-senpai were originally side heroines. But sensei's incredible popularity became apparent in WSJ surveys and it became reality after the first character poll. Ashumi-senpai also got promoted to a main heroine. Some say it was a by product of Kirisu-sensei's promotion while others say because she almost out did one of the 3 main heroines in the poll. The number of sensei/senpai chapters increased around the prelim surveys and then more after the poll.

Meanwhile, if serialization was not on the cards, they would not hold popularity character poll of the quints based on the one shot where Miku came dead last, prompting Negi to change her character design. WSM announced the serialization is given a green light based on the fans' response. Bokuben was still trying to attract fans outside #TeamXXXXX because most of the others were casual readers until Kirisu-sensei and Uruka started to get the spotlights.

Tl;dr: Do some research before making over the top arguments.

Also, student tutor romcom/harem is not a new thing. Bokuben/gotoubun fans think it as the pioneer. You do too, subconsciously perhaps. Because you made up something on your own and made it into a statement of the masses because no one said what you did. You see. You became part of the bokuben bandwagon. You don't have to become someone who judge bokuben and gotoubun by whichever came out first. It really shouldn't matter because both are completely different types of manga with different way of dealing with the setup, characters, pacing, plot and whatnot.
