Either you're reading comprehension is severely lacking or you didn't pay attention to the episode. So let me remind some of Lero Ro's lines :
- "The luck to be born with exceptional brains or brawn"
- "The to be blessed with wealth or good friends"

What is it that you don't understand from these two lines? It obviously implies you need to either have a great intellect, be extremely strong, have connections, be rich or any kind of advantage.

The Test Administrator even added that no matter how much effort you put into it it doesn't matter. "You simply were not chosen. That's all". It basically tells you "This is life, deal with it.". Get it, now?

and bam possesses neither of those, yet he's obviously gonna make it to the top.

How does someone continue to be wrong every time they write a comment?

Lero Ro is a stud and he called Baam a monster. Kuhn is pretty damn bright and he realized how special Baam was. Rak wasn’t remotely surprised when Baam wasn’t pushed back by Lero Ro. The series isn’t hiding the fact that The 25th Baam is much stronger than he’s currently aware of lmfao

How do you know that lol

Plus some answers concerning Baam's ability to climb the Tower are already suggested in the episode.

Replace the word "luck" with "potential" in Lero-Ro's lines and what he means to say should make more sense to you.

That was sooo much better than the first episode. The pacing was slowed down to a speed that makes sense, and they had nearly all the detail of the source material in there. There is still some context missing, thanks to the first episode rushing so fast, but after this episode I can believe that they may be able to weave those things into the later story.

Hanai > Sano confirmed

that being said I seriously hope it's just the material, not the episode director.... I shudder to think if the latter is the case

What do you mean? That the source material actually improved and it didn’t just happen to be a better episode director and it’s going to regress?

I meant that the source material didn't seem to have any differences in quality between the ep1 and ep2 chapters, yet everyone seems to agree that the pacing in ep1 is substandard compared to ep2.

Major scenes were removed in ep1, the dialogue was changed significantly, and as a result everyone shat on it because "it felt too contrived" and "rushed". The chapters didn't have the problem.

Ep 2 didn't suffer from those issues. It adapted the chapters very well.

If this represents the difference in standard of storyboarding between Hanai and Sano, then I am worried because Sano is the overall director and will probably storyboard more episodes.

Localisation from Korean name (Bam, meaning Night) to Japan (Yoru, meaning Night). Kind of like how Kasumi (meaning misty in Japanese) is called Misty in English Pokemon.

Got it. I’m not super concerned about the pacing from this point onward tbh. The reality is that fight scenes move significantly faster when it’s animated and there is going to be a fair amount of action moving forward. At least in theory that should allow more time for scenes like the Yuri/Evan convo that was cut in ep1

'Bam' is Korean for 'Night' and his full name just means 'the 25th Night', so they translated the name to 'Yomu', which means night in Japanese, but they kept the original Korean name for the subtitles (probably because that is how the webtoon readers know him).
It is basically a question if you want to translate a name that has a meaning or you keep it original. I'm almost always for keeping the original, so I agree with the choice of keeping Bam in the subtitles.

(If you are familiar with The Witcher, the original names are often translated in the English version.)

Episode 2 had the right pacing. It did skip a scene or two, like when Lero ro explains to Bam irregulars are feared because each time one enters the tower, chaos and destruction comes to the tower, which they may explain later so that it makes sense that they are not only a "rare" encounter but also dangerous.

Other than that, fights nailed it and the shinsou effect which i was worried how they would animate it, turned out to be actually really good. Hope they keep it up or even get better next week

Great episode, pace is much better now as well.

I think they actually covered everything, maybe might have skipped a line of dialogue or two but yeah, this was great and even better than the first episode.

I went back and glanced through the source and the only major think they skipped was naming some of the previous Irregulars which might actually work to their favor here depending on how it's used.
It also looks like the guy who got wrecked by Lero-Ro was changed but that's too minor to nitpick about.

That moment where Lero-Ro stares at Baam and mentions that a monster has arrived was epic as hell.
Anak and Hatz, they're awesome. Need more Yuri and can't wait for another character I'm looking forward to seeing show up.

Really looking forward to next episode as it still has one of my favorite tests till date. Curious how they'll adapt it since there is a fair amount of dialogue. I hope they spend the time.

I personally liked the first episode over this one mostly because I like getting presented with so many questions and it really gets me hyped up to figure them all out from watching the series. I just like getting presented with cool visuals and dope ass music and the first episode delivered as I loved the setting and backgrounds far more than the ones in this episode. I think the best part of this episode was when the two struggling to get past the water wall were able to and how they handled the music there was really dope. I also liked how there was some comradeship between them after they both made it through. Other than that I was kinda disappointed about the way I think it might be going if its just going to be them completing trials. I really hope some cool stuff happens that makes this tower climbing way more interesting.

It's a long journey, but the current season of Webtoon is no longer about completing tests, which I liked very much. The Tower is a big place with lots to explore!

enjoying this so far. The line art seems inconsistent though. We get the uneven inky line art (forgot the actual term for this) when characters are close up and then we have the normal modern anime line art approach. it constantly switches between the two and it feels a bit intrusive to me.

Definitely better than the first episode, this is why people should give it three episodes rules and stop reviewing a series while it only got one episode. Just give it the damn three episodes rules, and then there you go~

Unfortunately they skipped part when Lero Ro explained about Urek Mazino. But, great episode nonetheless!

Got better. Evened out the pace of the first episode with some action, so there's that. Prolly that starting an introduction somewhat heavily will have hindered the success of this anime, but that its action will make it popular enough to be worth talking about. Also, I wonder how devoted will prove the main male to this Raquel?
@kazuyaslayer47 I agree with the fact you can better try a series with more exposure, though still believe the first episode rule to be superior. If a series cannot first spark your interest with its start, it deserves not to be watched. Sure, there are gems out there for the caring enough, but most people will not be willing to invest so much time and resources for fewer entertainment return...

Makes me wonder, can't MAL stop people from rating anime before a certain number of episodes, like how everyone can't review chapters before a certain number of episodes? If they can remove reviews before 4 out of 13 episodes are aired, surely they can do this for ratings too?

Well ep 2 was better then the 1st but I still don't understand the massive hype for this anime.

So far it looks like a generic, most random clone of SAO aincrad.

Also, because of Kenjiro Tsuda as VA of Lero-Ro I still hear him as Narihisago Akihito from Id:Invaded.

Overall i would say the pacing was better than the first episode. There was some skipped/changed content (e.g doesn't mention that irregulars are feared due to their strength and the dialogue to the dude who couldn't get through the barrier that one day everybody is confronted by their limits, which i feel was a central theme in S1 of the webtoon. There's also that whole added thing where Bam said he belonged to Rachel and though i get she's basically a mother to him..c'mon)
Either way, the changes were less drastic than the first episode (such as that shit where Yuri gave Bam Black March nearly entirely because of he has a cute face or whatever and barely mentioning the actual reasons, probably because they're adapting 78 chapters into 13 episodes), so i would say not only is the pacing better but it felt more faithful to the source material aswell.
I'd give it a 4/5, though my assessment wont be nearly as accurate on judging purely the anime when compared to an anime only viewer.

Leroro did say that irregulars are usually insanely strong although he was cut off so it was easy to miss in the episode.

So far, you're the only one who thinks that way. This episode is definitely way better than the first. Explains a lot of things that were missing from the first.

I personally got more questions than answers.
"Who is this adidas kid and when do they kill him off?"
"Wow is Yuri actually a good character? When do we see more of her?"
"Why would you rely on luck to climb the tower that's stupid?"
"How the hell is MC kid not dead yet?"

and many more. only question i got the answer to was "what are irregulars?".

I think these questions aren't a valid criticism at this moment (2nd episode). Like of course no one knows who the adidas Kid is or if we'll see Yuri more.

Also, we're watching the show to find out how the MC kid is not dead, although Im a little bothered with his plot armor during the battle like you were. So far I'm enjoying the potential of ideas for this world and the characters and vibe reminds me of HxH.

I really enjoyed this episode, just wish the MC wasn't as naive and weak as he is, hopefully, there will be a satisfactory character development that makes sense so we can champion him more cause so far there's no one I care to live or die.
if his girlfriend is dead too i don't care either. I'd like to see how they'll make me care.

The first half was still fast paced, but at least not as inconsistent as last time and it didn't feel like I was missing out on info either.

Also like the characters and I'm genuinely interested to see more of them. Lol @ Shimisu, tho.

Definitely an enjoyable episode overall. As I said in the thread for episode 1. This is pretty much my favorite type of series and therefore it's pretty hard for it to fail at providing entertaiment. Agree with others that the episode felt like it was 5min long xD It's just not as polished as it should be to be considered really great and to leave a strong impression. But well, we're still in the early stage and I should give it more time to grow on me. The potential to become a favorite is there.

The floors other fighters sure look to be pretty interesting characters in their own right as shown in the dual between Anaak and Haltz. Its nice to see Bam find his first ally in this trial though. Still his decision to throw down his weapons in an effort to convince Gator sure was a gutsy if rather risky move. Still it was amusing seeing Bam and Khun literally force Rak to join them. Rak sure developed a quick love of chocolate though. Bam sure had quite the luck though being spared the sudden trial that the admin threw up. That trial though sure presented some interesting moments though with the sleeping guy being the most unique. Thats some effort that tracksuit guy and his rival put in but im glad that they managed to break through as well. Overall an interesting ep that while continuing the trial of the 2nd floor also introduced some interesting new characters while expanding upon the lore. Rak and Khun in particular have quite the interesting relationship. Can't wait to see what happens in the next test.
