Well, the first thing that comes to mind for this anime is "quirky". But it's a unique and interesting kind of quirky. I can't say I loved it, but I did like it. Minare is really energetic and I like how obscure her references feel (at least to me, like Bossa Nova covers of J-pop tunes?). To be honest, I had no idea what was happening in the first half with that bear. And I'm still not entirely sure lol

A show to look at this season definitely.

I like anime which are more on the weird side so I think this is pretty good. I guess this is more for the mature audience, too.

I hope the direction it takes doesn't change.

Quite the unusual first episode, to say the least. I thought I prepared myself with the PVs and whatnot but this was certainly not what I was expecting. Still pretty good though!

Our MC kind of feels like a matured version of Eripyo-san from Oshi Budoukan last season, and I loved it honestly. She's such a good actor though, I thought for sure that she was in the mountains until the reveal lol.

Not the nicest move from the Director to record and then play this on his radio but I suppose he saw something in her? However that may be, I have absolutely no clue how radio shows work.

Comedy was honestly a hit-or-miss and this is clearly something the Japanese audience would understand better, but I'd a fairly great time so I'm looking to more! Damn, that ED song is soothing btw. And tacica for the Op, I haven't heard an Op/ED from them since Haikyu!! and it makes me wonder why their songs haven't featured much in the medium yet.

This was great, a completely new idea and a totally over the top main character who can rant like one friend of mine but also looks like another friend of mine.

I knew nothing about this before I watched it so thought it had something to do with the sea looking at the title.

From the author of Blade of the Immortal comes one that has a unique setting like last season's Runway de Waratte.

It's the usual Sunrise production, so yeah that's in anyway of what they have done over the years.

Even in the manga, MC Koda Minare has that flare, and although in the anime it's voiced by someone else, the same feelings eject to fluidness, which is just great.

Being a radio DJ isn't as easy of a job, one that's often confined by the directors and mixing engineers to do what they're capable of according to social standards and raking in listenership.

Same as Oshi Budoukan, the comedy is hit-or-miss, but provides the atmosphere for a goody two-shoes premise. Is it one to fuel your unknowing desires, or one to debate about?

For the radio director to use Koda's words for her start as a total amateur into radio, WOW THAT WAS BALLS TO THE WALL some backstabbing shit.

OP/ED are both good as well.

One of the better premieres so far, very intrigued, not to mention interesting.

I liked it. It was refreshing to listen to the pissed off rambling of that woman after watching so many run-of-the mill series about cute girls, teen angst and the like, but I am afraid it as well can become stale after a few episodes and her voice at times was a bit irritating. Anyway it will spice up this season for me that is for sure.

Out of everything this season, this is the show I had the highest hopes for, besides BNA, and you know what? It's pretty fucking good.

The characters are all fun and hilarious the art style matches the more adult tone incredibly well. It's the one complaint I have about similar shows to this like Shirobako and Sakura Quest (both of which I love) that the characters are drawn like typical, boring useable-at-any-stated-age anime girls. Here, the characters actually look like adults for once.

To be honest, I was a little bit lost at the beginning before they revealed what the bear thing actually was, but other than that, one of the best shows of the season, right here.

The forum score is pretty high but the anime page score is less than 7.0. This looks pretty niche, difficult to keep up with fast and heavy mature dialogue but hopefully would have good moments that people will start to pick it up.

It was necessary to give viewers a head start on what kind of series they are getting into. Without this, episode 1 would have fell short by 10 minutes easily. This bear and blabbering scene happens at later part of manga. Else they adapted first chapter completely.

And this series was got 4th position in Manga Taisho Awards 2020. Before that it got 5th rank in 2017 awards of the same. You can guess source material is incredibly good and Sunrise did a damn good job with this adaptation.

It was full of blabbering and screaming, at some point it was annoying yet it was fun to watch because of that high level of energy. The animation's really good but that round shadow looking thing really pisses me off. Still I'll continue listening to Minare's blabberings.

This was a good, refreshing first episode. The market right now is saturated with cliche high school shows so this was much needed! The protag is pretty relatable and the show is fun so far.

The score is pretty unfair since a lot shows that are average are rated in the 7 range, but aight?

and why is that mado guy acting all high and mighty and shit and saying how he'd get fired there's silence for like 7 seconds or something so he's making her talk he's the one who made her complaints public without her permissions isn't that illegal?? or is it not in japan? so why is he acting like she's in the wrong here? he should be scared she can sue him for this.

Wow! First, I just want to get out of the way that I will never understand the scoring of this kind of shows at the beginning of seasons. Less than a 7? Seriously???

But well, to be honest, the larger part of the market is aimed towards adolescents, and though I like shows about adolescents (when they're well done), I just can't understand why people will just downvote something because it's about adults?

But I'm getting ahead of myself. I know it wasn't downvoted because of that. It was probably because of that, AND because it's quirky and unique as fuck. Come on, a show about radio broadcasting, and a middle 20's girl going through some normal middle 20's girls stuff? And also getting her personal shit broadcasted without her consent? Well, that obviously won't sit well for regular anime watchers.

Or maybe it will. Funny how most of the reviews in the forum are positive, even though the score is so low. And the show totally deserves it. It has a kind of humor that is very anime, but not too exaggerated, and it was the subtle humor what got me the most (Like when someone says "This is gonna get good" while the sound worker says "Great, mixing this is going to be a pain in the ass"). If you've ever worked editing sound, those jokes are just pure gold.

And the main character also feels so fresh compared to many other animes, even the ones about adults. She feels fresh because she's honest, but also insecure, and pretty damn quirky (I loved when she said "Great, I cried with the movie! But that was a gory movie") It honestly reminds me of a friend, so it seemed pretty realistic to me.

The dialogue felt so good. It truly felt like people in their 20's talking. And that is also a rarity in anime. All in all, from the script to the great direction, the high production values, and the quirky humor, this is one of the fresher premieres I've seen in a while, and I hope more people give it a chance. Because when I hear the words "anime for adults", this is kind of what would come to mind for me.

(ALso, a Cinema Paradiso reference in the preview of the next episode? that just finished me off. I'm completely sold now)

If you didn’t like the dialogue・monologue from this ep turn back now, that’s pretty much entirely what this show is about.

I wish they’d just started the show from the Izakaya scene as they did in the manga. Starting out not knowing what the show was about was part of the charm then, but we lost that with the bear scene and the op. Not to mention the bear scene didn’t feel all that great in itself either.

I was also somewhat disappointed that they made use of sfx to treat the last line. Considering the nature of the show, I wish they had just left it all on the VA.

Overall though, decent start. The VA for Minare is supposed to be new to the job, but she seems to be doing a fine job so far. I’ve been looking forward to hearing Minare in the flesh ever since reading the first chapter, so this should be a good experience.

There’s no way a monologue show needs that many people in the control room. Unrealistic.

I’ve seen DJ’s do it all solo. I can see maybe an assistant for tech but no more than that.

Anyway, I loved it. The content was great!

The first episode was pretty good but I'll rate it a 6 for now and will bump up my score depending on how it goes. It really is charming but this is a niche series for people who love radio. I'm gonna be honest, I don't listen to a lot of radio unless I'm at a convenience store and the clerk put it on speaker.

Even though in real life, I rarely meet women complaining about being single even in their 30s, it's such a funny stereotype in Anime along with lolis, harems, etc. Even when I lived in Japan, I met lots of women in their 30s and even 40s who were single but weren't as dramatic as Minare. However, I'm guessing in this series, her romantic interest will be that old guy she met in the bar.

Protagonist is really charismatic and I love all the Role-play things the Radio put in the beginning. I got a little confused at the middle but regained the focus later on, really appreciated the different air of this anime.

It took me re-watching the episode, and paying really close attention to what she was saying, before I really started liking it.

First time through, I was like "well, she was super-energetic and eccentric, but those long radio segments just went on and on, and I could barely comprehend what was going on and what the emotional significance of all of this eccentricity was, so idk?"

Second time through, really taking time to look at every single word that was spoken during those radio segments, and this show is a FASCINATING character study of a 25-something woman coming to terms with her own failings and her own personal demons through her eccentric radio rants.

This show is not the easiest to watch, but it has some really interesting things to say about the narratives we tell ourselves to remain sane when things go wrong in our lives. I really liked it!

You never know... Unless the issue is something like sound is really bad, or you just can't even stand the animation, even if the genres may not be of your taste, I belive you at least gotta give it 3 episodes chances. Remember the 3 episodes rules.

I belive that it could do great thing, and dropping it directly in the first episode with that uncertainty might end being bad for you. Thought I agree with you, and might drop if this keep till episode 3 (because i hate cyclics animes, unless they're as good comedies as asobi asobase o aho girl), I belive that it might surprises us.

You could at least give it a chance chance by watching it and skipping what makes you bored.
Do you have a recommendation for this new season anime that has this level of animation (art?)?
