| I think it’s on a case to case basis, and it depends on what you mean by loli. My understanding of loli were girls of an extremely young (prepubescent) age like 12. I don’t think sexualization of characters like that is in any way acceptable, cartoon or not. But since joining MAL I see to some people Loli just means someone who appears very young. I haven’t seen the show/character you’re talking about so I will use Taiga from Toradora as one example. While she is short and “flat” I don’t think she appears childish otherwise, and is 17-18 in the show. I’ve seen other people refer to her as a loli, so that’s semi acceptable imo. I’m going to use hagani (something I’ve avoided because I’m told it’s basically child porn) as the other example. The synopsis says it takes place in highschool, however the entire cast looks like middle school kids. To me this is obviously trying to portray prepubescent girls in a sexual manner with an unfitting age loosely thrown in it to make it seem more acceptable. This I find slightly more disturbing. |
