I imagined her (akira)'s voice to be a bit more softer when i was reading the manga.
Not bad still though.

I have not read the manga before. Loved the first episode, it was pretty cute. Maybe it is just me but I feel bothered that all of the animation is top notch but the face shots of Tachibana weirdly give me the 90s anime vibe. Maybe it is intentional due to art style, definitely not a deal breaker.

After The Rain has a pretty solid opening episode. There is a good balance of humor and character exploration, with just enough romance to get me curious about what happens next. Great direction, intriguing character design, good pacing, and beautiful presentation. Very impressed!

I'm quite surprised this was actually good I got interested in this anime two months ago when I so promotional video not even the trailer was released the art was so fabulous I got hooked right away and the story is quite intriguing, my thoughts on the first episode is quite good the restaurant design is well done but the kitchen area is too small couldn't they make it bigger the school just looks plain boring, and it seems she was in the running club I don't know if that's even the right way to say it though and she quit because of her injury.

Aside from the snffing part it was quite good 4/5

I'm not really a fan of romances but decided to start it just for the Wit Studio's visuals. And yeah it looked beautiful

I liked the mood, and the characters didn't feel too generic. The girl was acting creepy at times but in a funny way.
(Also I loved how the opening got so weird and random at one point lol.)

when I first picked up the manga, I thought the story was so weird. However, my mind completely changed after reading more of it. I believe this first episode did a really good job in setting the tone of the series. I can't wait to watch the rest!

I like the mood this show gives but that romance is so not my thing.
The "romance" between Maika and Dino already felt pretty awkward to me once it was revealed he was ten years older, and now we have another teenager with a 45 year old guy...
Age gaps didn't use to bother me before but idk, guess that's not my fetish.
Will keep watching to see how it goes tho

Also if someone gave me coffe without me asking I wouldn't fall in love, I'd find it very inconvenient since I really dislike coffe and would be to shy to say it, so I'd have to drink it and ugh

Pretty mediocre show so far. Had to pause several times because of intentionally awkward scenes that were uncomfortable to watch. Main character is unlikable but the old guy seems okay.

Sadly the best part of this show so far are the visuals.

this was awesome. expected something much more sad and serious.

show is extremely chill and she doesn't seem depressed at all. also, the age gap premise is going to be a bit more tolerable because shes got a fetish for old dudes and is the initiator

Was really enjoyable and liking the visuals. Expect that at least from Wit.

Poor guy that keeps trying to get her ID, forever friend zone. Actually not even friend zone, even lower.

Lulz at the smelling his shirt scene and casually going back to eating despite being caught in the act.

Been a while since I've heard anything from Aimer too, nice they teased us it with her listening to it on her phone. Haven't seen the PVs so didn't know.

wild of all shows to have both Honeyworks and Aimer is this ,thought it was good main girl is the odd one , while i can see this romance being a huge issue to some people i'm kinda just whateva though that age gap is huge ,art is nice too has a 80-90s look to it while still being modern enough.

Honeyworks OP and Aimer ED is awesome. :D

I really liked the focus on the atmosphere of the show rather than just throwing exposition with dialogue. The shots with Tachibana's eyes are fantastic.

I keep seeing people say this show is visually beautiful. Are we watching the same show? The character designs are pretty meh- especially the really long necks. Very little detail in any side-character at all. Lot of things just look really "Flat". Close ups of the eyes were good, though. Backgrounds were gorgeous, but not a level we don't see very often.

Actual story and such was pretty entertaining. Still wondering if they'll do this tastefully enough to not be gross. I definitely have faith that they will, though. Easily the best OP of the season for me, and the ending is in the top 2 for sure. I need to hear the full versions ASAP

If you compare it to general anime then its not outstanding but its good on its own.

But, when you compare this in terms of consistency to stuff like MahoYome and SnK, both shows that were relying on a lot of outsourcing (from what I'm getting), then this is by far better in terms of artwork. Because those two fall off a lot. Though I would compare this more than MahoYome's work and style.

But yeah as for the story and everything else its really good so far, and I think it'll go well if it keeps consistent like this.

Honestly expected to get attacked for my comment. Thanks for explaining your opinion really well. That actually makes a lot of sense. I really appreciate your taking the time to write that up.

Adding onto my original thoughts -

This is easily one of the most interesting stories of the season. I was really expecting to see far more backlash at the plot than what I have seen so far online. High school girls falling for older men is very common and realistic. When done well, it can really be beautiful story. There's some live action Japanese movies I've seen with similar plot that I can't remember the titles of right now, but I remember at least one being really touching. I'm hoping this show makes me feel something in the end. In a season full of slice-of-life, it would be great to have something with emotional power.

Oh I get that and I do understand the concern. But I didn't really see the comment as something very negative, you just didn't really get when it came to people praising the artwork. That may be because of how the color is used in certain scenes, as well as how these said colors etc does reflect in what Akira feels. At least how I see it because in the manga you do kind of get it but not completely. It's a form of using effects in order to understand the emotions of her character.

WIT is known for their works but recently their stuff hasn't been strong when it came to production. While I can't comment on Shingeki no Kyoujin S2 a lot, because I haven't seen it just yet but I have heard they were having some difficult time with the production of the show. And as for MahoYome, yes it LOOKS good, but you can really see that there's some off face and some of the looks doesn't go well.

Koi wa Ameagari is strong in that regard since as far as I'm concerned, they actually have their actual staff there. The OP btw is storyboarded by the director so that's an keen note. Designs may look meh, but I think the effect is the strength of the show, along with the expression the show brings in occasions. I do expect it to fall off in consistency at some point due to the thing that the studio is currently at, but so far it looks far better by their standards. General? There are better works out there. But for WIT this is the most stunning one in my opinion.

As for the "backlash" part (both your comment and the show):

1. I can see why because heck, I even saw the forums from certain shows and my problem was that: If people did not liked those type of series, then why the hell did they watched them to begin with, and then bash it because you hate concepts like that? I mean its one thing to not like something but if you go out of your way to watch it even though you're aware that you'll hate it, then why bother?

2. This series has a taboo subject, which a lot of people got worried that it'll go into "sexualization" part. Fortunately, it hasn't come to that as the manga and the series itself treats its characters with formility and respect. Or just respect in general. They're real people that are flawed in their own ways, which is what makes the series interesting and wonderful.

People do tend to get ticked off for that and I understand, but if done well then it can be done well. If not, it doesn't. Simple.

Now as for the story itself, yeah I have seen this before played in old Spanish drama shows, there was one that I recalled that was a bit unrealistic in some regards, but this one was about an teenager that was trying to get to University, and a teacher. In some degree it was done realistically, but it kinda fell off afterwards. In this its more of acceptance, insecurities and regret as well as other stuff that are touched such as Akira's character growth as well as the Manager's end, which all of those were executed well in the manga. Don't know how the anime will handle these in the later parts, but I do hope for the best.

Since i am 37 and with a child i can relate with him.

I think this anime is right on the mouche for several aspects..age Gap diffrence, working environment, anorexia or something akin, love and the difference of a 45 yold maturity love with a 17yold and the future. Really enjoying. The art and music are marvelous. Season anime so far.

Great op and ED, really neat atmosphere too, definitely one of the better starts this season. The theme itself will probably draw some backlash from the community itself, but it needs to be seen if it can remain mature and tasteful enough for it to succeed(in irl age gap relationships are nothing new). If anything can be judged by the early signs, then it promises to be good.
