THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
I'm actually pretty interested in the background storytelling of this series now. The way they added in the eerie background music made it more entrancing to watch.

Pretty tense episode. All the dark themes and that awakening gave me the chills with the killer.
Hiraga is also more intelligent than I had expected. I do like the approach they took to solving the case, a lot of fine details examined.

--Puzzle Beneath the Stained Glass of all set of Martys--

And Yes the code is more than a subliminal message that needs to get identified.
So far the deaths are coming towards of from that mosaic stain glass, Mostly others are full of false accusations. Neither the tears comes out but only assuming it's just water when it got stored back into it's current state.

..The Twist.. is just getting better but still FLAT..

THE DEVIL MAY.. RISES UPON it's slumber.. as he awakens..

As soon as the direction will be a lot Constantine, Somehow I'll never regret it

More people being murdered, and they're being killed like the martyrs. It's getting interesting now. I'm definitely convinced now that the church they are staying in is hiding something. And what is this beast?

I got shocked when the old guy Joseph started screaming. I thought he was already dead.

Three people murdered in one episode. They were being killed like the martyrs on the stained-glass windows. Father Joseph screaming spooked me. I thought he was already dead. Hiraga is quite smart. So far, he solved one mystery.

I'm shook. This story is so tense, so interseting and so good. Could be season favourite for me if they keep this up.

I'm still not sold on this show, but I thought it was better than the first episode, 3 deaths in one episode and they're all getting killed in a similar fashion to the martyrs. More progress is being made on this case and the way things were being pieced together was interesting enough. Looks like Hiraga and Roberto are going to have to enter Michael Brown's office to solve this, despite it being off limits.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

MAL is literally just anime Twitter as its own website lol.

This was a pretty good episode, wasn't sure if the first one was promising but this one definitely made things more interesting. The pacing is still too fast though.

A bit scarier than the first episode.
Seems like the anime is doing a pretty good job with the background music and all.

The story is pretty interesting but if they spend the whole season investigating only this mystery then it won't be worth it.

This is rather very slow, don't tell me that the whole 12 ep only covers them being in bRazil?

Ok so what's wrong with this animes plot?

1. Brazil was never part of WW2,
2.Names weren't even Portuguese.
3. Brazil has a hot climate .

Story reminds me a lot of the Name of the Rose novel (what a great book!). Not as good of course, but very similar storywise.

Loved the intensity and the chilling yet thrilling tone that lasted throughout the entire episode and it truly goes to show that you can't really judge a series just based off of the first ep

The mystery aspect of this episode was very well done too and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed seeing our 2 MC's use their brain and experience to solve all that they did so far

In addition to this, I like that they're keeping things within the theme of the Church and that the murders are very relevant with this theme as well, plus it's starting to seem like none of my suspects is behind these crimes which is very exciting for me

Can't wait to see how this all gets concluded and to find out who was that guy at the end (It will be VERY fucked up if the pregnant virgin gets murdered)

I picked this show to watch cause I was just IN the Vatican in March (though really they've shown very little of Rome except in the opening and ending), and it's... okay. The show is like... 90% panning shots over people talking, it's overly dramatic with its music cues, and the ED sets off all kinds of alarms on my gaydar.

That said, I am drawn to the mystery aspect of the show.

I thought they said it was on Mexico.
Also, Brazil took part in WW2 even if it was right at the end
And i think he meant that he came from Europe to where he is now when the war ended

Wow man... I don't know exactly why but I'm really enjoying these episodes and they... well joseph... started to solve some misteries about the murder and the statue already. Moreover, the dark atmosphere and the background music fit perfectly well with the different scenes and I think that's why I feel even more interested in the plot.

Fortunately, the mistery will be solved by next ep. but so far, I found this "arc" really interesting.

1. Brazil participated in WW2
2. The events are in Mexico, and the characters came from Europe after WW2
3. Despite being known for the tropical climate, there are parts of Brazil (South and Southeast, in particular) that reach very low temperatures

This was a lot better than the first episode and I agree with the others that the pacing for the mystery is done well. For some reason I thought it would all be solved in this episode, but I'm glad that it isn't.

I think the guy who stopped them from going into the room is working with the seance kids. Carlos was freaking out in the last episode, so he was probably a part of the first death. That would explain how the statue got moved, since one person can't carry something that big to the fountain and back. There was one bloody set of foot prints, but that doesn't mean that only one person is part of this conspiracy.

A case of serial murders in a closed environment? I'm in ! Too bad it isn't supported by more than the strict minimum in terms of direction and technicality.

3/5

@Whoahoho
Each volume of the original Vatican Miracle Examiner light novel sends the priests to new locations like Africa, Britain, Norway, and Mexico in order to solve mysteries surrounding so-called miracles. It’s hard to tell at the pace the show is going if it will cover more than just the first volume’s serial murder case, but it would be interesting to see how the visuals and possibly music would change if they got that far.

Well, not a bad episode and the stuff were kind of interesting but i have 2 problems with this show:
1th the whole environment is just too dark and u hardly can see the details.
2ed is that, they just keep jumping from one scene to another, i mean i understand that they got a lot of stuff to cover but they need to put some interval between the different parts of the story.

Really didnt like the first episode because it was confusing as hell and with a incredibly fast pacing, but i realized that i need to fully concentrate in this anime in order to understand anything and so i did it for this episode and i.... Liked it, actually understood all of the stuff that was shown and very invested in the story already lol. Mystery part is really intriguing. I like the overall setting and the feeling that anime gives me, mysterious,religious-related cases are very interesting.

Phew thank god i like the anime now, otherwise it would've been really hard to watch

I'm still trying to get a feel for this series.

Is it a mystery series with multiple episodes per case?

Anyways, things got more interesting this episode.

(though it seems unlikely that one person could move a statue around so easily.)

Dolores is a common name in brazil and other countries, like spain. As people said, this church is located in Mexico. Not all the names are latin but priests could travel to live in other countries, so I don't see any problem with that

And I don't think this show is slow. Actually, in some parts, they explain things pretty fast

And for some reason they refer to Mexico as part of the American South in the first episode. I'm just going to chalk it up to the Japanese writers not knowing much about the Americas or our history. At least all the characters aren't blond.

Truly I say to you, this is the hidden gem of this season. I'm really liking it so far. Though I didn't really expect this series to be this dark. I expected a bit more light hearted series instead I got satanism with sacrifices.

And MAL score doesn't bothers me (stopped caring a long time about sucha useless thing). In the first hand this series is clearly aimed for adults. So it doesn't surprises me why the score is this low. In the other hand knowing today's people and their lack of faith and this series already showed a lot of faith in Biblical God, I guess it strucks some militant atheists viewers to hate this series (not necessary to hate but to despise).

Could someone explain the logic behind the water and Maria statue crying to me, please. How is the fact that the base have a higher temperature suggest anything? That it was being carried?
And if the statue was just wet, why was there such emphasis on water from the eyes?

Interesting episode

Seems this branch of the church is in more serious trouble than initially thought then. The image of Mary crying though was sudden though. First the virgin conception and now tears from Mary this branch sure is interesting. Father Michael sure was a caring soul though. The reaction of that priest when they wanted to access father Michael's room sure was strange. Hmm a devil's summoning as a prank eh churches sure are weird. My this church is full of problems it seems. My My double murders in one night with scary after death care for the victims. First its teeth now its eye balls. To think these murders are mimicking the martyrs though. Murders and miracles eh this episode sure isn't lacking in action and intrigue. Now the rain has cut them off as well. This blend of science and tech with faith and investigation sure is interesting though.

So the tears were caused by the killer washing the statue eh. But man death by statue will be a new one to add to the books. What started as a straightforward case sure turned into a triple murder though. The devil triple six eh. The devil himself has awakened damm what an ominous message.

The dark intensity done well this ep, much better than 1st.
Many mystery details, waiting for things to mesh.
Carlos weird reaction, maybe the student accomplice following the adult's footprints.
Students play these seance devil games rather seriously.
Evesdropping guy with garden scissors.
Wizard master (mask like the ones in Berserk 2017).
Weird eye guy visits Anna.

Common mystery pattern, usually guy (maybe Michael?) who was wronged by a group (killed martyrs), actually never died & wants revenge.

Vatican pair has 2 goals, but get sidetracked by murders. Lots of questions.
