You can bypass the character limit with alt+0160 (it's basically a space but unlike a real space it counts as a character)

Maybe it's because I'd followed the manga from its early days, but the hate Mirai Nikki eventually came to pick up just feels more like a forced meme than anything real to me. It's very bizarre to me.

The same goes for how much people have come to hate the character Haruhi Suzumiya. It's so odd.

I wouldn't call Mirai Nikki disliked, but controversial/polarising.
Fair enough! Might just be the places I look around.

Yeah, you know what, I actually agree with this one. After hearing about how the anime ruined the manga and then finally checking the manga out, I have to say, I think I actually preferred the crazy trip that the anime was.

What's weirder is that the anime... didn't even seem to have even cut out that much anyway, so I'm not sure where the opinion that it "ruined" the source came from to begin with.

And here I am and Thought Studio DEEN's Fate/Stay Night sucks and to think you pointed out within's animation and way better than UBW (I referring the movie)

Any how, The story is quite more decent, from what I expected and totally focuses on Saber's view (Not Like I care about Fate Shirou cause he's way more dense)

The Battle Between Gilgamesh and Saber is a well done, and Gil was very satisfied and very delightful on how his expectations of what he called treasures (including her) are indeed luxurious and also geniunely valuable

Exactly The fight was truly satisfying...

I admit that Guilty Crown isn't all that great, but damn it. I enjoyed that bloody thing. I actually liked Oh my Shoe too. Shame it ended the way it did. The terrorists fucked him enough as is, life didn't need to join the gang-rape.

Thanks to the above dude for reminding me about Genei wa Kakeru Taiyou. It really bugged me how, every single week, the same people would be on the discussion threads complaining about how it's ripping off of Madoka just because it didn't take any liberties regarding the safeties of the main characters. I mean, we all know Madoka was the first one to do that... seriously, fuck those people. It was fine. In fact, I'd say it was better than Madoka.

This is cheating since a lot of people love it, but I'm also gonna add in Naruto. I don't care if it became so "predictable" or "cliched", it was fucking great. What's worse is that a lot of it's haters hadn't actually seen the bloody anime.

I can name 3. Chaos Dragon, Hand Shakers and Glasslip. Sure they have their problems but they're still WAY better than most of the shit out there. Especially Glasslip.

Here we go again, and like before, the one that comes to mind the most is Grisaia no Kajitsu. Yes, I get it, it's one of the most unfaithful adaptations out there and there was so much that I wanted to see after I read the VN, but man did I enjoy it thoroughly. Enough to the point that it's my most rewatched series.

After completing the manga and rewatching the series recently, I have grown to adore Akame ga Kill! Despite it diverging a lot and a whole arc being omitted from the anime I loved it unashamedly. I'm hoping for a remake though (if rumors are to be believed.)

I believe Ergo Proxy is severely underrated by the anime community.
Also, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind is probably one of the least talked about films from Studio Ghibli.

There is one. Joker Game.
I see why most folks disliked it - is due to the episodic nature of the anime and allegedly too hard to distinguish the spies one from the other. Exactly all that didn't bother me in slightest; probably because I spontaneously invested my mind in the series with all the stuff it presented since the beginning. Even after the 4th episode, I could tell the names of each spy, out of curiousity wanting to know them. Had no problem with what the anime offered since the very start because I accepted everything the way it was. Ngl tho - the first two episodes are superior compared to the rest of it. Still, I love the anime as a whole. Never had a better breath of fresh air watching something alike.

Mostly some of the most polarizing/controversial series like School Days and Yosuga no Sora I guess. Though I guess you can't call those "series that everyone seems to dislike" because that's certainly not true

According to the [Diff] sorting function on Malgraph, my most positive score differential compared to the MAL score is for the Bikini Warriors OVA though kek

A lot of people got burned over which girl "won"-- rival ships in the fandom were pretty heated throughout the whole show-- but I think most people who dislike the anime missed the whole point of it.

Even if you don't care about the general underlying narrative or the story-within-a-story subplotline, it's worth watching because it's a romance triangle where for once it isn't clear who will "win".

For me, I would have to say Dragon Ball Super. Since my return from a hiatus, I've only really opened up to DBS because it was old, yet new at the same time. Still need new series, though.

Nope, because regardless of reasoning there's a 50/50 shot you'll be right anyway. :3

We both hate White Album 2, but strictly in terms of obviousness of who will "win", I think True Tears is comparable. If you could predict it there, you probably can here too.

I liked it from the first episode, when everyone else hated it. It was fast paced, but very well directed, with every shot making sure the viewer focuses on what is necessary. I thought the characters were charming, and Yuta Gamon had a great little character progression that kept me invested in him, and I related to him too. The fast pacing captured the feeling I associate with the mind of occultists, and the direction, while unconventional, was very effective at making sure I focus on the important stuff while keeping the chaotic atmosphere that compliments its story. It's also got some incredible foreshadowing which gives it tons of rewatch value. On top of that it's really good looking and has an amazing OP and ED.

+1.
The first episode was definitely a mess and I can see why a lot of people dropped it, but honestly I thought it got better with each episode. I never had a problem with the characters talking at the speed of light, I found it engaging. I thought the story was incredible and like you said, the direction was definitely unorthodox but I think it worked well with the show. Also the OP and ED happened to be among my favorites for that particular season. I guess I understand why a lot people had issues with it, but I found it to be an enjoyable ride from start to finish.

Anime was the catalyst of my life's downward spiral.
Joining MAL was the nail in my coffin.

True that is I suppose.

Well the thing is... I predicted white album 2 but at the same time I did not predict it at all. So I don't know how to take that.

Nevertheless you kinda got me intrigued about it, I was planning to watch it anyways but I guess I will move it up to the high priority list.

Two of my top 3 animes of all time are hated by a bunch of anime fans:

1- White Album (AKA White Album 1).

White Album 1 is hated mainly because fans prefer White Album 2, even though White Album 2 is just meh

2- Glasslip

Glasslip is hated mainly because fans prefer Nagi No Asukara, even though Asukara is just moe drama

I saw Cross Ange recently and loved it. The first five episodes were pretty bad tbh, and that's probably what turned a lot of people away, but it got a lot better after that. The show didn't take itself seriously, it was absolutely ridiculous and so much fun, I had a great time watching it.

I absolutely adore Club-To-Death Angel Dokuro-chan & Angel Cop. Judging by their scores on MAL they aren't as beloved as I thought. There is nothing I love more than an Anime that takes its ridiculous premise and goes WAY over the top with it. We need more of this!!!!!!

Erased
Yuri on Ice (kinda, the fans and haters get really extreme over this show)
ACCA 13-ku (one of my favorite show but a lot of people find it too slow. I find the worldbuilding intriguing)
Season 2 of Darker than Black (it wasn't too bad)
Hamatora (full of plot holes but i find it super entertaining and I like the characters a lot)
Joker Game (i like all the clever stuff the spies do)
Makai Ouji: Devils and Realists (i like the character design and the inheritance plot)
Shounen maid (less dislike, more like no one ever talks about it)

and of course, the obligatory SAO. I quite like the first half.

I came here to say the same.
I know that a few characters were out of character. But I genuinely enjoyed it. (Not being a Evangelion fanboy here , I really did enjoy it)

My nostalgic answer would be Final Fantasy: Unlimited. I know that if I watched it now I would probably really dislike it, but it was one of my first anime and I absolutely fell in love with it. Naruto is another one I adored (not including filler).
As for shows I watched as an adult, I rather enjoyed Psycho-Pass 2. Of course it wasn't nearly as good as the first season, but I really did enjoy it and don't regret watching it at all.
I also JUST watched Zankyou no Terror, and while it did start to fall apart towards the end, I still had a good time with it.

Deen Fate/Stay Night. As much of a bad adaptation it was, I cannot bring myself to dislike it. Apart of being the series who introduced me to the Fate franchise, it has a very good soundtrack (better than the one of the UBW anime) and the ending was very good, even if it was sad.

Ah, I see you're a man of culture as well.

How recent?

From old school shows I REALLY like yhe world building in Vampire Hunter D, Ghost Sweeper Mikami and Space Pirate Captain Harlock. All three of which are almost universally hated and quite frankly for good resons (None of them have aged that well)

From the middle of the road I'm going to say Ookamikakushi, Kuroshitsuji (This one is usually hated amongst MALE anime fans) and Level E.

And from recent memory.... Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash I guess? Most people dissed it as a SAO clone and those who didn't diss it as a SAO clone dissed it for being just another show to jump into the RPG bandwagon. It really isn't that impressive or groundbreaking if you stop to analyse it for more than 5 seconds but it has it's fair share of moments and as the story progresses the generic masks that all the characters in the show never seem to take off start to crack. Shame the main character is one of the most uninteresting fucks in history though.

Kagewani. I was honestly quite surprised with how poorly that anime was received when i looked at the MAL score. The monsters designs (wich are the main core of the series) were well drawn out and as a horror short it does a great job keeping the creepy atmosphere.

There is also Free and Oreimo, but in those cases to some extent i understand why many people were not fans of both series.

I definitely got burned with true tears. I simply could not get on board with that pairing. It's hard to appreciate the point of a story when the author dangles hope in front of your face only to crush it mercilessly at the end lol.

Fate stay night 2006. Even though the art and animation haven't aged well at all and it's a mediocre adaptation of the 'Fate' route I can't hate it. It was my first Fate series, the 'Fate' route is my personal favorite route and I'll always be on the Shirou x Saber ship until I reach the sweet shores of Avalon. Still desperately want a remake though.

Evangelion 3.0 I like the premise alot. But it was excuted horribly compared to 1.0 and 2.0 But I give it points for the premise.

Hard to think of an anime that I like but others dislike. I could name some polarising stuff that splits people but I enjoyed them like, Angel Beats (only anime I cried at), SAO (I would have stopped it after the 13th episode in season 1, the rest wasn't needed imo), Charlotte (some say its a trainwreck, but I was really into it until last few episodes), Gangsta (lots of potential but cut short due to studio going bust), Amnesia (not really looked at why people disliked it) plus more.

But I'll go with Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken (I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying). For an anime that is just basically 2/3 minute episodes, I thought it was quite funny and had a decent progression. Plus for being quite short in length its hard to go wrong with it.

No, but what happened literally was the point. To explain:

The story wasn't about who Shinichiro ended up with.

I'm aware. Believe it our not, I actually called the outcome at around episode 6 and just jumped to the end to confirm. Still couldn't like it, even if the actual point was to make someone cry 'true tears' it still wasn't enjoyable to watch for me.
