After having watched these 4 episodes, I'm really starting to grew fond of Orange.

What I specially like is how each episode so far creates a "peaceful" aura. The anime works with less, but straight talk and more scenic elements like music or animations of daily, maybe even petty things, but that suits so well and surround the whole episode with an incredible simpleness and yet deepness that is enjoyable to the spectator.

Orange really has a unique style. Really, really loving how it's made.

I wonder how the story will deploy. Suwa is showing himself as the big friend so far, I wonder how he and Naho will come together if Naho will change the future and things are going to be different.

Naho's choices and reactions are only natural of someone who wants to try to make the right choice. A little word called 'realistic' comes to mind. Characters like her do get too much criticism for making choices or having second thoughts that us viewers can relate to.

C'mon, people. You are comparing everyday situations with a critical situation. Kakeru lost his mother, Kakeru is depressed, Kakeru will die. The excessive shyness of Naho is unjustifiable at such a time. There is no realistic intentions here. Only melodramatic ones.

In fact, everything in this series has been that way. Seriously. I don't want anyone to stop watching or something, but let's face it, everything so far has been just about crushs. Who gets who and all that stuff. Again, the mother of the man committed suicide and he will die, be the boyfriend of the girl A or the girl B will not make any difference. Ueda exists only, I repeat, to create melodrama. So, the guy is depressed, but out of nowhere starts dating a girl he barely knows just because she has a pretty face? Please.

In the end everything worked out well this episode. But Naho really pissed me off with her saltiness. Just talk to the guy! She's ruining my enjoyment of the anime.

Beside life and death matter of Kakeru, I can somehow relate to Naho, and I am a guy.. I have experienced it in one point, when you love someone who already have a boyfriend, but in other side you know she is having something about you too.. I am a guy, I am the one who supposed to make one first move, but you know, I still can't do it.. I mean in one time you will think "what do you expect from someone's girlfriend (boyfriend in Naho's case), if they can have a relationship with someone at the same time they have a feeling (maybe bigger) for you, who know what will happen in the future", but still on one other time, I still can't move on from her ...

Glad to Kakeru and Naho talking again.

Wow, Ueda went from 0 to 100 really fast, blaming Kakeru for everything.

Glad he's deciding to break up with her

How is she being reckless? She's trying to do what the letter -- written by future Naho, as in one third of Suwa and the baby -- is telling her to do.

First post in... I don't know how many years.
But I really want to share my thoughts c:

I'm very impressed with Suwa's character.
I didn't think much of his character at the beginning (popular athlete, wants attention/ is loud, seems like he can get everything he wants, etc etc.), but he has completely surprised me.
He has been attentive and supportive of Naho, who he has feelings for, to make sure she's happy- even if it's with another guy. His character amazes me; he is ultimately making very selfless decisions. I kept waiting for the scene for him to "rescue" Naho by confessing his feelings, but I'm glad that he is choosing instead to help her get her feelings sorted out first. He is a really true friend.

With that said, I am leaning more towards a future where Suwa and Naho end up together.
I can't possibly imagine the story ending with a re-write of the future (Clannad-like). I just don't see their baby not existing due to future Naho writing past Naho about her regrets.

I feel like... either Kakeru will live (and not end up with Naho) or, most likely, pass away after living a life with no regrets.

I really can't imagine how the story will unfold, which makes me wish I hadn't picked it up until after it ended xD But I shall suffer with you all!

As for the other characters...
The 3 other friends, I love seeing them all hang out. I really liked the part where future Kakeru wrote about what he liked about each of them. I hope to see more development from them. Which I feel like we might... soon. Since the girls are starting to sense a change in Naho. If they find out about the letters, I wonder how the series would change from one person trying to change the future to all of them. I wonder what their involvement would be even if they don't find out about the letters.

Another thing... not much has been revealed about Kakeru and seems like each episode adds more to the mystery. Would his death be an accident or not? What would be the motive?
I have been crying in every episode and I predict that I will continue to as we get closer to the answers...

Ps. Is it just me, or does he look a lot like Kou from Au Haru Ride. He keeps popping into my mind whenever I see Kakeru.

My hope for the next episode is it starts with the recap of her thinking "I wonder who it is he's in love with?" The next scene is her reading the next page in her diary just saying 'It's you dipshit.'

That Ueda was really annoying, she got what she deserves I believe.

The story is quite great so far, it's interesting to see wither the future really changes if some things from the past were changed. that being said; I wonder what are Naho's true feelings toward Suwa, I mean he's the future husband after all but Naho desperately wants to save Kakeru, and clearly her feelings toward Kakeru are more genuine it seems.

LOL i just realized that this show has a classic romance drama which i don't kinda like it. but i didn't mean it in a bad way, i mean, "i don't like it because it's bad" that's not it. i just dislike it personality cause i just can't stand seeing those rivaly love in "classic romance" like in this episode. it somehow pissed me off so much. Ueda is obviously has a bad personality, but i still feel bad for her for getting dumped that easly just after a few month if i'm not wrong. it just like, it was meaningless or somethin like that. well, yeah, i mean, Ueda was pretty serious about her relationship with Kakeru from what i saw but just her personality is too....and it's kakeru fault too for looking at girl only from their looks. he didn't even know more about her and just date her like that, it's just wrong imo. that will happen if most people did that imo. i kinda know how much Ueda likes Kakeru but can't deny that she's at fault but Kakeru is at fault too for only looking at the girls only from their looks. that always happen if guy judged girls only from their looks. and tbh, i'm a little bit mad that Kakeru just walked away happly like that in the end without thinking what Ueda feels. Ueda is at fault too but Kakeru is the same, "atleast put an end with their relationship in a good way" is what i hope to see in the next episode.

Overall episode, it was a good episode imo. not a big fan of classic romance tbh, but i'm curious about the story because it has "time-travel" or somethin like that trope in the story :D

Naho is one of the most aggravating and infuriating characters I have ever witnessed. She's such a doormat of a character, and I don't see why she bothers to read the letter when she's almost always ignoring the advice of her future self anyway. That being said, it's not exactly easy to talk to Kakeru when Ueda is so damn clingy and insecure and constantly talking to Kakeru while constantly looking down on Naho.

Either way, Naho is annoying me so much at this point that it's actively sabotaging the good things that the series is doing, at least in my eyes.

Took the words right out of my mouth bro ! She really pisses me off the way she acts in this anime.

So far this anime is very very meh. From all the talk I've been hearing about this, and seeing it ranked high for it's manga, I was expecting some great drama with a hint of romance, but instead it's just geting melodramtic, and the characters piss me off so much. Only one I kinda like is Hagita, but he barely gets any screen time

Using the 'hot popular chick' to create conflict and drama has to be one of the worst recurring things in shoujo manga, it's really awful, or at least will be, since I read the manga.

Naho truly and genuinely not getting that Kakeru is interested in her is going beyond the bounds of 'she's a flawed character', it's just breaking suspension of disbelief.

The directing is great however, the anime gives a lot more atmosphere to the series whereas manga lacked the serenity of it.

Her future self told her what she musn't do but she do it anyway!! If it wasn't for Suwa that talked to her, maybe she would make the same mistake again. She is so stupid...
Plus, Suwa is the best character ever. He is so kind....Naho doesn't deserve his love.

I remember being just as annoyed with Naho when I read the manga, but honestly that boiling annoyance at Naho is what led to the emotional impact the end of the episode gave me, when Naho finally chased after Kakeru and shouted across the street. Not all protagonists are supposed to be incredibly likable, and Naho certainly has her flaws.

Maybe for those who aren't as introverted and over-considerate as her, she just isn't an understandable character. But for me, I see myself in her. She thought to herself before that her future-self has it easy, that it's simple to say what she should've done then when being in the present. Honestly I wanted to yell at her too since she just keeps making excuses, but I know that if I were in her shoes, I wouldn't have been able to act either. When you're the type to get nervous easily and don't want conflict, you can only think of the present and how to avoid feeling that way at all cost. It's really, really hard to change yourself and do things that you wouldn't do. There are many things I regret not doing and will think about it for a long time, for the rest of the day, being the last thing I think about before I fall asleep, but when a similar situation comes, I still can't bring myself to do what I wanted to do. It's too easy to connect with Naho, which is why I'm frustrated at her, since everything she doesn't do reminds me of things I regretted.

But anyways, maybe people would like this series better if someone who isn't at the high end of the introverted spectrum was the main character. I understand the complaints, a character like her alienates a lot of the audience who are extroverted or not as timid as she is. Not saying that extroverts won't be able to relate to her, since the main theme is regret, and that's something I think everyone can relate to. I'd say just keep watching, it's been 4 episodes, and people don't change that fast. She's already changing though, ever so slowly, with the help of her friends :) Suwa is the ultimate bro.

Ah, someone finally understands. With the obento problem, I knew that if I was her, I'd be the same, and who knows, maybe not even have brought myself to make him one. He did say, "I'm joking," after all. I can relate to her on so many levels, so it's nice to see someone voice my thoughts.

I really don't understand when use shyness to justify Naho. A friend is going to die. That's the point. She should worry about how to speak to him about these subjects, but instead she is doing a lot of drama for silly things. I wonder what will come next: there is a math exam, but Kakeru forgot his pen at home, and Naho will spend the entire episode wondering if she'll lend hers to him or not. First World problems.

"Ermahgerd. I'm changing the future after reading a letter from the future?"

Jfc Naho. Also, tfw the character makes it fairly obvious who the love interest is but the love interest is a fucking blockhead, lmfao.

Quick Edit: Suwa is also MVP of the season. Gets the girl in the future but will be losing her on this route. Her happiness before his. feelsbadman. Also, does anyone else think he got a letter too? It seems like he's also changing things regarding Kakeru. Or maybe even the others? I mean, Naho got one and in the future clips, the whole group is together. I wouldn't be surprised if they all got one, if not just Naho and Suwa (I doubt the other 3 cause they haven't really done shit yet, granted it's only ep 4).

OOhhhh starting off with the older versions, how interesting. That ice cream machine was really freaking complex, it looked pretty cool. Much calmer episode this time around though, so I had more time to appreciate the music in this anime, it's really nice. I started feeling that the senpai was a bit too possessive, and after that little fight they had, I was convinced that was the case. A very good episode once again.

Hey everyone, I just finished watching the first episode. I reckon the whole plot of the story is interesting but personally I'm not a fan of slice of life and romance series but I do like series with supernatural elements especially ones with mystery and a bit of violence as well - kind of like the series Erased to give an example. Does this series in future episodes (without giving any spoilers away) get 'darker' like Erased but just not as much with a bit of violence or murder?? If someone could answer I'd appreciate it thanks :)

I liked how they gave attention to the NPCs, gives the anime a realistic vibe.

Ueda, that pushy bitch. She's the plain looking one. I'm glad Kakeru broke up with her.

The happy ending aside(It's obviously her lelz), I feel kinda bad for Suwa coz he basically killed his chances of being with Naho.

Everyone has mentioned everything there was to mention so let me just ask: what the heck was up with that ice cream machine scene???? So many seconds of some sort of disturbingly well animated ice cream robot out of literally nowhere. Am I too inexperienced to understand this level of anime directing? Was that some kind of metaphor? Is the studio trying to show off their abilities? I was literally laughing in disbelief the whole time.

I like how this episode rebutted the sad message sent by the previous one. Turns out Naho's efforts are making a difference after all, just in subtle ways that aren't immediately clear. And in an ironic twist, it is the Kakeru's theoretical love rival who helps repair his relationship with Naho, thus dooming his own chances. That was touching.
