THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Looks like more background storytelling about the Ten Tails and Kaguya this episode along with her sons. Definitely important though considering their influences.

The episode felt more narrative than some of the others and for what's worth, we get to see some of the most powerful techniques and clans of the generations; obviously one of them being the Uchihas. Black Zetsu is one clever bastard for planning everything.

Soo.. If I understood correct there are even stronger beings than Kaguya , right ?

Damn Zetsu , Planning everything for 1000 years.. And in the end he still shall lose this war xd

I hope by saying 'I created Akatsuki' he meant Nagato's one.. Cmon could he have manipulated Yahiko as well ? There would be no point in my opynon.

Preview seems to have a decent art , I hope it is true :l

Well there you go, the whole origin and how it all started. Pretty awesome OST.

Filler ends finally, next week the fight in present continues.

Finally a filler that wasn't completely terrible. It's pretty good that this was included because we didn't get any of this kind of detailed Kaguya backstory in the manga. Now the fight will continue in the next episode, and hopefully Pierrot spares us and stops with the filler (not expecting that though).

So basically the whole story is a Gurren Lagann without the science fiction part wrapped into a decade and a half realisation time with the final part of it on it's way here? Astonishing.

So the fillers are possibly over now, and this is possibly the final filler episode of Naruto we'll ever see. I think the final 5 minutes might've been canon, though. I wonder if Pierrot will show the
or if they'll censor it out like they did with Konohamaru's Sasuke and Sai yaoi jutsu. (Though upon further research, the Sasuke and Sai jutsu might've been ommitted because in the anime, Naruto and Sakura hadn't met Sai yet, unlike the manga.)

Anyway, come on Pierrot, let's wrap it up in the next few weeks. All that are left are Chapters 682-700.

Edit: Episode 465 looks to be filler, so nvm what I said.

Actually there are two separate feelings overcoming myself when I watch naruto nowadays. Originally naruto wasn't meant to be like dragonball where each side - evil and good is doing power ups almost 100% of the time. Certainly that's also a part of it and naruto wouldn't be complete without those moments where you get all excited and think you yourself can conquer the entire world now because you've seen how great a character itachi is for example with his tremendous talent/power whatever. However in the past when there wasn't the war and the whole madara setup, there was always some kind of message in each battle and it was generally more authentic. Take for example guy or lee - they'll teach you how talent isn't everything but much rather your will power etc.

With that being said in this episode it is explained how kaguya had planned everything from the start and how she's the ultimate I'd say god of the shinobi world. But the thing is - it doesn't have the same impact when you throw in a character to whom you don't have any attachment whatsoever and make him the absolute mega mastermind perpetrator who's behind all and everything. That gives me the feeling as if the creator of this story said ' okay guys I'm gonna wrap up the whole story somehow by explaining everything with something that could be acknowledged logically.

Too much talk - the episode was quite entertaining if it wasn't for this what I've been trying to express with my low english skills xD

What a great history lesson by Black Zetzu!

Hagoromo and Hamura fought vs. Kaguya for several months. Hagoromo finished the fight with Catastrophic Planetary Devastation! But Kaguya could create Black Zetzu, his mission: Kaguya's revival!

Two things are required for the revival: the Devine Tree and the Infinite Tsukuyomi by means of Rinnegan. But the Rinnegan requires Hagoromo's chakra. And here are the main problems for Black Zetzu: Hagoromo's chakra was passed to his sons Indra and Ashura. And the Devine Tree was devided into 9 Tailed Beasts.

Black Zetzu's plan: He took advantage of Hagoromo's son Indra and his descendants, the Uchiha clan. He revised Hagoromo's stone tablet so that the Uchiha clan seek the Infinite Tsukyomi. Black Zetzu set up a pattern of fighting and power seeking with Indra aka the Uchiha clan and Ashura aka the Senju clan.

After 1000 years of failure, Madara Uchiha and Hashirama Senju were born. Madara could achieve the first step for Kaguya's revival. However, Madara lost to Hashirama. But Madara managed to get Senju DNA, performed Inazagi to restore himself, awakened the Rinnegan and summoned the Gedo Statue.

Now began the second step of Black Zetzu's plan: collecting the Tailed Beasts. Manipulating Madara and Obito, Black Zetzu created Akatsuki to collect the Tailed Beasts. He increased Akatsuki's battle strength and led them to war. Finally, the Infinte Tsukuyomi was launched during the war. Kaguya was revived.

So the tale of shinobi is the tale of restoring Kaguya.

Good episode. Though I was pretty sad they decided to narrate the battle instead of animate. A few scenes of Hagoromo and Hamura taking on Kaguya and Ten Tails would have been epic.

Second half was canon I believe? Or maybe I'm mistaken. I remember Zetsu giving a long explanation about the history of Shinobi and his plan.

We're going back to canon next week, Hope it lasts till the end .

Too bad that we didn't see the fight.
It was kinda weird to see Hagoromo know everything about the Sharingan and the Rinnegan considering that he only had the Sharingan from the previous episode, they accelerated the story a lot, they even changed Madara's defeat against Hashirama.

It kinda felt rushed since that is the only way for Hagoromo to awaken the Rinnegan, is to suckerpunch Hamura and kill him. >.< Oh well, now we can go back to Naruto and Sasuke again.

They did that ?! those monster !!
They can't take out such a key technique to their victory, nope.

So wait, wasn't she sealed in the moon with one of her sons? Nevermind, This whole revival is messy. dumb uchiha.

Looks like now we finally get some Sasuke x Naruto on Kaguya action !!

It's a good decision from a narrative point of view. We have a whole fight coming up and they'd want to showcase Kaguya during that.

And the second half is canon. Madara's Izanagi etc. It's canon.

Take it for what it is ,but yeah you are probably right. Although its not something that is completely nonsensical, if you look carefully, there is little subtle foreshadowing here and there, that indicates Black zetsu being the true overseer and observer behind this tale. Such as when he was overseeing naruto and Sasuke battle in the valley of the end at the end of part 1. Where he said "things are finally starting to get interesting". In fact during this moment, obito and madara had nothing to do with this scene. So maybe the author new all along that black zetsu would be the true instigator behind this story.

Liked the episode but mostly the second half.
Also Hagoromo is as ugly as fuck. The episode could have been better animated and i feel they could have fleshed out Kaguya's backstory to deliver a much needed impact.
Anyways its good we are on the final lap to the finish line.
Hopefully better animations...

Goddammit being a naruto fan is hard work. This filler is so broken in terms of continuity with the source material it feels like those apes at Pierrot didn't even read the manga. Also, completely skipping the battle between kaguya, hamura and hagoromo fuck you Pierrot. An entire flash back arc leading up to one of the most hyped fights in the series and they just narrate through months of battling. But I don't know what I expected really. This shitty fan fiction aside it looks like next week is canon and even better they pulled their heads out of their asses and the quality looks decent.

Hello There Peeps,
Well I guess Naruto is getting interesting now, isn't it?
They stopped all the fillers and from this episode onwards Naruto is getting on like the past, where they fight Madara and stuff like that?
There are many bloggers saying that the anime is getting bored and stuff like that?
Check one of them here;

It boggles my mind how Studio Pierrot has no issues dragging out all these terrible filler arcs but when it comes to something that actually matters like a Kaguya backstory, something the manga lacked, they just rush right through it. Hell at the end of the day we got more of Hagoromo than we did Kaguya. It's just really disappointing.

Pretty good episode. Would have rathered then to take their time with this filler and show us the fight with kaguya and her sons with the 10 tails with a lot more detail. Awesome to see all the pieces being put together though! And seeing hagoromo awaken the rinnegan but I also think it's stupid how hamura just decided to go to his mum and that's how he dies? But again also good seeing this stuff and having it involved with momoshiki and kenshiki but who was the 3rd shadow next to them?? Doesn't look like someone who we have seen yet so may appear in the boruto manga maybe idk haha

I have to wonder how long this Kaguya Resurrection plot has been hatching. After revisiting the first series, one striking thing I noticed was how Black Zetsu was observing Sasuke and Naruto's battle in the Valley of the End. At the time it merely seemed like Akatsuki tracking the Nine Tails. It makes more sense now to think that he was monitoring the next reincarnations of Indra and Ashura. After their battle, Kakashi even says something along the lines of how the Valley of the End makes me think of an eternal, never ending battle. Very ominous.

there's no scheming man better than him.

from this episode, I can confirm that:
Kaguya isn't a divine being, she's just a creature from another galaxy/spaces following the tree that is also come from Kaguya's origin. it has been implied that Kaguya looking to the sky telling the brothers that someday "they" would come to pick her up.
