So another fight were he gets really beat up and wins with a cross counter at the end. This is getting repetitive, sure it was a bit different this time since he used it to counter Wolf's anti-cross counter but it was basically the same thing.

This episode was beautifully done and should make a great transition from Joe learning how to box, and Joe becoming a true, professional boxer. He should no longer be a one-trick pony. I can't wait to watch his career take off.

The logic behind the damage being 12 times as large isn't quite right. No matter how you put it, it's still just a cross counter, whether he countered the counter or not...

This really bothered me too, lol. It was just a cross counter with his left arm instead of his usual right. That's it.

Yeah, that's a little ridiculous. I also agree with the OP when he said the show is a bit repetitive at this point. Joe basically just trashes everybody with the cross counter.

I'm enjoying the show though. Riikishi was cool this episode. I like how Joe and Riikishi have developed respect for each other. Their rivalry is kind of like a friendly competition at this point.

Epic fight, just fucking epic... Good for Joe to win against that son of a bitch Wolf. Really looking forward for Joe vs Rikiishi :)

As OP said the cross counter is getting quite repetitive but other than that it was a really good episode.

As for some of you who say the cross-counter gets repetitive, do you notice how he wait to do his TRIPLE after falling 5 times?? It's like in his training he had no idea what Wolf would use to best his cross, so all he and Tange would do is beat each other out, train his body so he wouldn't lose after just one or two fall.

Look at how Tange didn't say a word cuz he knew he had done everything he could, and what's left is for JOE to improvise in the match. He fell 5 times to come up with a strategy, to get the timing right. Haha that's great, only that's not stated or exlained by any character.

It's like the ultimate move of Kageyama and Hinata, the matter is not what ultimate move you use, but how, when to use it, how to variate it. I think it's great.

It's a boxing anime, exaggeration and tropes come with the genre but there is a limit to that imo. Hajime no Ippo as pointed out is an example of exaggeration. The Dempsey roll for one specific example, while actually employed by Dempsey, the movement in the anime is greatly exaggerated as is the all around nature of the 'move' if one wanted to call it such.

The issue here is the 'no guard cross counter' isn't exaggeration, as it's not grounded in reality at all. To call is flawed strategically would be a vast understatement. The show does a good job of showing one of the drawbacks/counters to the cross though, so that was good to see. But rather than expanding Joe's repertoire of actual punch's, he develops the 'triple cross counter' which legitimately made me laugh, because it is actually that ridiculous.

From a boxing standpoint the anime fails pretty hard (so far), but at least the other aspects are interesting and stand on their own. It's a shame though as I love boxing, but the disbelief is just too high for me to enjoy.

Like expected Wolf used his left to outangle Joes right.

But damn, Joe developed through this match again and used Wolfs technique against him. If that's realistic or not doesn't concern me that much tbh.

Holy shit, that was amazing.

Joe refused to give up and totally destroyed Wolf there with the triple cross counter, Wolf fell flat and started bleeding like crazy, RIP teeth.

Seeing everyone so moved was awesome, even Rikiishi went there, I can't wait for the fight between the two.

This is so hype. Holy crap. What works here is, somehow, Wolf was made to be even worse in personality than Joe, despite Joe starting the whole fight in the first place with the signature thing. This show went from street brawling, to showing off techniques, to strategy in the ring. I'm really impressed. That, I think the most satisfying moments of the episode were Riikishi's support talk in the middle and the handshake at the end.

This episode really developed Joe and Rikishi's relationship as comrades.

From the in-ring motivation, to the handshake, Epic!

This episode was too emotional to me, seeing the strange beautiful rivalry of Joe and Riikishi shake hands at the final of the episode, i don't know, i just cried, just... to see this characters like this, i don't know how to express, and seeing a major part of the cast of characters so proud of Joe, best episode by so far. The great triple cross counter.

Wow, Joe won in a literal catatonic state, reaper was standing behind him the entire time. It was very sweet and impactful to see how deeply Rikiishi cares about his rivalry with Joe.

This episode was just GREAT.

Twelve times the force from a normal punch!! No wonder the triple cross counter rendered Wolf motionless like that, that is one powerful punch.

Even though Joe won the fight, he still took some major damage from the battle. Who's next though, because I doubt his bout with Rikiishi would be that sooner!

Even though the logic behind the matches is flawed, this was still extremely epic and I'm delighted by how it turned out. I want to believe that the strategy of a triple cross counter is real in a sense, and I also want to believe indestructible yet suicidal people like Joe exist, lol.

Great fight! Somehow Joe manages to take those anti-counters to his face! I do hope that Joe starts to learn some new techniques though so that he stops being a one trick pony. Lol even Rikiishi supports Joe

No no you don't understand, this is how One Punch Man came to be, he learned this technique that can multiply by infinite amounts.

Great story telling though, we find out why everyone was so bruised, they had to find a way to beat the counter to a counter hit.
And then Joe still had to fall and take hits several times only to find the perfect way to counter his counter.

Boy am I glad I'm watching a release without fucked up audio, because the sound design was phenomenal, and really sold everything for me.

The entire ep was great, but I really liked those Rikiishi moments.

What the hell was that old man commentator yapping about? That was just a cross-counter from his left, literally the same thing as his normal cross-counter but with the other hand??? What do you mean it has 12 times the power????? Fire him, he's clearly senile.
I have read 2 perfect chapters of manga; They are Usogui Chapter 203 and Onani Master Kurosawa Chapter 23.
Slam Dunk Chapters 272 to 276 are a perfect stretch of manga.

so u are telling me he learnt to counter the new problem all of a sudden, the same thing which took wolf a month to master
well they didnt really treat wolf and his coach as boxing opp anw.. it was unbearable to watch their reactions

we went from "i am starting to respect the depth of techniques and will power in boxing" vs that slim guy in the jail to this bullshit, what a downfall

this anime is just Joe's bickriding at this point.. sad that it had a very promising start, which was maintained up until debut :/ i ll pause this anime for now.. might as well drop it
