Well, 2 years ago, i finished SKET DANCE anime and then waiting for the season 2. but even after 1 years manga ended, i dont hear any news about it, then i chose to read the manga instead. sket dance anime still have many things unresolved. have you ever feel the same? Do you read original source if an anime you watch don't have a hope for continuation? and why?

I watched Shaman King and read the manga afterwards to see how it ended.

Not really unless it really moved me or I have the time.

Yes, I sometimes read even if they gets a continuation announced. Unless the source material is a light novel.

Only if it's Manga. I don't do well with VNs or the like.

Usagi Drop. There's my answer.

If you know how the manga ends, then you know what I'm talking about.

I agree, I thought my ship was going to sink, but I'm glad it won.

It's the other way around for me. If I find a Manga enjoyable I might wait for an adaptation by sovereign studios Toei or Sunrise. If it's not toei or sunrise I might watch it if it's sports or I really want to reinforce my thoughts on the series, but probably not.

I read original source material only if I enjoyed what the anime gave me. Or if the anime handled the source material poorly, but I loved the characters enough to read the original material (Akame ga Kill!!).

I do read the source material. If I'm still not satisfied, I'll just give it time to settle down and move on. Watching similar anime helps.

I'm actually baffled how I'm the odd one out on this.

It depends, how much of a chance do I really believe it has of getting another anime adaptation and how much I liked it. I don't really have any interest in figuring out how one of my 5s or below went.

Yes, I have even read the source material even when there was no need to sometimes. Sometimes I start with the source material then watch the adaptation, this is how I watched the Fullmetal Alchemist series.

If I'm interested in continuing, then it depends on how long it's been since the anime ended, whether the source is still ongoing (if applicable), and so on. I generally like to wait at least a year to see if the anime will get a continuation announcement, but it's not like I've been in a lot of scenarios where I really want to read the source.

Almost always. I honestly watch anime to find a story that interests me to continue in manga/LN. Watching the anime first helps me get more of a feel for the characters before going into it (giving them a voice and sometimes even a face in the case of light novels).
There are exceptions, I usually don't read the manga for longer running shows like One Piece, or for anime that I feel did well enough to not warrant reading more, such as 12 Kingdoms.

Also, the ending to Usagi Drop manga was ridiculous

Most of the time, if it's actually available though.
Medaka box is probably one of them. Really hoping for S3 and wanted to see Kumagawa animated in the series!

I tend to avoid incomplete anime adaptations from a manga source. I'll just read from beginning.
All credit goes to Sacred.

Sometimes. I did it with Rurouni Kenshin, and I'm currently doing it with Claymore. I was thinking about doing it with GTO, but the scanlations are horrible, so I didn't bother.

I usually read the source first nowadays if it interests me.
This allow me to get all the explanation needed right from the start.
And then, if I think it's interesting, I may watch the anime adaptation. Without being lost by all the explanations thy cut. And being able to drop the adaptation at any times while still knowing what happens afterwards if the animation is bad. And without being spoiled by the anime and therefore not losing any enjoyment while reading the source material.

I think it works better that way. Before, I wasn't so proactive to search before watching if a show has a source material, so it happened quite often to me to watch the adaptation fist. And yes, I read quite a good amount of source material afterwards. Some of them, I still have to read them.

first time posting here, but yeah especially if I really liked the anime.
The only time I regretted this was with Inu X Boku SS where I thought the anime was much better compared to the further events that happen in the manga.

If the anime is an 8+ then yeah, probably. Although, only if the source material is finished and fully translated, or publishing on a steady basis with a good group working on it that won't drop it.
Your honor, I never wrote this post.

I read the original source first most of the time - they're almost always superior to the adaptation.

After finishing the last episode of Spice And Wolf and realizing there wasn't gonna be a season 3 anytime soon, I instantly bought all available LN volumes in English. That was 2 years ago and I still haven't started the third volume.

I was also gonna do the same with Kokoro Connect, but well, idk how much can I rely on bakatsuki.

Varies for me, I don't read LNs in general but I continue to the manga when an anime I enjoyed ends. Though with longer (ongoing) anime/manga series I tend to read and watch at the same time.

It really depends on how much I enjoyed the anime , or how much they butchered the source material , but I have gone back to many Visual Novel adaptions and found them vastly superior.
