there's nothing they can do to the village because Minori's party arrived too late. Tohya was clearly angry and Minori tried to think and minimize the further destruction. They didn't shrug it off, and it become one of their main reason to protect more people... as adventurers.

Considering that Marielle was indecisive about their next move (shackled by her responsibility to the Round Table Council and her wish to keep the beginner safe), Minori's plan can be seen as a reckless move.

Remember the summer camp initial plans to Choushi : spread the news about the invasion and evacuate the resident, not protect the town itself.
Minori didn't want to see another destruction (and homeless residents, if they success with the evacuation) and choose to fight despite her low level and lack of resources. Because of this, I can't see that the newbs shrugs off what they seen.

I don't think they ignored it at all considering how much effort they made in showing us how upset Rudy was about it and how much he wanted to help like they were his own people.

Those kids or naive because what adventure does quest for no reward. If you were in a mmo where dieing teleported you away from everyone. Would you do quest just for the fun of it no you wouldn't.

Emm.. this is no longer an MMO. Those people are real and they are dying.

I hate those kids.. They can't even free themselves from the guild if Shiro and co. didn't save them and they want to fight thousands of goblins and risk the relationship between adventurers and people of the land? Wtf.

First they fought and became stronger, second they probably to do guerilla warfare not take the goblins head on and third how the fuck is helping the people of the land make the relationship worse? It can only benefit the relationship of adventurers and people of the land if they help them even with no one asking them to.

Guess this anime won't be ever getting a different OP and ED.

Oooh, look's like major action coming soon. Funny how you forget to do something and it comes back 10,000 times worse. Haha.

I'm surprised Crusty has already experienced the memory loss issue that's been brought to light. I thought level 90's were almost invincible in this game.

Minori is being a lot more assertive, good.

To be honest, I hated how the story played out in this episode (or light novel)... Those speeches with "we have no reason to not protect them" or "we must save them all!" are just plain stupid to me. Honestly speaking, right now, the biggest problem is the relationship between the people of the land and the adventurers, not the event Goblin King. Thinking about this logically, if the adventurers started to act on their own and saving that town Chouhi, the nobles would probably start to think that the Adventurers are like a free fighting source and they, the people of land don't really need to do anything anymore. Also, don't those children know how selfish their actions are? If they started to decide their actions upon emotion rather than the big picture, the whole plan would be ruined. Unlike the ideal relationship where the adventurers are equal to the people of land, now it would just be a free fighting force like I said before. Of course, the author didn't really see this and just did that. but logically thinking about this incident, its such a dumb and selfish decision that those children made.

I am disappointed.

No, the author did see it, Shiroe dicuss that them being too readily to fight for the noble will damage relationships between the Adventurer and PoL, as well as their reputations as the round table for that exact reason. They did not show the actual discussion within the episodes, but there were hints of it.

That's an interresting impact. Since they weren't doing quest, they were evolving by themself and now have gotten out of control.

I wonder how they'll deal with the bigger army. Will the castle be onslaught? It would be nice if it was infiltred by some goblin.

Blah No concern for actual battle because they're LV 90's anyway.

More time for talk talk about things then doing them.

Playing a game as an "adventurer" or chess/running for president?

I get good strategy can help win the battles already. Seems to be more just trying to run everything than playing the game itself. -_-...

At least they seem to be on their way to doing something...again.

Lol, why are you summarizing the episode? The bigger picture was mentioned in this episode, how can you say that the author did not think of that. -.- He has everything planned out and in control of his story direction, at least that's the impression I got.

But seriously, take the initiative to attack the goblin? Lol. About 10 adventurers vs ten+ thousands goblins.. lol. Let's see what plan you have in mind, Minori.

Goblin King's Return? I'd sign up for that event!
If only the Knights of Izumo would appear, everything would be okay.

Lenessia's having father problems, while Shiroe told the rest about the memory loss death.
Tohya's hyped with emotion while Minori is becoming a Shiroe.
That's right, take the fight to the goblins!

My thoughts about the death consequence of this world (if you read through all of this I applaud you, I kind of got caught up in a wordy frenzy for this one): If the adventurers of this world are trapped here for the foreseeable future, it is likely that all memories of the old world will be eventually lost, and I suspect that is what Shiroe is concerned about. In this scenario, couldn't one designate a group of people that are forbidden from fighting and risking their lives so to preserve the memories of the old world? However, Shiroe and everyone else are probably more worried about losing the memories of their own lives in the old world. Family, friends, childhood memories, ect. When the PoL die, they die permanently, thus from the perspective that is sympathetic to the PoL, the PoL are the ones who drew the short straws and they perhaps should be protected.

That said, this is all only hypothetical ethics; it assumes sympathy. In reality, without any political gains, it is questionable whether the adventurers should be protecting the PoL, since they might be seen as free protection and taken advantage of, a point that I think is alluded to by the more experienced adventurers when they hesitate to help protect Coushi. Perhaps there are ways to protect the PoL without directly intervening like Minori is suggesting. To create a state where the adventurers could help the PoL and maintain a healthy relationship, the situation would need to be mutually beneficial; both adventurers and PoL would have to benefit from the adventurers protecting the PoL. It is yet to be seen if this kind of reality is viable or even necessary. After all, many adventurers don't see the PoL as real people yet and it would be hard to justify the adventurers losing their memories for what seems to be non-people. The other side of this coin is that the PoL are still much more numerous than the adventurers and perhaps hold much power through their knowledge of the land. Perhaps this knowledge of the land is a potential reason to help the PoL. After all, I think that Shiroe is definitely motivated to gain more knowledge of this world from the PoL and it really comes down to how this can best be accomplished.

Going back to the topic of death in this new world. I may be speaking way too early, since there are still many things we don't know and we're not even done the first season, but theoretically, the way that adventurers are brought back to life is akin to immortality. That is assuming they don't ever find a way back to the old world and they can't die of old age. It is yet to be seen if adventurers' bodies age in the new world, and there's even the possibility that they're physically present in the old world and that their brains will eventually grow old and die even if their virtual bodies don't show it. However, if there is no aging process for adventurers, then immortality right? Loss of memories from their accumulated deaths over their eternal lifetimes might be the price they pay for immortality. I'll go a step further: immortality isn't necessarily a good thing, as some might say it'll lead to a loss of purpose as you experience everything life has to offer. If this is one of the standing problems with immortality, then it might be offset by the loss of memories that adventurers undergo. At any point in their eternal existence they might feel that there are things they haven't experienced, because they've forgotten experiences from earlier. However, a shortage of things to experience isn't the only issue with immortality, as one also has to consider the emotional effects of seeing everyone you know die of old age (not a problem since all adventurers are immortal? Though if the PoL integrate into adventurer culture, since they can die of old age they would leave the adventurers with scars). Finally, immortality carries one more issue: no more fear of death. Without fear of death, one might get bored of life, or perhaps feel life has lost meaning. Our brains have been evolving to fear death ever since sexual reproduction became a thing. What would happen without the consequence of death? Well, for starters, we feel fear on roller coasters, so perhaps the adventurers fear death in a fight even when they know they're going to respawn after. On a less primal level, if one knows that you're never going to die, wouldn't that affect the way you live and think about life? The immortal adventurer literally has all the time in the world as long as the cathedral remains functional. Perhaps too much time on your hands is a bad thing and this is the main issue I can see with immortality in the world of Log Horizon.

Man, I think too much. It's just an anime XP

Surprised to see so many complaints about the episode. I really enjoyed it and don't mind the focus on the newbies at all. They're shaping up nicely and I appreciated where they came down in the debate on risking themselves for NPCs. If the NPCs aren't truly alive they are certainly very lifelike. Any interaction with them will create sympathy, not to mention they are an important part of the game world.

Also I don't believe Minori planned on attacking the main goblin host of 10,000, the one going after the village is just a smaller raiding party. I'm curious to see what exactly her plan is. Tohya burying the doll was a nice, brief little detail.

I have to say I love that this impending disaster is the result of a neglected event. That's kind of brilliant.

ofc he has died in the past cause he wasn't always lvl 90 & not always as skilled also training newbies may result with death if ur only one who know how to deal with the current boss so newbies do more mistakes then Vet players, Vet mistakes can just result with loosing bit 2much HP rarely death, but newbies make more deadly mistakes, well that's in real life mmorpg, so ofc they don't make any1 immortal it would be dumb to make chars like that who have never once died if its MMO paste anime

Shouryuu's group battled the sahaugins in the beach and Naotsugu's group battled the goblins in the forest. Nyanta saw and informed about the goblin troop (Duke Serjiad got informed too), Naotsugu decided to communicate with Maryelle. Shiroe informed the situation to the round table and explained that could be related to a game's event called "The Return of the Goblin King" where they must defeat the goblins before they crown someone, it's assumed that if the adventurers fail, goblins would have a huge army, but Izumo Knight are supossed to appear. Rayneshia's father informed her that he's gonna protect the city and asked her to support her grandfather. Seeing goblin's path, Nyanta realized that goblins are gonna attack Choushi Town, so Minori's group decided to go to Choushi Town (they found debris). Shiroe revealed to Krusty and company about the memory loss caused by reincarnation in the game.

Well, a big problem is about to start again, it looks like the beginning of a new arc. I don't know why Rayneshia's scene was important but well, maybe is important to know that NPCs are going to war with demi-humans. So the new mission is to stop the goblins and win the event.

And finally... The REAL death penalty is finally revealed to the members of the round table. I didn't actually expect someone like Crusty to die, but since he did and he confirmed that he did lose his memory from irl, it makes things more convenient and believable for Shiroe.

I like that Minori. She was very determinated and had a strong spirit. Nice girl! While Rudy and Isuzu still hide about whats goin on at the previous night. Its fine, kids, fine! Meanwhile, Marie looked very guilty by miscalculating the worst possibility of that event as it would happen under her surveillance. She was not even telling the right person beforehand with such a hints previously, caused her a little frustration. Though, she was the guild master and one of the representative of the Round Table, at the end, she was back to her normal. Lol.

At the other sides, finally Shiroe told the truth of his new knowledge about the risk of death to the others, and warned them all to be careful. While Krusty confirmed that it might be true, cause he felt a loss due to his double death before. However, he still claimed to be fine. As an adventurers, there were always no gain no pain, no job without a risks. Thats why he never care about a certain loss of memories, so they wanted all to be calm. Okay, you better not so big mouth, Krusty.

The situations continued. Shiroe, waiting for the nobles to gave their point of view, as to how they would react to that kind of eventful situations, based on their mistakes too. Still, he already launched a prevented action, one of the example was to call his former Tea Party friend to joined the forces at the palace without the Lander Nobles invitation and their knowledge, if something bad happened.

So, what will the real thing happened next? Everything just sounds pretty intriguing me.

I liked the short segment with Shiroe relaying the information about how death works to the people surrounding him and Krusty confirming that by talking a bit about his own experiences and what he seemed to have lost for example. Rest of the episode was pretty forgettable except the fact that the Goblin Army is coming soon and in some pretty big numbers as well.

So there's a massive goblin army now just because the goblin king wasn't defeated before the corronation? Well that seems like quite the mess to clean up.

Krusty already lost some of his memories from dying, specifically ones from the real world. Pretty interesting information, but also very sad. Knowing that does make me wonder if the people of the land are adventurers who have died so many times that the memories of the world they came from disappeared.

Minori's party coming up with the idea of attacking the army before it reaches the town is genius, but there are too few of them and at such low level for it to work.
