| i see a lot of people who say stop incest anime, or stop rape anime, stop this stop that i dont understand. every anume you watch if its mature has violence or some sort of "immoral" aspect. why is one worse than another. if anything i think it offers variety and allows people to explore certain fantasies and ideas that they cant in real life. i must admit i thought it was very odd when i saw on a forum that there was an anime where an older brother and younger sister fell in love. so i decided to watch it to see what it was about. it was odd. but i enjoyed it. because it reminded me that if people didnt think outside the box every anime would be predictable and be the same. how do you feel about these "unusual" animes? |

| Because incest is almost always just done for pandering and fanservice, and those are usually attributed to bad shows. And iv never seen rape handled well in a single story period. I think it could be used well but its ALWAYS used as a shitty cop out to make a character seem mentally fucked up/ scarred instead of giving a more impacting and well thought out reason, plus it feels like edgy BS trying too hard to say "look we are so dark and edgy arent we good". The reaosn murder and arguably way worse crimes dont phase people is that they tend to be used for impacting and scenes that progress plots and characters while rape is like i said, a cop out. Its just something writers use when they cant think of anything else. |

| I would attribute a lot of this to the idea that we still live in a sexually puritanical society that isn't aware of its own cognitive dissonance. Sexual content is viewed as more dangerous than violence and murder, even though in practice the former can far more often be a positive experience than the latter. I would hypothesize that it's mostly a cultural construct that holds no real objective basis for all the outrage. Often times when you have a culture clash like this, rather than objectively considering the consequences of the behavior one is objecting to, the viewer will simply default to what their culture has instilled in them to think about it while coming up with ad hoc justifications for themselves after the fact. |

Rather than being used to set up a lazy sob story for the character involved or to look "2edge grimdark", it helps serve as a means to explore the psyche of a damaged person and how she perceives the world. |

| At the end of the day it comes down to personal preference, you can't ban a type of anime unless you have extreme influence over the type of media and even still people would create whatever is banned. So, just avoid those anime if you don't like them and watch whatever you enjoy to watch. Personally I don't like rape or incest anime. |
