| Another great episode :D Really nice of Tsutomu to know he that teams need a "support" character ... I'm so glad that he's able to take that role :3 Especially with that Chihaya said in acknowledging someone who started later is better than you ... Haha Sumire watching the teams ... XD Yes, there are a LOT to the female karuta players ;P So their first game is against "foreigners" ... I was pretty thrown when they started speaking English! THEN TAICHI LOL XD It's sweet that they're karuta lovers ... just goes to show huh? :3 Of course, and easy win for Chihaya and them, but still, it's always nice to see people who are so "innocent" in their karuta love I guess XD ALSO WHOA THE ENDING O_O Arata comes to watch them and A WILD SHINOBU APPEARS!!! I wonder what's going to happen :O |
Megumu is back! Her appearance is as Arata, but she has a poison tongue. However, it looks like she and her pals are having fun. Her appearance from last season is too brief. Can't wait for her story in future competition.  |

| Am I the only one that finds it kind of sad how the other team gets portrayed as "foreigners", despite the fact that they must have been either born in Japan or integrated when they were really young (based on how fluent their Japanese was)? Besides, even after being "exposed" by Taichi, the team still treated them as "different" ... and even wrote that note on the whiteboard IN ENGLISH, despite the characters obviously knowing better Japanese?! Sure, the message itself was cute, but if I was in that situation I would have been very confused! It's like hey guys, we speak the same language, what's up with treating us like we still don't understand you unless you write in a language we barely know? ô_ô It's almost like a slap in the face for looking different and having non-Japanese names. Not that I'm surprised at all, I know this stuff happens all the time. Just couldn't help having these thoughts while watching. |

Fujisaki High School is their no.1 opponent huh? can't wait for Mizusawa to destroy them! and lol i also though Chihaya was making fun of they're english XD looks like they're having trouble at first :P Mizusawa moving as a team!! yeah the foreigners lost(there's only so much for those who only like them and not play them seriously. im glad Mizusawa showed respect and wants to play with them once more!! My Queen is Back!!!!!!!!!!! i wonder who will Arata respond!!!! this is gonna be an intense episode next week!! |

| 5/5 Episode cute little adrenaline. It seems that will not have an easy time with Chihaya Arata, someone has already taken from behind! LOL Hilarious narration, seemed a mixture of seriousness and humor. The plot has instead maintained its serious and thoughtful, teaching us new things. Excellent graphics and characters, for now I have not seen any really charismatic opponent. Komano has proven much more reliable and mature Taichi, who complains only in silence without sinking the shot. Wake up Sleeping Beauty! |

| I find it funny the way they draw foreign people in anime...They look weird (like the blond guy that looked more like some he/she character). And come on, why couldn't foreigners like karuta? Not to mention that Portuguese brought the cards to them long time ago and this is just different type of playing cards. I would like to try this type of game but I don't know Japanese. And that English...it's killing me, every time I hear it :) Last scene....she gave me goosebumps. |

| Seeing fake foreigners who are actually Japan-born was heart-warming. They were portrayed very likeable, too, even the black guy was drawn cute - loved it! He was big but with clearly shown sweet personality. You won't see this happen too often! You people complain that they were portrayed not serious enough but you want too much at once, not realizing how big the improvement actually is - casually mentioning real Japanese society's flaws, such as not accepting Japan-born non-Japanese..! I'm sure Chihaya wrote the message in English with no malicious context though. It's because of the incident with English language between the two teams before! |

| Megumu is a scary person... The match itself was fairly intriguing as well, I'm glad that Mizusawa's challengers weren't discouraged by their defeat. |
| I can't tell if the show was being purposely crude around it's portrayal of first generation chibi team or being legit. Either the show is painstakingly trying to send some bad pr cringe spin on gaijin in japan or they were in fact sarcastically mocking japanese society... Being a cheesy josei, I get the feeling they did it genuinely, or having no faith in the viewer to change their mindset, felt they had no choice but to portray mizusawa as an accurate description of the viewer. Like other comments have mentioned, they still treated the 'foreigners' different even after hearing them speak fluent japanese by writing in english on the board... Like, they legitimately can't wrap their heads around non-japanese people playing kurata, doing japanese things, which I think is weird, in a globalised world where cultures and entertainment are easily exchanged as well as technologies. It would make more sense if xenophobic grandpa came in and tried to take the kurata cards away from them. Multicultural or not, their next door neighbour (92% han) China is totally different. If you integrate into Chinese culture, you are more or less one of them among family and friends, the shock of physical appearance between strangers is quickly gone as well. Don't just take my word, check some online forums of how expats felt being in China, Korea and Japan. If you guys are interested, there are youtube videos where a bunch of guys (they even look similar to the anime) who grew up in japan make videos highlighting this. Despite the fact they order in fluent japanese, the waiter, dumbstruck, repeatedly looked to the asian american who didn't speak a lick of japanese for guidance. |
