THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Age of warring idols~ The way Matsuda ,was seeking out idols in the open felt so random though. "Do you want to me an idol?" lol. I'm not sure which idol is my favorite yet but they all have their reasons to be one. This is an awkward first encounter: http://imgur.com/baFIIRb I think she has a good voice though. The end of that audition cracked me up. "ARE YOU VIRGINS?" I wasn't into their practice routines though, some of it felt lacking. I wish they had better or rather fancy outfits for their performance though but can't be helped with their lack of funds. ENCORE. |

Magito said: Should I watch this before the series? I would say yes since it introduces all the main characters, manager, president, and Mayu as well as what they go through for their very first and according to them 'last' performance. |

Been looking forward to this a lot. Really glad Crunchyroll picked up the movie and the series. The main female's (seiyuu) voices are all amazing to my ears hnnnng. And ofc people are going to comment about the pantsu but I didn't mind it was done like once near the end or about the same face but I also don't mind since I really like the character designs. Episode 1 in less than 15 minutes :) can't wait. |

Nice to see that Mayu could accept her past and join Wake Up, Girls! when they needed her most. Glad they were able to do their debut concert, even if it was a small one. The girls look like they had fun. The performance itself was alright. The song was okay, as well as the dancing. All that pantsu. Overall, it was decent as a movie.. There wasn't nearly enough time for character development with all the girls in the group, but watching them train together, and then perform together was still enjoyable. Of course, the story continues in the TV series, so it wasn't too bad. |

Fantastic animation, as I expected from this studio. It was enjoyable. 7.5/10 |

It was better than I was expecting, based on the PVs that I'd seen previously. It seems to be a bit more grounded in reality focusing on storytelling, probably because it's produced solely for anime and not based on other media/games like Idolm@ster and Love Live. Looking forward to the TV series! |

The random hints at oversexualized idol culture made this almost worth it. Almost. |

I enjoyed the movie, and how persistent Matsuda was to recruit Mayu. I do feel bad that the girls are not even sure if they will get to continue their dream of being an idol. Then we look at Mayu and how she gave up on her dream to later return and start from the bottom while 1-1 Club is at the Tokyo Dome performing while the Wake Up Girls are Mayu are at a park I suppose performing for like 6-9 people. I didn't see the manager saying: "Are you all Virgins". She sure caught me by surprise. |

Cool movie, haven´t watch the series yet but does this links up with it anyway? Well the Christmas Eve show was kinda nice, the song was pretty catchy and the animation for it was pretty solid especially in terms of fluidity! The Idol Era Begins! |

There is a reason why the life of an idol in all its facets is rarely documented in anime. This movie and the anime series will eventually show why it is so. I cringed. This will not touch my anime list. |

Watch the movie first. It's pretty much ep. 1 of the series. The first episode might not make much sense without the movie, I think. I think there's potential here, but two things made me think a little bit: The first is that the "center" of the group and former idol was singing flat when she was in the park. To be fair, I suppose, it's not amazing singing that makes an idol, but from my experiences in musical theatre, that kind of singing wouldn't land a main role. The second would be that panty shot thing in the end. I'm not sure whether this was more of a joke that was poking fun at fanservice, like "Oh, here's some obligatory fanservice!" or if it was simply fanservice. That being said, it's somewhat funny that the man that planned to bring an end to the era of moe is doing a show like this. |

The movie is good. The idol group was named "Wake up, girl" was not a bad name. Magito said: Should I watch this before the series? This movie introduced the characters and how the group "Wake up, girls" started. The events in TV series occurred after the movie. So,watching the movie first can help you understand the TV more clearly. |

This woman is the best portrayal of a boss I have ever seen :O Lol no offense, but idols need to be younger then hostess age :P Just noticed the Gatchaman style hair, that style has gotten popular in anime lately. Goosebumps when she started singing. "Are you virgins?" Dafuq I get the whole 'idols should be pure thing', but still; hell one of them was 18 :P Lawl she stole the name from a love hotel ;D Those songs :P She ditched... Great song, I hope the series is as good or beter yet surpasses this :D |

Good background on how the group was formed and some backstory on each of the girls too. Wow,that bitch left with all the money they had funded >:(.Hopefully she regards her decision when they reach success. Mayu joins the group.Liked the song she sung in the park. Didn't like the performance at first till they started singing in engrish. And could have done without the pantsu service. But otherwise pretty good 7/10. Edit: Forgot. Encore!!!Encore!!!Encore!!! |

That being said, it's somewhat funny that the man that planned to bring an end to the era of moe is doing a show like this. Most idols are terrible live singers. Just look up some of the AKB live singing clips. Also, the panty shot thing at the end is referring to the policy of having idols wear 'shorts' or 'show-panties', ie, panties that look like panties but are not panties, which are acceptable to show compared to normal panties which are not. The girls themselves feel that there's no need for it since this is going to be their last concert anyways, and also since they're not famous, their 'image' is not worth anything in the first place. |

Did anyone else recognize the song that Mayu was singing on the swing when she's first introduced? I'm so sure I know it but I can't quite put my finger on it, can anyone help? Really enjoyed this, wasn't entirely expecting too, although I do have an unexpected soft spot for idol anime... |

Well. That was everything I expected from an idol anime, and while a couple of extra minutes would have been welcome at some points, I am completely hooked to it. Here's hoping the series will prove to be as good or better. 8/10 |

As an idol anime interested. I found the choreography slightly more appealing than on LL or im@s, kudos for that, maybe only because its a movie? hope not. I really like where this is going, so please dont betray me high expectations. |

I find this movie have a bit more realistic setting of idol than other idol animes' I've watch in the past. It was kinda difficult to watch them struggle to reach their dreams with little to no one watching them perform at first. Not mention there's bit of personal conflict between the groups. They were driven more down when that bitchy president suddenly left them with only a note and unpaid expenses. The movie ended nicely. The fat guy who shouted Encore after their performance gave me a smile. With this, I'm ready to watch the tv series. With the anime having a serious tone, I expect we'll see the girls to go through more hardships, struggles, and more crying as they take small steps to become better idols. Especially Mayu, who is gonna be haunted by her past that she left behind. |
