What anime (genre, style or setting, franchise, specific show) can you call really nostalgic for you and why? Are you trying to look for that in new shows or are you embracing completely new experiences as well?

Series like Toradora and Haruhi are series that get me nostalgic. I think a large reason I have such a positive take on them was watching them was I was new to anime, and the visual novels they had on psp were great.

Two of the examples are Mirumo de pon! and Kochikame, I watched them a lot when I was little and still really love them to this day, though I never finish them.

Samurai champloo: that color palette, those hip hop samurai aesthetics, the awful writing... It's a bittersweer mix that reminds me of Nujabes.

Code Geass and Death Note

Some of the first anime I watched because I was told they were "SO GOOD"
oh boy, they were so wrong!
Now that I have my taste all figured out I would never touch such crap

Toonami and Adult swim shows. And some Saturday morning cartoon lineups.

DBZ, Yugioh, Pokemon, Sailor Moon, and Gundam Wing mainly. Also, the first Full Metal Alchemist, not Brotherhood.

S.D.F. MACROSS/ROBOTECH (1982/1985) the series that single-handedly launched my OTAKUdom back in the mid-1990's,
and was even there to shoulder me some with some "hey, look at what i got here!!" all the way back to the mid/late-80's
when i was but an oblivious young boy...

Watching Slice of Life mixed with other aspects that are produced by Kyoani gives me those nostalgic feelings. Kyoani is really good a setting a vibe and tone that's easy to watch for me.

Pretty much everything that got me into anime. If I had to pick one I'll go with HxH 1999. I wouldn't consider it my favorite anime, but I always try and search for anime that have a similar vibe to it. Berserk 1997 is the closest anime I've found that matches it for me. Any of the world masterpiece theater anime might have a similar vibe since all of them were done by Nippon Animation, but I haven't had the chance to really check them out yet.

I didn't watch Last Exile back when it was airing, but I still got incredibly nostalgic watching it, not just because the series has nostalgia and longing for the past as one of its main themes, but the steampunk aesthetics reminded me of JRPGs I played back in my pre-teen years like like Final Fantasy VI, Grandia and Skies of Arcadia.
Who are you and why do you show your hostility towards a complete stranger whom you've not once spoken with before. Are you seriously asking to get blocked? Well, if that's what your intent is; to tempt me into throwing hands with someone as lowly and insignificant as you, then i may grant your wish provided you articulate yourself a bit better when trying to spite a person of my wavelength.

I can feel nostalgic about almost any anime I've seen, even ones which I've seen recently. These ones are the ones which make me feel the most nostalgic though:
Monogatari, Code Geass: Akito the exiled movies, Eva, Welcome to the NHK, Arakawa under the bridge and Nichijou.

Nagasarete Airantou. I miss Ikuto and Suzu are being together again. Still my favorite character there is Ayane.

I wonder if there is a studio who will make another tokusatsu as original anime. Kamen Rider Kuuga and Ultraman Nexus are legend in Heisei-era. I miss them.

Astro Boy, it used to be on TV all the time when I was growing up. Never really liked it all that much though, it does bring back memories of childhood.

https://myanimelist.net/anime/1076/Wizardry is one I really liked as a kid, I remember having a copy my uncle taped on VHS. Saw it again last year and the memories from then still haven't stopped resurfacing.

Shonen and classic slice of life are nostalgic genre's for me. Mostly because that's where i got my start. Shonen reminds me of being in elementary school and collecting Yugioh cards and the big anime 2000's boom. Classic slice of life were my first anime when i became a bigger fan and not just a casual fan.

Yugioh is definitely the one that hits my nostalgia nerve the hardest.

Pokemon, big time. Specifically the original arc, Diamond & Pearl, and X & Y, as well as a few of the movies. Pokemon was the first anime I ever watched, before I even really knew what anime was, and I still think about certain episodes from time to time.

Quietly destroying its cage

Captain Future
Saber Rider

Fast forward a bit:
Ranma 1/2 (I was late with that one)
90s to early 2000s scifi/cyberpunk stuff; everything GITS up to a point
Golden Boy
Aika

The early 2010s. Shows that give off friend group, easy-going, and summer vibes. Such as Daily Lives of High School Boys, Waiting in the Summer, Hyouka, Kokoro Connect, Tari Tari, Pet Girl of Sakurasou, etc. I say these mostly stem from my earliest experience with anime as a kid who got nothing to do.

Mostly anime that aired on TV here.
So old battle shounen (FMA OG, Bleach, Naruto, Dragon Ball, Shaman King, YuGiOh) and a few kodomo titles here and there (Pokemon, Beyblade etc.)

Rurouni Kenshin, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Samurai Champloo. These were anime with a lot of fight scenes but that wasn't really the focus. They were much more character-driven as the main cast sets out on their journey and we see them develop. They also had distinct styles and emotions that a lot of new anime seem to lack.

Yugioh and Beyblade are nostalgic to me as they were part of my childhood and the first anime that helped me start my journey. Oddly enough, Sword Art Online is also one I can consider nostalgic for the same reason as previously stated.
