Sure, it's enough to pass the time (that would make a 6-7 mark, leaning toward the 7 thanks to the presentation). Glad to learn that there will be more for the hero to learn than the identical lesson he received in the first three times (and still has to understand). "People who live through the same thing as the protagonist"? How could this be? It's a 20years old student whose only interest in life (except for the few short moments he comes to forget about it) is "to have a nice (and probably pretty) girl lover". That's... pretty saddening. (The film doesn't build on anything from what I've seen up to the 3rd episode, it simply "recycles" characters while still introducing them clearly enough for any watcher.) PS: now I feel like I'm too hard with the film only because it drops the ball after clearly stating the problem with its main character like the statement was all false (when it's actually true and the scene in question is the only truly honest one through the whole fantasy that fuels the entire film). Well, too late to give it a 9. (Although I'll have to rewatch it after buying its DVD for Christmas.) |

| That was a pretty overwhelming first episode. I'm used to be being able to read fast but the combination of really fast conversations + equally fast visuals is making this a bit difficult to watch. But it was a pretty good episode. |

| I feel like someone watched Monogatari and thought "I can do that too!". Speaking that fast is not interesting or quirky, its just annoying and makes it a pain to follow. Atleast the animation is boring, simplistic and borderline ugly so you are not missing anything by reading subs. This leaves quite a bad taste for me, lets see if this can turn around. 3/5 |

| Slight Monogatari vibes cause of the amount of dialogue. Why the heck are they talking SO FAST. I had to watch it at 0.75 speed to follow:| Well the MC (unnamed for some reason) here wants to find the love of his life and goes to the match-making God's shrine. The God ,Seitaro Higuchi tells him that either the MC or his friend Ozu will get together with Akashi, his kouhei. The last few moments were wild. Why was Ozu disguised as a woman? And good lord do the other classmates hate Ozu so much that they would push him and his friend off the bridge? |

| Loved the first episode but damn they talk so fast. The mc hates Ozu and ik why but I actually think he's a fun character. The artstyle and animation style is nice and unique. So if I understood it clearly, the MC doesn't think he deserves to fall in love because he has destroyed the love life of many people and he has accepted the lonely life? Interesting 5/5 first episode. |

| I'll admit, I don't enjoy the experience of having to rewind to catch everything that's said because of how fast the dialogue is. It only tripped me up a couple of times, but it definitely detracts from my immersion, but I'm also willing to shoulder part of the blame for that. I don't dislike the fast talking though, I think it's a unique way to capture insight into Watashi's mind. One of the narrations describes his tendency to over-analyze, and that felt right at home with the rapid nature of his thoughts we've been presented with. I can tend to be a bit of a fast talker myself, so I could sort of relate to him through this. That said, I'm thankful to read that it gets slower as it goes along lol. Sort of reminds me of Texhnolyze, that series is sort of anti-Tatami Galaxy, it tells it's story with the least amount of dialogue. The first episode intentionally spent the first 11 minutes without a single word uttered in order to best convey the series ethos and weed out anyone not capable of following that type of series. Sounds like Tatami employed a similar tactic, starting off with the most extreme of their storytelling tactics. But enough about the dialogue, it's the visuals I'm in love with. I was told this was Yuasa at his best, and while I can't yet agree in terms of the big picture, in terms of the direction and visual style, it's already right up there. There is a lot of brilliant, distinctive cuts crammed throughout the twenty minutes that keeps the pace of the quick dialogue. The most obvious highlight is the mixture of real life shots into this, especially during the fireworks sequence, lead to some breathtaking, unique visuals. And it's not just about creating the most interesting shot, but I love the moments where the animation encapsulated the characters. Akashi's cold response to be asked what she does during vacation just freezing over the setting was great but I equally loved how Watashi's stiff conversation was exemplified by drawing him with all straight lines. If he wasn't talking smooth, why draw him smooth? Such a great visual complement to the gag. |
| What in the actual fuck? Why is this so fucking fast? It's as if I'm playing it at X2.5 speed ffs. I had to play it at like X0.5 speed to understand it. But despite all that, I think I got what's going on. Btw how did Ozu know about the matchmaking god? Is he a god of mischief or something in disguise? I think now he goes back in time to spend the next 2 yrs in a better manner. Honestly, the art isn't gorgeous but I like this style. The scene where Akashi and mc were discussing about going to Neko-ramen, looked absolutely beautiful. |

| That was thought provoking at times but I barely had time to think about what was even happening without pausing. I probably missed a lot of information though I think it's unnecessary to have to rewind to figure it out, directors wouldn't intentionally make you do that, right? |

| You know what, I think I'm going to end up loving this! Super fast dialogue, a silly setting and a unique animation style mashed up to produce an entertaining episode, I expected nothing less from Yusa Masaaki-kantoku. It's fantastic to hear Maigoinu To Ame No Beat, the Op theme, once again! It's certainly been a while. And the visuals were interesting too. Sakamoto Maaya-san playing the role of the female lead, now isn't that interesting? MC's VA did an amazing job this episode too. If this episode is anything to go by, I'll be having quite the fulfilling anime binge later tonight. |

| "A confusing yet perfectly directed start." ➛ The first thing I'd like to mention is the high-speed narration. It's tough to keep up with the subtitles and enjoy the animation at the same time. ➛ The animation and artistry are breathtaking. The mix between actual live-action footage, minimalism, and cartoonish style is spectacular. I liked how they use color contrast in the background and characters. This choice makes for consistently theatrical contrasts, which the show isn’t afraid to lean into. The first episode was a masterpiece of visual storytelling. ➛ Our MC, Watashi, is also the narrator, so we see everything through his eyes. It's like the author wants us to step into his shoes and feel all the chaos and emotions he's dealing with firsthand. Total immersion, right? ➛ Watashi is a teenager, and like every teenager, he wants to feel love, make lots of friends, and be popular. I can relate to that, and I'm sure you can too. He's lonely, and in his head, everything is messed up. He's a bitter character who can't see his own mistakes. He blames everyone around him but never himself. He's socially awkward and doesn't know how to interact with others. ➛ He and Ozu embrace their unhappiness together. Ozu seems like a demon, poisoning Watashi's personality. Together, they decide to break up other people's romantic relationships. ➛ That ending left me craving more, and I'm totally convinced our God figure is a massive fraud. There's no way he's an actual god or demi-god. Can't wait to see how this unravels! |
