I like how they are making Abiriga a very relevant character in this show now. Episode felt more or less like a buildup.

Mahmut's strategic mind impresses me for someone of his age. That's a load of gold he won! Lol, I'm amused at the salty guys that lost to him Can't wait to see Mahmut's next move.

Abiriga joins Mahmut. Mahmut is impressive, playing chess against 20 opponents at the same time.

Cyrus's reaction in seeing Brega's wife was amusing.

Man that felt fast in terms of the pacing of events but then again it felt like a build up to a new arc in this. Honestly glad this is 24 episodes so that we get a full in-depth look at the world building. Glad to see Mahmut's character building too. But that wife doe....omg.
Don't believe the hype.

Yeah that Doge guy might look like he's soft but actually he's a pretty tough player for his country.

Very nice to see Mahmut's fellowship growing.

Ended his stay very fast in Venedik now he's moving to a new country and we're finally meeting an actual Sultan of a country.

Abiriga was set up, but that was all an act to see what Mahmut would do. He's quite skilled in chess. He won against 20 opponents. Abiriga joins Mahmut after being bought by him. At first, Doge Lucio looked like he doesn't care what happened in recent events, but he actually does. It was funny when Cyrus saw Brega's wife.

Good episode.

Glad to see Abriga joining Mahmut, I took a liking to him last episode.

Venedik's ruler may be cold and caluclating but he hasn't lost his humanity, given his cold comments throughout the episode regarding their treaty with Phoenike, I really liked how they contrasted that with him building that bell at the end.

Abiriga joined Mahmut, what a surprise.[ s] oh wait it wasn't, thanks opening[/s]

Mahmuts chess skills are definitely off the charts, would like to see him play against Leloch or Blank etc..

Episode was quite nice overall.

My brother Doge with the merchant attitude but still has a good side.
Mahmut playing 20 chess at a time for money and clears the test that was set up to see if he's worthy for abiriga and he is.

I loved this episode. The first scene was very intense and the soundtrack certainly helped. A fast paced and very entertaining chapter of the history.

Hmm, so it seems there's something underway here. A possible war against the Empire through indirect means such as forming an alliance with Mahmut?

On another note, in the beginning of the episode when Mahmut was talking to him about what his version of an ideal nation was.. "a peaceful nation." I like how he turned that around back in Mahmut's face, but Mahmut could have countered that argument by saying that country was just being an enabler to the Empire's invasions. Sometimes neutrality is violence, indirectly.

Mahmut now has a new addition to his group in the form of Abiriga, after clearing that test from the Captain. The red-haired guy from the OP will finally show up next time, their meeting with him should be interesting.

Called it! Venedik didn't want to make an enemy out of the Empire! They want to remain neutral. Doge may have seemed cold, but the shock on his face upon hearing about Magistros' death showed that he isn't completely cold.

Damn man. Abiriga gave Brega one heck of a scar...

20 CHESS GAMES AT THE SAME TIME! MAHMUT WON 20 CHESS GAMES AT THE SAME TIME! BEAT THAT KEIMA KATSURAGI! Mahmut might not be the best fighter, but if he is able to handle 20 chess games (AT THE SAME TIME!), I would love to see him in a commander or strategist position. Ahh Cecilia. What a way to stop a bar brawl from happening...

So Abiriga's crime was all a trick by Brega to test how Mahmut would deal with it. He's probably surprised on how he got the money to buy him lol. And he still bought him regardless. Respect to Mahmut. And now it looks like Venedik will be a potential ally when Mahmut needs them. I just hope that they don't back out this time like they did with Phoinike...

"The realist reins in the inexperienced, while inexperience makes up for the flaws of realism with innovation." This is a nice line. Applies directly to Mahmut's character development.

Abiriga joins the party! And they're going to meet a Sultan next episode! Let's see how Mahmut deals with this!

From an interesting Doge to a dirty bundle of twee twee twists.

It's a good thing Mahmut's friend is here to pleasure us with his #thick reactions.

Well played Doge, well played. Despite that realist facade, he did have a soft spot for the Magistros. Organizing everything in order to plant Abriga into Mahmut's ranks was quite a masterstroke, and to think he did it all in one episode too.

Liking Abriga as a character as well. Seems both intelligent and a decent hand in a fight as well.

And from the looks of it, we're heading back to Türkiye to deal with more internal strife now.

The real act starts now. I guess that explains the fast pacing. Pretty sad that score is never going to pick up.

Gosh, this is one of the few shows that manage to keep me really hyped for the next episodes and at the same time it's so underrated (The other being Shingeki no Bahamut and Princess Principal). Really makes me feel sorry for this anime. It's such a by the book adventure in the genre of epic. I've always found pseudo-historical fiction to be quite interesting because of its relatable nature.

Those two episode are made up of 5 chapters, so I can't really call it fast pace (But yeah looks fast pace enough) although they took out alot of humour.

wow thats been a crazy episode. I like Doge as a person, he is calculating and logical person, he is not gonna throw himself to a war with an opponent that he is unlikely to beat and for what? to kill of his people? but he is a really good ruler, he likes people, even set up that bell. And looks like he took a liking to Mahmut for who he is and wants to set up an ally relationship with him. He wanted him to observe Venedict to learn more.

Now for Abiriga, wow that deceiving was great honestly. I was legit surprised, i thought its gonna be another story of character being forsaken/exiled and MC picks him up in his team, but it was just a plot by Venedict to set up an ally relationship with Torque and Abiriga is a perfect candidate to send.

I really really liked how Mahmut instead of agreeing to take Abiriga, he decided to pay for him so it doesnt look like agrees with the alliance but its more like he buys him. Mahmut learns, learns. And thats why i love this anime, Mahmut conflicted on many things like why did Doge didnt help out his allies and realizing there are 2 sides to a person which you need to understand. And he makes more and more acquintances and potential allies. Very very good progression!!!!

Not to mention i really enjoy the fact that we have a team now yaaay. I wonder if Iskander will take a liking to Abiriga right away or will it take time just like with Cyrus.

I feel like this anime would be particularly interesting and compelling, as well as significantly more enjoyable if only it moved at about 1/3 of its current pace. As it stands right now, I feel like it's trying to blast through too many story arcs too fast that it's leaving out relevant details to keep the story afloat. Right now it honestly hasn't progressed story-wise much further than the first couple episodes. They should have followed the story-telling and companion-building formula that was used in Akatsuki no Yona and Arslan Senki.

This is getting better & better. I like how this presents various ideals & philosophies without favoring any particular viewpoint. It's as Doge Lucio said, that you need a balance to maintain perspective.

I have some suspicions about Abiriga, especially the reason he mentioned to want to tag along with Mahmut. But it's turning out to be a dynamic group.
