I mean fujoshis love Levi. Honestly, there are so many shounen series like Gintama and Haikyuu with tons of female (including fujoshi) fans that they might as well be shoujo. Probably not coincidentally, those two are some of the most unorthodox and well-developed shounen series out there.

Not at all because it was published in a shoujo magazine.

It's shoujo because it was serialised in a shoujo magazine.

Honestly having demographics as genres is dumb, they should be their own separate field.

Demographics dont mean much especially since it's just decided by the magizine it's published in, either way how is that a bad thing? If you take that attitude you're going to miss out on a lot of really good anime.

Have you looked at the page for the manga it was adapted from?
"A spin-off shoujo manga that centers around Levi's and Erwin's past."
There are spin-off manga of Code Geass for each of the four demographics. This is not uncommon.

Power of friendship kills a lot more of villain on the shounen manga side you know.

Rainbows can be extremely gruesome and deadly though. THere's that character from Mahou SHoujo ikusei keikaku, ugh. Shiny rainbows cut body parts very well, especially when caught by surprise.

More on not all shoujo is flowers and fairies:

Spoilers for X/1999 below as well as gore and boobies

Wolf's Rain is also worth mentioning, because although it is not tagged as a shoujo it is absolutely shoujo with a primarily female fanbase. And then of course there's Ayashi no Ceres which can be a bloodbath at times (though it's not a very good series). Hakuoki is noteworthy as well as it takes place during a largescale war and literally everyone dies, and it is the only 17-18+ otome game to ever get an English release. The 17-18+ rating is for blood, not sex.

So yeah. Shoujo has it's share of blood and dark themes.

I'm from the future 2021. Attack on Titan has ended. Isayama trolled everyone thinking Shingeki no Kyojin was a horror fantasy when it's really a Shounen-Shojou story.

No, they removed the shoujo tag. ;_;
The original spin-off manga was published as a shoujo.
