Slice-of-life anime shows that talk about cute high-school girls forming band together. The two shows differ slightly in that K-on focuses more on cuteness of moe characters while Bocchi is more about comedy in an abstract way.

Relatable for people with social anxiety. Both stories are rather simple, but very likeable. Same goes for characters.

Comedic stories with a focus on music as the plot's vessel. The personalities of the characters in both animes are rather similar and the stories develop in a similar fashion. On one side, Bocchi the Rock has a somewhat more mature plot with a lesser focus on school life and a much bigger comedic impact, but both shows include many scenes bound to make anyone who enjoys music and specifically the whole aspects of live performances and a band's day-to-day lives feel really hyped. The music in both animes is amazing for anyone who likes rock, and any musicians can certainly be inspired by what they  read more

- Creating a rock band. - For the main character it's the first time in their lives to experience being in a band. - Main character is very talented but other members don't know it at first. - Problems with money so band members have to do additional work. Both series feature these aspects so if you are looking for similar series you might check them out.

CGDCT Manga Time Kirara anime adaptations with a very introverted protagonist who has trouble talking to others meeting a cast of characters in a certain goal they strive for, meeting some more talktative and extroverted main characters too on the journey. Probably the main difference in the protagonist's characters is that Umika's a lot more quiet and timid and petit-feeling whereas Bocchi is more just having social anxiety not wanting to mingle and socialize. As well, Bocchi the Rock takes more on a gag comedy-feel of a show compared to Hoshikuzu Telepath's more plot-based show.

Both Bocchi the Rock and BanG Dream focus on high school girls who are in bands together, with slice-of-life elements and a great cast of characters. Both shows also have amazing music.

Bocchi the Rock and 3-Gatsu no Lion are slice of life shows told from the POV of the main character. Hitori and Rei are very skilled in wath they do (Guitar vs Shogi), but struggle with crippling mental conditions (social anxiety vs depression). Both characters put in a lot of effort to overcome their shortcoming and are helped by some really great people during the history. It's also common for both shows to fully utilise the media to delivery they emotional payload at full strenght to the audience, begin a treat both to ears and eyes.

There are very creative visual gags and overall good direction, similar to Karekano. If you appreciated this aspect of Karekano and are not turned off by the idea of a 4 girls cringe comedy focused on single character narrative, you will probably really enjoy this show.

Music anime that doesn't sugarcoat what it's like to be a musician, one is a rock guitarist and the other is a jazz pianist. Introverted protagonists Hitori Gotou and Kaoru Nishimi need to break out of their shells for them to be able to play their instruments alongside other bandmates. Also, both anime serve their respective genres with its scene justice.

Both anime are comedic slife-of-life series that focuses on socially anxious protagonists trying their best to make friends and engage with the broader world.

Both shows feature a main character who struggles with (relatable?) self doubt and a lack of confidence. They have a similar feel of comedy, as their struggles are both portrayed in a similarly comic way. Although Bocchi feels more exaggerated/extreme than Comic Girls in that regard. Both characters also have a similar kind of situation and growth. They enter a new environment and make new friends who have a shared goal. You see both characters slowly grow as they gain more confidence, work harder, and become more comfortable with their new friends. While the main character in Comic girls isn't a prodigy like in Bocchi  read more

Both series focus on deeply socially anxious protagonists who try their best to deal with social interactions and day-to-day life in comedic scenarios.

Bocchi the Rock! is one of the most creative comedy series in years. Its humour is centered on a single character with social anxiety as she tries to be part of a band. It uses an unhinged animation style to portray how the main character is feeling, which creates very funny and memorable moments. Asobi Asobase is easily part of the top tier of comedy anime. Its gag humour is centered on the dynamics of three characters as they hangout after school. It uses an unhinged animation style to emphasize its ridiculous takes. Both anime excel at absurd comedy, which is very difficult to  read more

Both shows are music centered with unique but relatable and inspiring characters characters and fell-good friendship elements. Though there are differences such as Carole &Tuesday being sci-fi while Bocchi the Rock is slice of life, both have a great plot with some comedy elements.

If you like Bocchi the Rock for its playful character chemistry, laid back feel, and cute character designs then you'll like NNB.

Both shows center around multiple girls (Two in Popute, four in Bocchi). The art direction, sound, direction, etc. in both shows is constantly changing. While Popute is a gag anime made of of short skits, Bocchi is more of a simple comedy about a girl with social anxiety. Personally I found Bocchi both less funny and less engaging, but someone who appreciated the always-changing direction of Bocchi may appreciate the similar chaotic feeling of Popute, and vise versa.

The MCs of these shows are similar in their initial personalities, both being depressed, friendless, lonely people, but then they find a hobby and gain confidence and friendship. Super Cub is far less comedic than Bocchi, taking on a more dramatic, chill tone, but I think that the overall narrative similarities override that. Both also fall into that niche of CGDCT that go into a lot of depth with the hobby of the girls.

The CGDCT genre for girls- Cool Guys Doing Clumsy Things. Each episode feels like a short therapy session that ends way too quickly. Animation and colors are pleasing on the eyes, both are comfy shows with relatable characters.

Hitori (Bocchi the Rock!) and Futaba (Amanchu) are socially introverted individuals who lack any self-confidence, but aspire to break out of their isolation. By luck, they encounter someone who drags them to something new. Hitori has deep social anxiety to the point of living with self-deprecation as a coping mechanism. Futaba is simply a shy and nervous girl who is tired of being lonely. Bocchi the Rock! is the more engaging anime because Hitori will knowingly self-sabotage herself whereas Futaba is a good girl who works hard to change herself. Anyone who felt loneliness or personal inadequacy will relate to them.

Although Bocchi the Rock! is centered on a girl with crippling social anxiety who joins a rock band, it is one of the most creative comedy series in years. The animators extends the scenes from its 4-koma manga source material. By using various animation styles to portray the thoughts and emotions of the main character, they are better able to show her neuroticism, which creates the humour. Daily Lives of High School Boys is a more standard comedy series without a real storyline. It is a pure gag comedy anime centered on a group of boys living their lives. It has no life lessons, but  read more

both are a cute/fun slice of life where a cast of highschool girls start a band together!! Bocchi The Rock is a little more high energy rather than the usually relaxing vibe of K-on, but it gives me the same feeling of hanging out with characters I like being around and just having a good time going on adventures together. The MC, Bocchi, has crippling anxiety, and the characters she meets- from her new friends in Keisoku Band to side characters- all have distinct personalities that make it fun to watch!! For those who like Bocchi the Rock's perspective on overcoming social anxiety, Welcome to the NHK is a fresh take that focuses almost exclusively on this element.

Bocchi The Rock comes of as a goofy slice of life anime that has good music and good implementation. But.. what if... it had drama. Hibike! Euphonium has it all, from goofy interactions to humane characters and really personal character development. (I honestly thought Bocchi was the peak of music anime but this anime really tops it off. Hands down my all time favorite.)

atm only watched 1 episode of bocchi but both are shows with bright colours and are about a person with crippling social anxiety but genderswapped and also instead of fishing its being in a band and also are both really fun to watch.

The comedy style is super similar and the animation is over the top and constantly switching art styles just like Bocchi. Also main girl is socially awkward just not as awkward

Bocchi the Rock and Kitakubu Katsudou Kiroku both have a similar style of humor. If you find the jokes in Bocchi the Rock funny, especially the ones that break the 4th wall, then you may also enjoy Kitakubu Katsudou Kiroku because it has these kinds of gags and jokes in it all the time. Check it out if you are interested.

Cute girls doing cool music. Nuff said.

Both series focus on high schoolers who are devoting themselves to a craft (art in Period, music in Bocchi) while interacting with like-minded artists and dealing with their own internal/psychological issues. Bocchi leans much more onto the comedy than Blue Period does and has a more varied animation style.

"I really want to feel the music, the real j-rock both in the anime and in their music" I firmly believe that the best thing about this anime is the music. The songs that have come out are really good, and I feel like there are very few in between that make you go, "Wow, I'm definitely going to listen to every song by this band." So, which anime complies with this rule? Fukumenki Noise If you are one of those who likes insertion songs more, you will love this anime. Also in the openings, endings, OST, etc. "Kessoku band" has made me feel what at first made me  read more

Girls starts a band (Bocchi the Rock)/an idol group (Zombieland Saga). Bocchi the Rock and Zombieland Saga shares great characters in the cast and if you like cute girls doing their best with music these animes are good matches.

Both anime have main leads with crippling social anxiety and have very similar overreactions when encountering anything outside their very small bubble. They slowly but eventually learn to gain more confidence in themselves. There are superficial differences in plot and set-up but notable ones are that Princess Jellyfish is about inner beauty and has romantic elements whilst Bocchi the Rock is about music and making friends CGDCT-style. Jellyfish is also about young adults while Bocchi has highschoolers as the main characters. Thematically though they are very similar and both have visually creative gags and have well-executed comedic tones

Both are music-driven anime that involve introverted leads whose main insecurities are played for laughs Bocchi - Social awkwardness DMC - Split-personality

While Bocchi's characters are high school students and its fundamentaly a Cute Girls Doing Cute Things show, making it completely different from the dramatic elements of NANA and the problems of young adults, the music aspect of NANA and Bocchi is very similar. This recommendation is for those who enjoyed the band and concert parts of Bocchi, because NANA gives an almost identical feeling when it comes to perfomance and live play of the bands included in the series.

If you want another pure comedy show with good animations, then this is a show for you, even though they couldn't be furter apart in every other aspect.

Both series are comedies satirizing darker and uncomfortable aspects of humanity with protagonists that are....not in the best head space to say the least. Where BTR satirizes (but also portrays in a perfect and honest fashion) social anxiety, SZS satirizes all the problems with society as a whole. SZS's protagonist is an outright cynical person who's prone to freak outs in a similar vein as Bocchi, however both still manage to keep a light and comedic tone....most of the time. SZS also goes absolutely ham with it's visuals. While BTR's experimental visuals are saved for Bocchi's internal struggles, SZS is just a straight up avant garde  read more

The essential Kirara companion series to BTR. Both series have cameos in each other, and both mangaka are friends with each other.

Very different genre and atmospheres, but very similar use of creative artwork to depict ideas and emotions. Bakemonogatari (or Monogatari as a whole) is a little more abstract with the imagery, but Bocchi the Rock does a better job at flowing in and out of the imagery in a way to keep everything in the scene.

Bocchi the Rock! and Kimi ni Todoke are centered on two protagonists that have a complete lack of social skills, which causes them endless difficulties. Sawako (Kimi ni Todoke) is a pure-hearted, and compassionate girl who desperately wants friends, but is constantly bullied for her being scary-looking. Her self-deprecation and naivety creates misunderstandings that she is unable to resolve easily since she has no social skills. Bocchi (Bocchi the Rock!) is a nervous trainwreck in a perpetual state of despair who desperately wants to change and have friends, but is incapable of approaching someone. Despite from the different era (Azumanga from Heisei and BTR from Reiwa) and genre (BTR focuses in music while Azumanga is a SoL with more general context), both Azumanga and BTR are the same sitcom-SoL anime shows that share the same cute but goofy and even memetic traits, mainly from Bocchi herself and Osaka, and both are relatable either in their respective eras or nowadays. Both Bocchi and Osaka are considered by many fans as the goofiest slice of life heroines ever exist. Well, if you want to enjoy a slapstick slice of life, these two would be a great combination.
