Mirai Nikki (TV)

Yukiteru Amano is a shy middle schooler who regularly keeps track of what he does in his daily life by writing down all of his activities on his phone—a digital diary. Despite having no friends at school, Yukiteru is frequently seen talking to his supposedly imaginary friends Deus Ex Machina, the god of time and space; and Deus' servant, Mur Mur.

One day, Yukiteru wakes up and discovers that certain events of his day are preemptively displayed on his cellphone. While initially dismissing it as a coincidence, he slowly realizes that the incidents written in his phone actually take place in the near future. After spending the day benefiting from this new asset, Yukiteru learns that his classmate Yuno Gasai possesses a similar diary.

As the two team up to defeat an odd pursuer and head back to their respective homes, Deus Ex Machina explains that they—alongside 10 other contestants—have been drawn into a survival game whose victor will become the deity's successor. With no other options, Yukiteru and Yuno must use their cellphones—now called "Future Diaries"—to survive this unforgiving battle royale.

Okay. Here's my first ever review on this website. (free from spoilers btw)

I don't have much to say, simply because this series left me speechless. It's absolutely amazing. The plot, the way the story line develops, not to mention the plot twists. Unlike other movies and series I've seen, I couldn't predict the plot twists at all, whatsoever. But that doesn't mean that this series doesn't have it's bad parts.

I feel like it's one of those things like "good idea, bad execution", but in this case its more of a "amazing idea, meh execution" kinda thing. I'm not saying that the animators got lazy or ... something, that's definitely not the case - but the general feel that the animation gave me near the end of the series didn't get me NEARLY as excited as it did in the beginning. I wish that it would have kept me in that same suspenseful state of mind throughout the entire series.

Overall, I honestly give this a 10/10. I'm not the type of person to argue with anyone based on ratings like these, because what works for me might not work for other people, and vice-versa. This was an amazing anime, and I recommend this to whoever contemplates whether to watch it or not.

Mixed Feelings

Mirai nikki huh, imagine if you have a device that can help you "see the future" and everyone's gadgets have their own uniqueness to see the future, there are a total of 12 users of the future dairy, who are the last man standing who will replace the position of the god of space and time.

That might give you an idea / expectation that this anime will show the participants of this survival game will kill each other brutally, yes you will get that feel but not that great, especially as the story of this anime is increasingly unclear where it is going, I was ... actually quite disappointed and had time to drop but I kept going because of the "heroin" maybe?, gasai yuno, a yandere girl who is willing to kill anyone for the sake of amano yukiteru/yukki, I was curious about what was being kept secret by yuno, and other things that made me like yuno what else besides the design and voice actress, I don't want spoilers but still decent, the ending is quite hanging and must continue the ova first.

But it pays off with the ending, even though it's not very good, I can take a lot of lessons from this anime, learn to love and be loved, haha words I've never heard ...

Shit. Shit. Shit.
Mirai Nikki is truly shit. I thought it was "good bad" at first due to how over the top it was, but after 5 episodes it became borderline torture to sit through. I dropped it after 12 episodes because I couldn't take it anymore, but decided to finally just get it over with and finish it. If there's any typos in this review, forgive me; my brain is still sore from the amount of mental gymnastics this show requires. The battles make no sense. The character "development" makes no sense. Characters will kill dozens of people in one episode, and then everyone forgets about it in the next. Pointless nudity is added just to keep the gooners engaged. Even Yuno, the only actually interesting part in this entire anime, isn't even consistent from episode to episode. Shit, they can't even stick with a firm-set family dynamic for her. The main character (i forgot his name) goes from pussy to fuckboy then back to pussy within 2 episodes. The cop guy asks the eyepatch-rocket-underwear lady to have his babies, rocket-underwear lady tells him to back tf off, the dude fucking dies, and all of the sudden she feels the need to avenge his death like that guy was the world to him. Shit like that happens EVERY. SINGLE. EPISODE. Whatever man I'm done. If you want an actual good show about time-travel with a similar art style, do yourself a favor and go watch Steins;Gate, not this.
