Both of these Anime deal with notes that fortell things. On one side, you have a strong male lead who writes the death futures, on the other side, you have a weak male lead who sees his own future predicted and his possible death.
report Recommended by Yemi_Hikari
Both series deal with a teenage protagonist given an unusual supernatural tool in an otherwise ordinary world and the moral dilemmas, mind games, and fights for survival that ensue.
report Recommended by lithiumflower
They both involve common items that give incredible godly power, lots of death and violence, and a hot chick that hangs around the main character (who ignores them/uses them as a pawn). The real difference is that Yuno (in mirai nikki) is like a lvl 13 yandere, while Misa is like a lvl 3 annoying emo supermodel.
report Recommended by SasakiAkatsuchi
Both feature male leads who have a notebook/diary that can allow them to control fate
report Recommended by XanthReborn
Two supernatural animes that feature: - Loner teen boy who comes across as a snob to others holding the fate of others in his hands - His 'diary' is something supernatural and he dare not lose it - Blind loyal fangirls also feature in both - Deceitful gods

Mirai Nikki = Death Note with a middle schooler. There's something about the feel of the two shows that's the same, as well as the animation of the OP (first here to second in DN). Yuno is like a badass yandere Misamisa, and Yuki doesn't (so far?) have Light's... questionable morals. Like... he tried to 'use' Yuno, but that kind of failed. =3=; And there's police, and 'diary that predicts the future' is eerily similar to 'notebook that causes the future death of people'.

Death note involves a journal/dairy that allows a person to kill (predict the death) of an individual. This is a psychological suspense anime as well.
report Recommended by Swiftstrike
Both have similar plot which involves future events. But nowhere a match. Its an insult to compare this to deathnote. But it is watchable due to artwork and fast paced pointless plot.

Mirai Nikki ,this anime remind me of the Great Death Note :Notes,Killing, god and a dream of being the new god, serial killers, smart detective ,and the girl love boy in a crazy way

Notepad decisive about life and death, the diary determinant for life and death, who cares? Also for using both of these notebooks thinking is necessary.

Mirai Nikki and Death Note share some similarities with their supernatural elements. In both series, there is a god who makes the rules for the participants. Moreover, both series involve diaries that have to do with fate. Death Note is more on the strategic side while Mirai Nikki is more on the psychological side. Both are recommended for people who enjoy thrillers.

Mirai nikki, death note, mirai nikki, death note. Characters in both animes have close "perimeters" with death, deals with death, and include notes that literally have the supernatural powers to prognosticate death.
report Recommended by Stellio
They're similar in regards to the entire 'NoteBook of Death/Crappy Blackberry Of Death' figure. However, the storyline, plotholes, suspense .. I can't begin to explain the details of such a revolutionary anime. Broke my #1 instantly!

Psychological thriller with teenagers gaining supernatural items.

they both focus on the cat and mouse game, the one who finds out the others identety dies. They both have great stradigy and tactics. antoher thing thats simular is that it's both really suspence, you know that addiction of needing to know whats going to happen next.

Death Note asks the question 'What would you do if you were given free license to kill by simply writing your desire in a notebook?' Mirai Nikki (Future Diary) asks the question 'What would you do if a god gave you (and others) powers of foresight and promised that the last one standing would take over his place as god?' Both shows have a competition among people granted supernatural powers who must use their wits if they want to survive. They also provide a dark plot with a few twists and pose philosophical questions about the justifications of murder for a noble goal. The main characters find   read more

Both anime follow really intuitive plot lines, with constant twists. They are both excellent interesting drama's to the very end. Aside from that they have few similarities, but if you like one you WILL like the other.

Mirai Nikki is a little Death Note, hasn't got the power of the characters of Death Note, but have a very original story with mistery and drama, with similar things. Also Mirai Nikki is one of the most underrated anime

Both series have strange plot twists and a dark tone running through it. A game of wits between several characters with a deadly outcome.

- Both anime have some kind of "God" in the play. - The main characters evade death and kill other characters without hesitation, but use their wits to do that. - Both have an overly attached girlfriend in them. - In both anime you can find a device that is helping the main character (in Mirai Nikki it helps the side characters as well), but the thing is that those devices have flaws which the opponents have to discover in order to win or outsmart the main character or the other characters. - The theme is a survival game in both anime, even if it's not that present in   read more

The basic idea is similar, but the storyline is different in every way (almost). The recommendation is more like "what should i watch next?". Both are masterpieces and the stories are really unique. The charactters hook you up and dont let you get away. Once u start watching it, there is no way u wont be thinking it the next day at work! The big difference between those 2 in general is that Mirai Nikki has romance in it, and Death Note, well not even close to romance... Both series involve diaries, except there are major differences in how things are played out. Instead of the main character being strong and playing god, as seen in "Death Note's" Light, "Future Diary's" Yukiteru Amano is battling to BE god, or rather, survive the attacks from others trying to beat him to it. The parallels between the two are strikingly clear, although both series take off in different directions. One harnesses the power of death, while the other makes its plays by attempting to avoid it.

Both anime are kinda "self insert" but truly epic. Both have male main character with supernatural powers that are used to become god. They also have heavy story progression with practically no fillers and a lot of cliff hangers between episodes. Also they are both relatively dark and feature heavy character progression. Honestly if you haven't seen both I'd recommend to watch them asap.
report Recommended by Hinatoo
Similarities: -both has a God involved, giving the Male Lead powers to change their destiny. -both has a Female Lead with same powers but uses it to help the Male Lead achieve their goals. -both has a good detective trying to work out a solution to the problems at hand. Difference: -Death Note keeps the murders (gore stuff) a little bit controlled and has less sexual intimacy around. -Mirai Nikki has more of the murderous stuff (gore) and has a more sexual intimacy around.

Instead of a book of death the main character has a diary (cell phone) that sees the future.
report Recommended by Ignopius
These anime have so much difference and probably shouldn't be compared. However there is a few similarities - psycho guys and a thing in which you write :D... If you looking for a anime with psycho there you are. However these psychoes are different. Death note character takes all thinking and strategising on his own while in Mirai nikki yuki thinks and yuno usually acts. These things they use are similar but alsow different. Yagami uses death note to kill, yuki uses his phone to predict his rivals movements. So basically that's it. Start watching :)
report Recommended by Catchthefox
Characters narrate the story themselves, mystery and suspense play a huge part in both. Characters in both work their way up to playing god.
report Recommended by KamuiJunketsu
It is quite violent and there is a way that the diaries and Death Notes kind of tie in together. The diary gets shot and the holder dies. Whereas the Death Note holders life is lengthened by the note. So it kind of has some similarities if you really dig deep but it's hard to explain how with out spoiling it.
report Recommended by Horserida
Both Death Note and Mirai Nikki start off with the main character recieving a tool of potential mass destruction from a godlike existence. Even though the main characters are polar oposites in terms of personality, they both face similar challenges in which they have to use their tool to defeat -- in most instances, kill -- the many rivals they face throughout the series. There is a similar degree of mystery and suspense in both series; they blurr the lines between friend or foe, good or evil, and you never know when the enemy is going to strike next.

It's a series that keeps you guessing. The characters are dark but feels real. It has a good start, a little slow in the middle but finishes well. If you like the mind game aspect of Death Note, I think you'll love this one as well, even though its not as famous.
report Recommended by NordicHS
Both of them are dark stories. Death Note has notes to kill while Mirai Nikki has notes to survive to stay alive or be killed. Both of them has a god to serve. In Death Note, the god is a companion while Mira Nikki the hod is a watcher to different people who are participating the game. In Death Note, the concept is a criminal chase while Mirai Nikki is a survival game.

Both animes center around the idea of objects with superpowers. In both animes, main characters try to outsmart their opponents to survive. Every episode in Mirai Nikki was exciting, full of suspense. The bit of romance in both animes were also a bit similar. I recommend you watch Mirai Nikki if you enjoyed Death Note.

From innocence to experience. Light and Yukiteru start off as normal high school kids who end up getting caught in a situation beyond reality, though, Light's situation wasn't forced onto him, whereas Yukiteru's was. Light and Yukiteru both obtain extraordinary items, Light obtaining the Death Note and Yukiteru obtaining the Future Diary. With this, both characters end up fighting for the sake of being at the highest position, through any means, they can achieve, of which, is God.

Mirai Nikki is much closer to Death Note than Code Geass is. Sure, Death Note and Code Geass share some similarities, but Mirai Nikki is really what Death Note should be compared to (until Liar Game gets an anime, which is apparently super similar to Death Note). Anyways, in both Death Note and Mirai Nikki, an loner teenage boy (Light Yagami/Yukiteru Amano) receives a strange supernatural power that predict the death of somebody (The Death Note/The Future Diary). The plots are similar to each other in many aspects. Vaguely making an analogy, one can say if Death Note is a single player game, then, Mirai Nikki is a battle royale kinda plot.

Both are amazing thrillers, and the mc is given a item with a unique power. Light gets the death note, and yukiteru gets the nokia diary, or basically a diary that can tell the future. Mainly it’s the atmosphere that’s alike, because the plots are totally different. Both are masterpieces in my opinion.

The detail that made me instantly think of Death Note, besides journals, control over the future and gods were the female characters Yuno Gasai respectively Misa-Misa who are obsessed with the main character.

A Mysterious mood, murder and psychological traps - these are the main things, that connects these two. "Kill or be killed" I think that would be a great motto for both of these series. The visible insanity of characters and a desperate will to live, that is what makes these two so thrilling and terrifying. Mirai Nikki is definitely worth watching, if you liked the mood and the mystery of the Death Note.
report Recommended by CyberOnion
Both have a storyline full of mystery, strategy, and murder. The closer to the end of the episode the more exciting and has an unexpected plot twist. The main characters in this anime both kill other characters to get their goal, which is to become a god. However, the endings in these two anime are different.

Both "Death Note" and "Mirai Nikki" feature intense psychological warfare between characters in a life-or-death-context. Both feature devices created by a higher power (aka the Death Note and the Future Diaries) which can be used to outsmart the advisary. And of course, both feature a crazy, beautiful yandere (Misa Amane and Yuno Gasai). The difference being of course, that Yuno is both yandere and cold-blooded genius, so more of a mixture of Light and Misa - while the actual main character of "Mirai Nikki", Yukiteru Amano, is kinda annoying and stupid. "Mirai Nikki" is also way more graphic than "Death Note", which not only includes bloody violence, but   read more
