Kyousuke Kousaka, a normal seventeen-year-old high school student, hasn't gotten along with his younger sister, Kirino, in years. For longer than he can remember, Kirino has ignored his comings and goings and looked at him with spurning eyes. It seemed as if the relationship between Kyousuke and his sister, now fourteen, would continue this way forever.

One day, however, Kyousuke finds a DVD case of a magical girl anime entitled Hoshikuzu Witch Meruru (Stardust Witch Meruru), which had fallen into the entranceway of his house. To Kyousuke's surprise, inside the case is a hidden adult video game titled Imouto to Koishiyo! (Love with Little Sister!). Kyousuke attempts to fish out the culprit who dropped the case by bringing up the topic of magical girl anime at the family dinner table. All that comes out is a strong negative reaction from his parents, especially his anti-otaku policeman father.

That night, Kirino bursts into Kyousuke's room and, in perhaps the first conversation she has initiated with him in years, says they "have things to talk about." Kirino brings Kyousuke to her room and shows him an extensive collection of moe anime and lolicon bishoujo games she has been collecting in secret.

'Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai' (Long titles for the win) is one of those animes I just can't figure out. On the surface it appears to be an anime about a brother and a sister who struggle to realise their feelings for each other. But in reality it is about much more than that. We have a good chunk of the story here focused on anime and the world of otakus as well as the friendships that one can gain simply by going outside and meeting new people.

That said, the plot's main purpose is to of course present us the read more

This anime was a pleasant surprise. It has an interesting take on the bro-sis relationship. The two siblings treat each other like most do in the real world, with dislike, indifference, hate and of course love. It has an intriguing plot to begin with and as the story unfolds it actually makes you care about the characters.
I found the characters refreshing and liked how they seemed to change as the story advanced. Most of them seemed to be more well thought out than your usual 2d run of the read more

I can't help but feel this show got a little to mainstream for it's own good, hopefully without descending into a rant this show has evidently been watched by many users who knew full well they had no fondness for this sort of show going into it.

Ore no Imouto is at times nothing short of brilliant. While not quite up there with shows like Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu, when contrasted with more standard efforts like Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu this show it truly special.

Our story follows Kyousuke who inadvertently stumbles across his seemingly perfect younger sister Kirino's secret obsession with little sister's (in games read more

IMO, this anime is mediocre at best. People at general seem to like it, but maybe I just don't see its full potential. I do like the ending.

Kyosuke, the male lead is a doormat. He suffers from apathy, and who can blame him? Putting with all the shit his little sister does. He is basically a slave to her problems and desires and has none of his own. Yes, he gets some affection - but hell, for all the effort he is putting in that's insane. We can't put all the blame on his sister, he is a pushover.

Kirino, the female lead. I hate her read more

These two are so similar that the OreImo cast made a 'from behind' cameo appearance, in episode 11 of Boku.

Kirino and Sena are the same character... breasts aside. Their spoiled princess attitudes, erotic game addiction, prideful arrogance getting in the way of friendship and fangs are NEARLY IDENTICAL. What's more, Kuroneko and Yozora ALSO MIRROR EACH OTHER--sharing 'bickering love' friendships with K&S respectively. They argue CONSTANTLY when together, oblivious to the how similar their personalities are. The only difference of note in the relationships between the shows is that Yozora clearly has the upper hand against Sena--often forcing her to run away, crying. THERE'S EVEN A GUY IN THE LOVE-TRI MIDDLE, IN BOTH SHOWS!

The episodic content is VERY familiar, also: making friends is central to Boku's story but even OreImo had an episode about trying to make friends. And both shows deal heavily with otaku/gaming jokes.
In both anime a 'perfect' girl hides her anime-otaku hobby and is discovered by the male protagonist (Nogizaka: classmate, OreImo: Brother) who will support her and start exploring the subculture.

Male protagonist and storyteller, while the story is actually about a tsundere girl who walks over them and terrorises them. Both guys are cynical and comical, without them realising it.

Watashi is the OreImo only reality can offer. What this means is Watashi's sister heroine isn't beautiful, isn't an athlete, isn't at the top of her class and just generally doesn't have the world at large fawn over her. In OreImo acting bitchy whilst having a sexual fetish typically associated with fat otaku men is rewarded, and the icing on the cake is a doormat brother willing to do anything to appease her--incest not withstanding.

OreImo delivers as far as entertainment goes. This is true. But after following Kirino's tsundere self down the road toward incest for long enough, it makes a nice change of pace to see Watashi's socially awkward sister heroine have to practically blackmail her brother into just talking to her as she deals with being a weird outcast in comical fashion.
Both are mainly focus on Dating Sim game/Visual Novel
Main character in each is deeply interested in adults game and tend to distinguish 2D and 3D world clearly
Two anime with prospectively the most epic titles are all about incest.

OreImo is about a younger sister and her friends trying to get into an older brother's pants, or at least that what we wish to see in the show.

Non-OreImo which I don't know the official abbreviation of its title is written by former erotic manga writer. Story isn't its strongest suit, unique art direction in manga is non-existent in anime but you are still suggested to watch this if you loved OreImo. They both linked together by incest.
