'Beastars' Manga Author Paru Itagaki Announces Marriage

Manga author Paru Itagaki announced her marriage on her official X (Twitter) account on Sunday.

"I got married!" Itagaki posted. "The foods journaled in my 'cooking diary' for the past three years were actually made by my husband. I would like to continue drawing fun manga fueled by my husband's cooking."

Itagaki made her debut as a manga creator when she began serializing her Beast Complex manga in Weekly Shounen Champion in March 2016. She is best known for her Beastars award-winning manga, which was serialized in the same magazine from September 2016 to October 2020.

Beastars received a television anime series by Orange. The first and second anime seasons aired in Fall 2019 and Winter 2021, respectively. A sequel, titled Beastars Final Season, is scheduled for a 2024 premiere.

@Sondo I know at least two autobiographical mangas about the mangaka's family. In one case, almost all members of the author's family wrote and published their own manga.

It is very rare that the children of mangaka choose the same path as their parents. Actually, I don't know anyone besides Paru.

So this must mean that "Botabota" was written as a way to get over her fears/anxiety of marriage? Paru didn't seem like someone who was much of an extrovert to begin with.
