Mangaka and Illustrator Hinata Takeda Dies
Writer Kazuki Sakuraba mentioned on the official Gosick series blog on Tuesday that mangaka and illustrator Hinata Takeda died this January from an illness not mentioned. It was also announced in the June issue of Dragon Age magazine on Tuesday.
Takeda was known as the illustrator of the Gosick light novel series and mangaka of the Ikoku Meiro no Croisée series, both of which received TV anime adaptations in 2011. She also published the manga Kitsune to Atori and Yuudachi Pool in her lifetime. Her first manga, Yaeka no Karute, was the manga that received Sakuraba's editor's attention to be invited to be the illustrator of the Gosick series. The very final illustration she drew for Gosick was the illustration for a DVD case (pictured) in 2011.

Since I did not know Gosick (I only remember it being with some annoying/young looking girl on the pictures - which is why I decided not to watch it) I don't really care. (+ There don't seem a lot of other works listed for her on MAL.)
But yeah ... let her rest in peace. Since she was "only" illustrator" I guess the novel will continue? (Main part of a novel is the writing and the writer could just continue and for some illustrations every now and then hiring another illustrator.)
The gosick main series is finished already and the sequel is in another novel label that don't have illustrations. As the OP post said, the last illustration she did for gosick was in 2011. Doesn't change that her illustrations are some of the best crafted and most detailed I've seen in novels.
Little did you know that "annoying girl" is, taste aside, probably one of the most complex and best written female character in anime history.
TBH considering the "sick" of gosick is indeed a play on word with the english word "sick", the joke kinds of feel "already done 14 years ago" to me, but heh.

The illustrations on Gosick were just so beautiful. Did you see the covers of those volumes? How detailed the dresses are even in the black and white illustrations?
I was always hoping for a new editions including illustration from her for the last 4 volumes. Now we'll never get any. Always hoping to see her illustrate new novels. Now we'll never see that as well.
RIP T_T.
