MAPPA Produces 'Alice to Therese no Maboroshi Koujou' Original Anime Film

The MAPPA Stage 2021: 10th Anniversary event announced an original anime film titled Alice to Therese no Maboroshi Koujou (The Illusion Factory of Alice and Therese) on Sunday. The event also unveiled a teaser visual (pictuted), teaser trailer, and the main staff members.

The film will tell the story of boys and girls struggling in an ambiguous world, as they fight their destiny with "love" as the weapon.

Apart from Chainsawman, this is what I'm looking forward to the most from MAPPA's upcoming schedule....I know Mari Okada is gonna break my heart again lol

Wow. They've really got people working themselves to death in the MAPPA mines just for Mari Okada's melodrama hack bullshit. And here I was excited about an original film.

No,they might have a lot of employees but just see how overloaded their animators are. They just should put more people into each of their projects

Well I'm not defending MAPPA but you know they have about 250 employees and including animators not to mention Freelance, they are divided into various teams for each MAPPA anime project. so I think they've been pretty focused on every anime they've worked on.

It will be crap as always, animation means nothing when plot is a typical pretentious snoozefest which obviously will be a good example of second-hand gimmicks. MAPPA is a generic conveyer itself, add to that Okada - one of the most generic screenwriters and you'll get something around 7.5 on MAL since it's an "average" rating nowadays. Of course it will be a financial success since MAPPA using cheapest outsource employees around the world.

I like most of mari okaba work except Maquia. It just hope it doesn't turn out like that. But I have a feeling that won't be the case

I'm thinking it's going to be a psychological romance movie. Trailer itself felt like it's very depressing, but still gonna give it a try. Hope so no tragic ending, but let's see.

I was hoping it would be a real wholesome romance story but you can clearly see what kind of story it is from the very first scenes of the trailer where she lifts up her skirt on purpose so he can see her underwear! *rolls eyes*

Maquia staff sounds good, but looking at the trailer, the story seems like it'll quite dramatic (that scream at the end, whew). Like others have said, Okada is usually quite a hit or miss, so I always proceed with caution :') Stories I've like from her, I've really liked, so hopefully this will be one of those. If not, I guess we have some really nice visuals to look at at the very least (Higashiji 🙏)
