I don't understand how people are saying the staff is underwhelming. Just because they're not all huge names doesn't mean they're not good.

And even despite that, there are a TON of big names here!
Not only did the studio work on a lot of Lupin the 3rd, but there's also some big names like Houchuu Ootsuka, Masashi Kudo, Kevin Penkin, and now a ton more voice actors have been announced too recently:
Kenta Miyake (All Might from MHA) - Rak
Nobuhiko Okamoto (Bakugo from MHA) - Khun
Takuya Eguchi (Julius from Re:Zero) - Shibisu
and Kazuyuki Okitsu (Serpico from Berserk) - Hatsu
there are also others that were announced, but these are the big names.

I'm very much looking forward to this, looks like a lot of heart is being put into it. Like a passion project.

Not a fan of every aspect announced so far, but as a fan of ToG I can't say I'm not excited nonetheless. Read somewhere that Khun's VA is also a big one.

Also, I wonder why MAL still didn't post the other announcement made by Crunchyroll this week. It's never that delayed, and titles like Noblesse and God of Highschool are by japanese studios so really strange how big announcements by them didn't appear here, considering how Netflix announcements appear here all the time.
Yeah, these days I feel like the News Staff in this site is really slow with the news. There's a few stuff that I can think of that's been announced for a few days now (and not by leakers from Twitter, actual sources) that they still didn't post here.

Someone please explain it to me what is Crunchyroll's involvement and contribution to those project, because they are making it seem to bemuch bigger deal than just licensing and streaming.

I'm pretty sure it just means they funded it and have exclusivity rights for it. Similar to the shows locked in Netflix prison. It's just that I think in this case, Crunchyroll actively sought out people to make shows specifically for them, whereas Netflix snatched up shows that were going to be made anyway and funded them themselves for the rights.

That's not how it is. Netflix only ever funded one anime so far, and it's a 4 episode one which will debut in 2020. Netflix licenses anime that air on JP TV and also the ones where they pay more to get it distributed on their own platform.

Crunchyroll has been on production committee of more than 60 anime for 5 years and now it'll fund the entire production to be on its own platform for those webtoon.

I mean, Kevin Penkin is excellent and the character designer is solid too but the rest of the staff... pretty disappointing.
