Y'know, Trigger failed to save anime with Darling in the FranXX. But that was because A-1 Pictures screwed it up. This time, Trigger will save anime and revive mecha!

The only good thing I can say about the trailer is that I enjoy the pairing of soft atmospheric music with The End of the World. Everything else was relentlessly bland. Anime needs to save Trigger.

Visually it seems to be a bit on the sober side. Amemiya's style is usually as over the top as Imaishi's. The Gridman Animator Expo short Amemiya directed and mostly animated was just like that. To be honest, I would have actually prefered it if the new show would be a continuation of that.

FranXX will be over by the time Gridman starts airing.

Pretty mixed feelings on Trigger of all people picking reviving Gridman. On one hand Gridman has a second life, on the other, I have to listen to plebs pretend they understand the Mecha & Tokusatsu genre if this gets popular. Ugh.
This.
Can't wait for the Evangelion/Gurren Lagann comments.

Not going to lie, that PV looks great. I'm getting excited for this show's Fall premiere.

Oh, more mecha.

No, thanks.

I mean they don't resort to CG a lot of times but this works well in its favor tbh.

If what you mean by "its favour" is faster production time & less work for the studio, sure, the CGI works well. But visually, the CGI made the overall presentation uneven because of how the CGI did not blend well enough. I have seen better CGI implemenation, that's for sure.

Oh yeah I won't deny the CGI for this one isn't the best but it does work though.

Oh I did.

But I don't think its anything amazing, but competent enough to make me laugh from time to time.

I just have a mass distaste for the director because of his style of directing which isn't showcased in this much at all, as its focus is vastly different. But who knows.

I just won't have a lot of expectations, as this is just my least anticipated work out of the 3 trigger-based anime.

understandable but just want you to know that Akira Amemiya is one of the most talented young animators out there though, but ye his director resume is average so far

Oh yeah I won't discredit him for that. I do think he has a lot of talent, but just his directing just doesn't suit much for my end so to speak.

Not saying bad, but just a sort of personal dislike. So.

That PV looked fine. And the CGI was not that bad, though no CGI would've been better.
Speaking of CGI, I remember when the first teaser came out, I said the Gridman itself looks like CGI. Then the Trigger fans immediately shot me down by saying Trigger would never resort to CGI.

It doesn't convince me to be honest. Since well... Gridman looks more like it'll probably have some work like Kiznaiver for some reason but it doesn't grip me as much compared to Franxx.

Then again, apparently from what I'm getting Trigger was already done within production for Darling in the Franxx (take it with a grain of salt with what I said) so that might explain why.

Well at least it doesn't look like potential try-hard like Ninja Slayer from Animation (god I hate that show). But it looks decent though... who knows if it will work out or not.
