The official website of the Anime Tamago animator incubation project has announced its 2018 anime lineup. Anime Tamago, formerly known as Anime Mirai, is an initiative by the Agency for Cultural Affairs of the Japanese Ministry of Education to train young animators by funding the production of anime shorts.

This year's shorts will be screened as part of Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2018 on March 10 at the Ikebukuro HUMAX Cinemas theater in Tokyo. There will be a free screening for 150 audience members selected through a lottery that will be held until February 26. A promotional video and a commentary video by screening event moderators Kazuhiko Inoue and Sumi Shimamoto were also released.

Time driver and midnight crazy trail are the only two that look interesting

Ooh, this still goes on! More shorts to watch (although I still have many from past years to watch, like this one with the pig samurai or something).

I don't understand how the various titles who didn't "get" a TV series or whatever expansion were not noticed: I'm sure some were praised or even got some award or nomination for one. THis project was supposed to be about discovering creators, not fictions I thought...

everything looks kiddie shit

I remember when Glénat thought that about Narutaru (the manga) and decided to publish it in my country just to suddenly stop it at the 2nd tome. (or when people criticized Ima soku ni iru boku for having a childish look and being just some kids adventure in another world)

What are the chances that at least one of them will get the reception like Little Witch Academia, Death Billiards in the past? Only two made a cut in the industry out of the previous 28 since 2011. I really hope at least one cuts it this year.
As this project seems to be increasingly more kid-oriented, chance of something like that keep getting lower. It's not what the project is about though so it's not a big deal if it doesn't happen.

But I find it kind of fascinating thinking these projects that promote young animators are getting more recognition through anime adaptations in the form of full length movies or TV series particularly because of the fact that anime itself mainly promotes youth than any other industry in entertainment business.
