Web Anime Adaptation of 'Splatoon' Manga Announced
Hinodeya's manga is an adaptation of the popular Nintendo Wii U action-shooting game of the same title. A sequel game for the Nintendo Switch, titled Splatoon 2, will go on sale on July 21. According to the magazine announcement, the web anime will be made available on CoroCoro Channel on YouTube beginning August 12.
The Splatoon manga began serialization in CoroCoro Comic in 2015 and currently has three compiled volumes in publication. It is licensed in English for North American release by VIZ Media later this year.

Wait whut I thought this was a kids friendly game. So you're telling me there's gonna be an anime now, don't know whether to be excited or not.
That's the same question I am asking. I mean... anime have these demographics so I'm pretty sure this will apply to kids as well. It's not too difficult to get it.

I've always wondered if Splatoon was indeed a good game, or are people blowing it out of proportion because the Wii U had no games to play.
WiU has enough games to play. Whether they are up to your taste is the only thing debatable. And besides, Splatoon probably did get a boost for being a new Ip and being released during a drought of A grade games, sure. But Splatoon managed to not only sell more and more even months after it got released through word of mouth and it's support. It's online community is still healty even now. Those are achievements it accomplished on it's own strenght.
Anyway, personally I love Splatoon, it got me or at the very least more interested into the shooting genre really. Something that game series like the popular Halo, CoD and whatever didn't achieve.
Splatoon's style, weapon choices and gameplay mechanics are just so fun. Yet in ranked mode it can become immensely competitive. It just strikes an almost perfect balance of fun party gameplay and serious business. (Though Kraken/Bubbler special after receiving damaging is just hax)

CoroCoro Comic, where the manga is serialized, is a magazine aimed at elementary school children. The web anime will be no different in its target demographic.
Look up it's lore though. Splatoon is set in a post apocalyptic world O-o'' Seriously unnerving that piece of info is.
Stay fresh =p

Now I highly doubt it would be that great, but as long as it could be fun and enjoyable I'm going to be fine with it.

If they do end up being shorts, I can definitely understand the merit of doing this. Anime has been used as a medium of advertisement quite effectively for some time now, and with Nintendo at the head they can only benefit from this.
Still, it's just an odd concept at its core. I don't really know a whole lot about the manga, but apparently it's coherent enough to develop a web series out of the material.
