Brah have you seen the Manga sales for Tokyo Ghoul which sells about 900K per Vol. plus the merchandise is selling like hotcakes. Tokyo Ghoul is much popular in Japan than the west so I don't know what your talking about. Also the reason the BD didn't sell that much was because the anime was shit and to buyers that wouldn't be a good incentive to buy especially when anime is expensive. So yeah your really underestimating Tokyo Ghoul's popularity.
We're talking about anime sales here. I don't even know how much a manga costs, much less follow the sales.
You should follow manga/LN sales if you want to know how big the title is.
Parasyte,Tokyo Ghoul,Food Wars are very mainstream title comparable to Naruto,Bleach,Fairly tale.Fafner is very popular among anime fans but nothing comparable to those mainstream popular series.
I mean you can expect normal youth in Japan know parasyte,Tokyo ghoul or Food Wars just like naruto or bleach but it will be hard to find people who know fafner.

People need to realize the difference between popularity here and in Japan. Food Wars is getting pretty big in the west, but you shouldn't be surprised if it sells like shit in Japan. Just look at Tokyo Ghoul and Parasite, sure they sold OK but nowhere near as much as the hype over here would suggest.
And I bet almost none of you guys have seen Fafner: Dead Aggressor, yet it is one of the highest selling anime of late 2014/2015 with >10k sales.

That said, Mr.Children is indeed a monster in Japan, but 300k is nothing compared to the old 2000ish sales with their seven digit sales for the top charts. Mr. Children is one of the few survivors from the chart which had been dominated with idols for these late several years.

It shame that one of the best anime in last season, Akatsuki no Yona, get low sales
On other hand, a slice of life crap with school settings like Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata get good sales. Every season we get many similar anime to this generic crap.
Plastic Memories sales is also disappointing.
I can't see Saekano on your list, so I assume you haven't watched it.
I thought it was going to be a generic SOL harem as well, until I found out that the writer also wrote White Album 2, which I expected to be a generic harem. However, WA2 was surprisingly good so I gave Saekano a chance. And boy, I did not regret it.
At first glance, it might look like your generic harem anime. I'm not saying it's MUCH more than that, but it is definitely more than that. There are small things in Saekano which seperates it from the 2-3 generic harems we get every season.
I can understand why Japan likes it. It's definitely not the case that Japan buys every single generic harem anime that's released every season. But they did buy Saekano, and there's a very good reason for that.
As for Yona, it's sad that its sales are low. I heard very good things about it. I've also heard that the sales do not really matter for the show though, so there might be a second season in the future.

10 episode and i've yet to see a single animation mistake or quality drop...Pace is good, story is good...I dont see what would "justify" it if Food Wars doesnt jstify it...
Actually the animation isn't really that good, it's low budget. I'd say that if you compare the anime to the manga the anime is really bland in comparison. People who are watching Soma would probably have no incentive in buying it because cooking isn't something that's interesting and add to the fact people only buy a few select series per season considering how expensive anime is. So to them Soma would probably not be their choice.
Japanese people don't have good taste >:(

Yes it is. The quality of the Anime is good enough to "justify" the blu ray price, or better, this is what i think.

They'll just support it by buying manga and merch instead.

It's a real shame that Akatsuki no Yona is on 19 position!! I want a new season T_T
You should look at the sales rather than the rank. The rank is only a formality of which anime make the cut-offs for inclusion into today's preliminary BD and DVD list.
Akatsuki no Yona Vol.1 has sold at least 4,011 after 2 weeks. This is pretty average sales, but the good thing is that the anime has done its job of advertising the source material (the manga saw a boost in sales). As long as the production committee thinks that a sequel can provide further boosts to the manga, then it should have a decent chance of getting a sequel.
EDIT: I looked at the Oricon BD extended list, Akatsuki no Yona Vol.1 is now sitting between 2,018 and 2,030 BDs. It means it sold 198 to 210 BDs this week. Rank 120 sold 193, so it may or may not make it into the BD100 list on Thursday/Friday for a more precise BD number. That brings the total to 4,011~4,023 after 2 weeks.
Are the people complaining about Yona's sales even looking at the same number here?! 4k for a shoujo especially this late after the anime aired seems like a heck of an impressive number to me! I actually think maybe a season 2 might be feasible if it can continue to put up this kind of number in future volumes (3k average maybe?) if the publisher wants another manga boost. Maybe I'm wrong, but in this context that seems like good sales to me!
And comparing it to Saenai?! Why don't we compare it to Gundam while we're at it? Jeez apples and oranges...

Manga is much much cheaper in Japan than anime, so you'd expect a larger proportion of school-aged fans being able to afford to buy those rather than one volume of an anime. Just check Amazon JP, and you should be able to see what the price is for a manga volume (which includes the 8% sales tax already).
