According to the volume 7 cover of the light novel by Kugane Maruyama, Overlord's anime project is in production. More information will be announced later.

If the quality is similar to log horizon, then that would actually be a good news though.
it's the same editor as Log Horizon (same format as well)

The art from the pic above leaves an impression of a more mature ambiance than SAO , and judging by the number of "level (seems to be something like 10 for the highest level)+ illustration, this seems to be closer from western rpg like baldur's gate than from FF style of RPG.
this may actually be worth the try, who knows.

I wouldn't call it shit right away just because the story happens in an allegedly similar environment to SAO's. After all LH showed us that those kinds of stories can be done fairly well too, you know? Certainly, majority of light novel adaptions are utter garbage and one should be ashamed of themselves for praising them as quality, but you never know, this one could well be part of that tiny minority.

I enjoyed SAO for its stupidity and Log Horizon for its cleverness. Curious what i will enjoy this one for . .
