Bayonetta got invited to Tokyo International Film Festival and there was this greeting session where we can see Sonozaki Rie, Tanaka Atsuko and director Kizaki Fuminori, even Bayonetta herself ! (cosplay of course)

The Thing about Gonzo is that when it comes to making original Anime series the ones they bring out are usually great but when it comes to making anime adapted from Source material such as LN, Manga etc.. they are horrible

Still i will give it a try i loved Bayonetta it as one of my favorite games on the Ps3, so it will be interesting seeing it as an anime even if the voice actor are in Japanese ( Which i hope they it will get an English dub with the original cast later

i loved the game and i think Bayonetta overall deserves more fans
i like her voice in the game, but i can't wait to watch the movie, even if its japanese!

from the trailer it looks incredible, especially the part where she's battling that boss thing that looks like a Brave

I thought people hated the current Gonzo and praised the old one?

Opinions on Gonzo have always been mixed. However, they had a decent reputation (great original works, mediocre adaptations) until the mid 2000s.

The current Gonzo isn't very good, but that's because they're a shell of their former selves. During restructuring, they cut most of their staff and came back as a smaller company.

The pieces that split off are actually doing quite well. Gokumi (A-Channel, Saki), Hoods, and David Production (Jojo, Inu x Boku) are pretty successful. Sanzigen (Black Rock Shooter, Arpeggio of Blue Steel + the CG found in numerous anime series) rules the roost in 3DCG. Graphinica is a leading VFX/CG company. Others are finding their places as support studios that help with animation.

Gonzo outsources some of their work to former employees (i.e. Hoods did the latest episode of Kimi no Iru Machi, Sanzigen and Graphinica handle their CG/VFX). However, much of their stuff gets made by relatively unknown studios.

Oh, so all those studios were once part of Gonzo? Never knew...

So basically they hired some of their ex to make an animation, right? I don't hate Gonzo, mind you. I just don't know much about their history.

Bayonetta had the perfect formula for mindless action fun: great lines and sparkly dialogues, excessively absurd and a lot of badassery. If it was a series, I'd be perplexed, but going for a movie is a-okay.
Also I'm interested in listening to Tanaka Atsuko performance as Bayonetta, she seems like a reasonable choice.

This seems like it would be a great Anime since, I love the game so much.

I'll check this out. I still haven't played the game yet.

Oh my gosh! Just noticed. Tanaka Atsuko (fckng Major Makoto & Lisa Lisa) will be voicing Bayonetta.

Hype this.

I like the character designs and naturally I like the hot chick with the guns.
Don't like that this is apparently based on a game (usually not a good sign) and I don't like Afro Samurai. But I'm still gonna watch it of course.
Who knows, maybe this will mark the beginning of a comeback for Gonzo's better days. Back when they used to take risks and make mature anime that won't necessarily appeal to everyone (even though they weren't masterpieces, some were still pretty good and even great).

Don't really see all the fuzz about Gonzo animating this. It's the director of Afro Samurai, a show that's all style, no substance which is exactly what Bayonetta is all about.

This should be awesome.
And especially for the fan service, I can't wait!

Has potential, but there's going to have to be a lot of changes to make the adaptation work.

Huh. Interesting.

When I was a kid, I was going to a con with my parents, and my mum joked that she was going as Bayonetta.

I thought she was serious, and I think I nearly died.

Waitt what? Bayonetta wa release roughly 3 years ago, if you were a kid back then you cant be much older now...

Indeed, I am not that much older.

Take a look at my profile and you'll see that I'm only 16.

Your detailed explanation should get all those Gonzo-haters and admirers to shut up and listen, because anybody who is broad-minded enough should know, after reading your post, that what happened to Gonzo in the past, glory or warts, belonged to the past. What the current Gonzo can do and its style could be quite different. Everyone should just keep an open mind of what this Gonzo, having undergone painful restructuring and lay low for several years, can do and will do for its first movie venture.
