Welp, the chaos continues. One thing I will say about Sherry is that despite how she looks, she's also very brave with her actions. I wish she had a happier childhood though.

Cid also takes on the leader of the assault force and tbh, it's not funto confront him when he's serious.

With Sherry's help, the artifact sealing off the Eye of Avarice's magic-sealing capability has been worn off, which was developed by her mother, only to die an insufferable death, to get revenge for back then. And once the magic is unsealed, the action begins, and Cid can make his grand entrance with Shadow Garden.

The fire combustion made out of magic that thankfully got Midgar Academy's students all evacuated, and the true culprit: Sherry's own father - Lutheran Barnett. He definitely wasn't the type to do this farce, but after knowing the development of the Eye of Avarice, he set his sights on her, with Sherry unknowing of the vile truth, and utilized its power before Shadow, unfazed at his strikes.

Living for their own justice, that's Shadow Garden, no differences over the world's justice and evil. They do what they must do, even if it's against the whole world. For Sherry, studying abroad is the only choice she has right now, and this is her farewell to Cid, the Shadow who's both a chuuni terrorist and the background character.

A satiable close to this mini-arc.

Just reading a book while everything around is burning to the ground. He is so cool.

Quite a sad farewell. Guess something she needs to do is get revenge.

I just, just hope Sherry doesn't return as an antagonist in the future... She is too sweet to be evil

Cid killing the vice principal in the same manner VP killed Sherry's mom is so satisfying tbh!!

It was quite obvious that Lutheran Barnett was behind this, he was suspicious since the begining. Feel bad for Sherry though, hopefully she'll get to know the truth someday.

I'm pretty sure everyone had a clue that the sherry's father was behind it. Sherry's past really hit the heart. I hope she's not out for revenge and becomes an antagonist in the future. Wonder how everyone's gonna react to Cid being alive specially the Kaicho.

Great animation, Shadow's cloak movements aren't weird anymore, I guess? (but his intro earlier was cool enough, even Rose was dumbfounded)

Anyway, the ending with Sherry was satisfactory.
I guess Cid lost an admirer? We didn't get that cliché "you are the reason I would still like to be here" line... lmao

P.S. I will miss Sherry and the cuteness of her VA's voice. >_<
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

In this episode, the anti-magic field gets shut down, and utter chaos ensues! The students fight back! Shadow Garden (The real one) crashes the party! Then fires are started throughout the school! It's all very chaotic, but fun to watch.

Also, can I just say, poor Sherry! First she sees her mom murdered in front of her eyes (by her father, no less, though she doesn't know), then her father (courtesy of Cid). Very tragic indeed.

It then seems that she starts a journey of revenge to find said killer. Perhaps she becomes an antagonist of some kind later in the story? Who knows.

Battle against Lutheran was good, shadow defeated him effortlessly, animation was good and maybe he has got another enemy i.e, sherry Barnett
I give this episode 6/10.

Yep you should never overlook those sweet talkers, them being the sus breed such an age old tradition.

Sasuga Shadow-sama for that slaughter. Though guess he made a cold-blooded nemesis out of someone too. Poor Sherry :(

decent episode. it was not at all surprising to see that the dad was the evil guy. sherry's backstory was tragic. i wonder if it was the right decision to keep sherry in the dark about the truth. she came to hate the shaow garden instead and she seemed determined to do something.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.
Feeling half happy, half sad.

Its good in the end that Sherry was successful in her plan. Though I expected the enemy to kill the students they started quicker than I expected. Rose really has the qualities of an effective sc prez though and in this case her quick thinking really proved tide turning. The true shadow garden sure made a nice entrance. So in the end Sherry like her mother was being used as pieces in a game. Still i did appreciate Cid getting the true answers from the culprit before the fight. Poor Sherry though not only having to face death plenty of times but also losing her one and only family figure. Even if he was bad guy. With him gone i guess there's nothing left for Sherry anymore within the country. Though im curious at whether will we see her again and whether or not her goal is revenge. Overall a pretty balanced ep that while having a predictable final boss nonetheless did well to showcase Shadow's true goal for shadow garden.

I keep comparing this light novel adaption to the manga version; I can't help but notice the minor aspects that they changed repeatedly and left me with a bad taste. Perhaps the light novel had different elements than the manga.

Sherry feels a bit more capable in the anime. She didn't even ask Cid to go with her and accepted she was on her own very fast. The SG entrance was quite well done, though when Rose kicked that guy and so much blood came out i was confused. Like, it was just a really strong kick. It's not like his head came off or anything so why?
Anyway they really didn't even try to hide who was behind everything in the anime huh? And in this adaptation it's even more vague whether Cid still cares about Sherry's tragedy or not. In the manga he mentions being a bit angry, but here he just says it doesn't matter. So it feels like he killed in that way just for the coolness rather than wanting to avenge Sherry's mother. It kinda bothers me because this scene should be one of the fews hints that Cid still has some humanity left... Oh well. Now to wait a week again

That was probably one of the better episodes in the show so far, but it also left me concerned about the direction of it. The end of this mini arc presented itself with a predictable final boss, Sherry's father, and a lot was revealed about him, including the murder of Sherry's mother. The goal was obviously to power up with the two artifacts, but the real Shadow Garden came into play and destroyed everyone, as expected. The climax was solid, but what I'm worried about is if things are going to get serious from here, because this show is at its best when it doesn't take itself seriously.

Sherry seeing his father die without knowing all the facts is going make her go crazy, and I wouldn't be surprised if she'll be the antagonist later on out for revenge.

Knowing your "father" killed your mother and used you for the past 10years is even crueler.
Shadow spared her from that, and by acting as the villain gave her a goal to overcome remorse and go forward.

Shadow was very Ainz in this ep, not caring about someone's death than actually taking revenge for her.

Well, I as an anime-only would say that the talk he had with the father showed that he has some humanity left, and the fact that he killed him in the same manner that Sherry's mother was killed showed me that at least to some point it was a revenge for what he did to her.

Everyone will remember that fight he had in the arena, or it won't even be shown. I doubt that they will dwell on this too much.

Not sure why he'd essentially intentionally make her his enemy. It's pretty obvious she's going to want to get Shadow for that. Though maybe he thought he was being cool letting himself be the the one to take all her negativity, but unless there is a follow-through on that, he's just leaving her to waste her life away.

It's either that or tell you that your father actually just used you for years without a care after he killed your mother because she didn't want to give him something dangerous.

Amazing episode really well done, the animation specially was really good.

And this concludes the end of volume 1, now I wonder how far the anime will adapt.

The only thing that they didn't show was Rose meeting with Cid after the battle and learning that he is alive.

Yeah, terrorist arc is probably my least fav. Sherry is simply not that fun protagonist, and the anime make her worse for some reason. I do like how it ended tho, just Cid casually talking with the villain. Maybe it's also because the gap between this arc and the next which is my fav arc, is just that big lmao.

Can't wait for the next episode.

The ed tho, I genuinely thought we would get Cid to sing, man this is quite disappointing.

the only thing I can't get my head around though is how he gonna explain him coming back to life unless if he's planning to switch schools really which I don't we're gonna see him do that though.
