| In my opinion no... I am female but I find that my taste overlaps more with male otaku taste. I like CGDCT, idols, high school drama/romcom, I enjoy some types of fanservice/ecchi. Most young women (like ages 15-25) seem to enjoy action shonen a lot, especially if there are also shippable male characters. I enjoy pretty boys too, but I don't really care for action/battle shonen. Josei anime might get high ratings, but tbh it's not the typical anime that young female fans watch. |

I think the main reason for that is that since women are treated so well by everyone, pretty boys who do not act such a way seem different to them and more appealing. | Nope, I have the best taste in anime and since I am not a woman, so women can't have superior taste to men. On a serious note though there is no such thing as superior taste in anime. It's just Japanese cartoons, let people like what they wanna like. I don't see any link between a gender of a person and the kind of anime they will like. Just kiddin, gender doesn't specify who's taste is better as it involves into what anime you liked and everything is different for individuals. Saying a certain shows makes someone having a "better" taste just because someone loves the show you've enjoyed instead of shows you've hated than I am sorry but everyone can say that about anyone for having a "good" taste basing on your own requirments. | Won't women mostly think other women have good taste in anime just like most men will think other men have good taste? Since most men have almost similar taste in anime to other men and same with women? That's why there's specific target audience type anime geared to these and men will tend to not like a shoujo or josei as much as a shounen or seinen, with the exception of some. Maybe if you notice higher scores to anime which you tend to think women prefer, it could be that less women are watching anime in this group so less of them to score which results in a few liking an anime to make the score higher. Maybe women aren't as critical about scoring anime compared to men and will be nicer about how they score, resulting in a higher score for these anime too? |
| "Men vs women" topic got old like 30 years ago. The reason why women-centric shows are rated higher is nothing special. Simply, a show with less members gets higher ratings than a show with more members. The less members the less critics and the narrower range of viewers, which means it will have less "bypassers" and more "core" fans. It has nothing to do with actual quality. |
