What do you do when the plot of an anime gets spoiled to you?

I'm curious to read people's answers as I'm unsure what I would do in this situation. When I say plot, I mean the most important events in the plot. Like X character dies because of X (reason or killer).

I guess that's a good idea. What if the spoiler was 100% reliable information that you just happen to stumble on? (ofc this probably would never happen)

Spend the next 20 minutes trying to resist the urge to send a mean comment to the person who spoilt it for me. I understand why some do it, just wish they would have some more awareness and care for others

Sometimes I'm being an idiot and press the spoiler tag, at this case I still watch the anime hitting my head on the wall.

But if a moron decides to spoil it for me, I can't do shit cause even if the post gets removed I still know what will happen so usually I take a brake until I have forgotten about it.

One time I was on the nisekoi subreddit and some idiot decides to post their deep feelings on how they felt about the ending while spoiling it!! (no spoiler tag btw) I was super pissed. When I read the ending it was still satisfying, but not as satisfying as it should've been

I'd be bummed out for a couple minutes, but get over it and still watch the anime lmaoo

Two lovely examples:
-I knew exactly what was going to happen in JoJo Part 5 and I still bawled my eyes out for every event (if you know... you know....)
-I know way too much about what's gonna happen in the final SnK season and well, here I am. Still watching it with full awareness of what's to come ;-;

TLDR: Powering through the pain and suffering is how I deal with spoilers

I feel you. I have mentioned this story before but I'm sure you haven't read it.

So an instagram account was doing a "Anime fan facts" and my boy decided to spoil the entire ending of Death Note (No spoiler warning/wall). I had already watched Death Note at that time but many people hadn't so they obviously complained at the comments and his response was . . . "Well it's not my fault, the show is 15 years old you should have watched it already"

I either watch a lot of hentai and read a lot of doujinshi so that I can forget that shit and go back to the show again. It works pretty well if you have jacked off 2/3 times.
Everyone has great taste, until they start watching galactic heroes and shit on everyone else's taste

My friend spoiled the ending of Avenger: Infinity war that

Another similar scenario happened when my sister spoiled Haikyuu(season 2) that

Also it is not THAT bad if you got spoiled because the hype increases.
I didn't care about Promised neverland at all but I got spoiled and now I'm reading the Manga and now my hype and love for the series skyrocketed.

I enter denial stage and repeat this mantra: "there is no way THAT happened", but I have a bad memory and I usually forget about spoilers, I've been spoiled on shingeki no kyojin but I was still surprised when a certain event happened

I try to watch the anime as fast as possible until the point that was spoiled in order to stop thinking about it. The same goes in the case of novels.
It also works as a lesson not to check certain places, like the list of threads related to series in this site, and not to write certain key words on google, like the name of a series and the name of a character besides it, for example, since there's always the risk of appearing the word "death" as a suggestion for the search.

Well, to be pedantic, "the plot gets spoiled" is a nonsensical statement, but then again piteous misunderstanding of literary terms is nothing new to the anime community.

As for what I do if I get told of a twist or death, then absolutely nothing. Such events are not effective through surprise, instead by portrayal and meaning. Knowing what happens next won't change the quality of the show's writing.
Well I for one already loved Lain.

My answer is...watch it happen.
That's what I'll do.

I have first read Naruto and spoiled myself when I dont know for sure if Sasuke's coming back or not.

My bro told me that someone whom I dearly love will die in SnK and I knew who it was but still I cannot wait to see it animated.

As someone who goes through a lot of spoilers each day... all I can do is to keep the spoiler out of reach... or obliterate it from existence.

Otherwise, I like spoilers. When an anime interests me enough, it's time to read the wikis!

I mean nothing can I do about that, just pretend it's a fake spoiler and resume the anime.

I get a little disappointed but I've decided it ultimately doesn't matter. I had 3 major events in HunterxHunter spoiled for me before watching it, and I still had an absolute blast watching that show. The spoilers didn't have any impact on my enjoyment.

Exactly my reaction LOL. I hate it when I get spoiled, but I'm guilty of getting super antsy while watching I end up looking up what going to happen or reading the manga lol.

If I get spoiled I try my best to forget what happened especially if it was a sad thing that happened. But no matter what I usually always end up remembering it. That's why I have so much in my plan to watch. I avoid the show that I got spoiled in because I remembered what's going to happen, once I forget I pick up the show though.

If it's a minor spoiler I don't really mind though.

I dont mind spoilers most of the time, when something I really dont want spoiled comes around I am vigilant as can be to avoid anything that could possibly have a spoiler for it.

It is the only downside of not watching weekly since I only binge....you are susceptible to spoilers so I dont visit reddit anime sites, I dont read forums with any topic that could possibly have a spoiler etc. Only 1 or 2 anime a year at most come out that I care about spoilers for. OreGairu S3 was the most recent one.

I enjoy the story no matter what but on super rare occasions I just want to see it in the anime first with out anything being spoiled.

I like spoilers. I only watch certain anime when I was spoiled. It's still better than wasting my time watching episodes only to later realize it's a trashy anime with a trashy ending.

What you should do when someone spoils an anime for you on these forums is look at their plan to watch list watch those anime and then send them detailed synopsis of the entire series with pictures and a detailed play by play of every important scene in the entire series, then read the source material and spoil all future possible content.

That'll show em

Well, it actually doesn't really matter. Yeah at first I do get pissed off AF, but then I just take quite a few deep breaths to calm myself down, and then look at pictures of (no, not lewd at all) Chizuru and Sumi (those who lewd them share a special place in hell with those who like henti with both loli and ugly bastard tags).
Well, coming back to the topic, spoilers don't necessarily spoil fun, they get you hyped up as well. For example, I've been seeing AoT spoilers popping up quite a bit lately like
, but my hype hasn't reduced a single bit, in fact, I'm much, much more excited for AoT than before.

Honestly, I'm a big believer in the mantra "if a spoilers can ruin a story, the story isn't very good". A spoiler can only damage the plot, which isn't my favorite aspect of fiction (that goes to characters for me), and most people like anime for tons of reasons as well as plot. Music, acting, animation, fights, romance, build up, shot composition, etc. Spoilers can't ruin those things for you at all. Even if you get a blatant plot spoiler, it's usually kind of nonsensical. Just ask yourself "So, I know this happens now and it seems I can't manage to forget it, but HOW could it happen?" and then look forward to that! I remember the thing I was most bluntly spoiled for was Bioshock Infinite. I was playing the game and wanting another picture of a certain character to make my phone wallpaper, so I googled the character's name, then I got a Google suggestion that said "[character] is . . . " and then a spoiler. But it made no sense! So I had to beat the game to figure out what the hell that spoiler was talking about. If you can't look forward to that "what"; focus on the "how"!

Spoiler!
I love spoilers. I go around reading wiki, fandom pages and chats/ discussions just to hunt for spoilers. Some obscure series has so less spoilers that I have to sometimes hunt archive pages of some weird website just to get bread crumbs

"A actual good anime could deliver excitement with or without spoilers, even if impact is slightly lesser when spoiled" - This is what I believe

Plus spoilers helps a lot to avoid series which I am obviously going to rate low or hate. So its Useful effect outweighs harmful effect for me.
