What are the odds you think you have at completing 1000 anime within your lifetime? If you have already watched a thousand or more, feel free to share your experiences as to how you got there, and whether it changed your perspective on the anime medium.

Easy and possible within the next 2-3 years with the rate I'm going through them now.

I was rushing desperately, trying to reach the light. When I thought I did, I reached a dead end instead. Then I decided I wanted to enter that light. And at the edge of it, I found you.

Will most likely reach that number by 2022 but right now I'm more interested in catching up to the latest episode of Detective Conan.

If I continue at my pace I will, provided that my life lasts beyond 50. Unless I get into some other medium, I’ll be able to but idk if I’ll be happy about it.

Most likely. Most of them are going to be OVAs and movies anyway.

I actually really don’t know. I mean it’ll probably take 10+ years to reach that mark, and I can’t say with certainty that I’ll still be into anime by then.

me out here to reach 1,000 days lmao.

also, this question is worded quite badly since short 1 min anime are on the same level as 1 900+ ep anime.

I doubt it, as I don't count movies and 5 minute shorts as completed anime, but their own category of animated movies and animated shorts. Completing entire series' takes time and most of the time I'd prefer to go back and memorize my old fav's that have become blurry than to watch something I know is going to be a piece of crap just because it's new.

i honestly don't think i will. 500 maybe, but not 1000.

1000 anime is a huge number, theoretically i could watch only short series and get through the number quickly, but where's the fun in that?

i'd rather watch anime i want to watch, not just as many as i can.

Don't need 3 lifetimes.

It's easy to get there if you watch consistently shorts, low episode OVAs, music videos, commercials, preview/trailer like entries and movies.

No. Watching 1000+ has not changed my perspective.

Now if you're talking 1000 franchises or 1000 days (without watching more than 1x speed), that's a different story.

I don't know.... I watch a lot of anime.. I've only been watching anime for a year and a half and I'm at 203 titles. Idk if that's a lot but maybe I can get to 1000 in like 3 years maybe??

At the rate i'm watching now, i'll reach 1000 anime completed (only TV series) in around 8-15 years but it's proably gonna be around 20+ years since I seem to have less free time for myself as I age.

Why you making watch anime some kind of " way of life " , you just can't watch shows that you like. instead of make some goals " Anime shows I will watch them all " .

1000 anime entries or 1000 different anime series?
For example, One Piece has like 50+ entries on MAL iirc.

If judged by entries alone, I'm close to 1000, you get there pretty fast considering there's enough entries that are just OVA's or specials for series you've seen already.

If judged by seperate anime series, I have a LONG way to go probably.
I dont know how many anime series exactly, but I'm probably around 200 to 300 different series.

It's harder for me to binge anime compared to regular shows, maybe it's because of having to read subtitles and it takes more energy or I'm just way too used to the tropes it delivers.

That said, I have watched more anime than regular shows.

In a matter of time, I effortlessly reached 1,000 anime. One day I woke up and I completed my 1,000th anime, then the life continued and nothing changed. I started exploring anime world in 2004 so it took me quite a while before reaching it.

If I wanted to watch as many anime as possible I would probably exceed several thousands of anime completed.

I'm not sure about that. I'll probably reach it if I don't have any other things to do in my life and if I don't have a change of heart about anime and continue watching it til I get old lol. So I think yeah it's possible but a lil hard for me especially when I started at a later age than others. And also I'm a slow watcher cuz I can be very meticulous, I don't want to continue watching it if I missed some scenes even though it's not that important. :)

If not counting super short titles which are 0 to 20 minutes long, specials and hentai, I guess I'm kinda close to 1000. My anime experience is about 10 years, with a few years on hiatus.
I've watched too much. But I still haven't watched many important things, too.
How my experience changed my perspective? I've become more thoughtful and picky but at the same time a bit more forgiving.

Very easy. 2 1 cour series à week will take 10 years.

I even refuse to watch short series nowadays. Sometimes they are even shorter than big length movies, which is a disgrace.

Probably not. I'm a slow watcher and I usually take some months off anime every year.
But that's okay to me. The most important thing in my view is enjoying what you watch, and not caring too much about numbers.

Yes most likely. I'm 13 and I plan to watch it for the rest of my life and so far not counting any ovas or specials i'm at 400. but its just an estimate that I think I will get to 1,000 or even 2,000 pretty easily. I dont really want to make it my goal, i want to find a lot of amazing animes I can talk about

If I was bothered to watch OVAs and specials for all the shows I could have them right now. I have seen people will less days watched than me what had over 1000 because they watched OVAs and specials which I usually avoid. But I don't really care about how much anime I have in my anime list. I suppose even without that I will reach 1000 eventually, but at the rate I'm going it's going to take a long time.

Hell yes, if you look at it mathematically, I've watched 120 animes (according to MAL which includes individual seasons, movies, ova's etc.) in the past 3 years. If I continue at the pace I watch now it'd be impossible for me not to.

Honestly I don't know. Depends on how much I live and how my life turns out.
That being said , The number of anime I have seen doesn't matter to me.It's more about how much anime I'm interested in I end up watching. I have only been seriously getting into anime since last year so there is so much anime I want to experience , though it doesn't amount to anywhere near that.

I mean I'm still at 4k episodes watched / 300 series completed....

Most likely not gonna happen for me...I'm satisfied with 500 anime watched so I don't even care anymore how much anime I've watched, to this point. Plus, I've reached the point where I've lost interest in about 95% of the anime on my PTW list and I'm mostly re-watching anime now, because no anime (aside from seasonal) are catching my interest anymore.

One day, certainly

Iif you're talking about the number on our MAL profile, then it'd be quite easy for me since I also watch specials/OAV/music videos, they are basically free and easy new entries yay

But if you're talking about 1 000 anime franchises, then... let's say it's gonna take me a LONG TIME at least, I don't even know if I'll reach it
(I'm only watching the anime I'm interested in so...if I run out of interests before reaching the 1 000 mark, I'll just have to rely on the future seasonals)

I'm currently at 478 series completed but if you add anime hentai which I never report I already have passed the 500 mark during the span of 7 years. Add another 7 years and I might make it xD

That's funny coz MAL says I've seen 7777 episodes right now...
