Chief of village! Nice job Senku. That's an important role to carry on his shoulders if you ask me. I think he's earned it though.

It looks like a lot more info dump this episode with the amount of historic storytelling about astronauts. Quite fascinating and important. About time Lillian Weinberg showed up in the show!

Well now its kinda obvious where the Ishigami villagers came from, no wonder they look like the characters we got now besides the people that got petrified. Wonder how this will all go, I sense some drama coming, and I don't know if I can handle it yet if my hunch is right on what happens next episode.

Tbh all humans on earth are relatives in some way or another ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's just on a much bigger scale

I don't like what the story is heading in this episode (and the next one), those astronauts are survivors, the next episode will probably show how awesome they mangage to land on Earth and start colonization, but they're already dead in Senku's time, and I don't like watching dead people, I don't like how Senku will never meet his father again, this is not what he deserved at all.

Makes me so hyped for the next episode. Feels overload incoming.

Holy shit, I didn't expect any of this. Quite a tangled web there, with how the incident happened, and how things went from there... and we still don't know everything.

Baby Senkuu was precious though :D <3

So the Ishigami village are the descendants of the last remaining humans on the space station. Seeing Senkuu as kid reminded me of when I was into space as a kid and build multiple rockets.

I figured this would be the scenario. They were really pushing the outer space thing in previous episodes. Now we see who each of our current characters represent though. Next weeks episode will be interesting, we'll see them get back to earth and repopulating the earth.

Its crazy to think about the process they'll see when Earth basically comes crumbling down in front of their very eyes. Kinda crazy to think about.

Yoo wtf, that actually makes sense. I'm shook from how they connected things.

but when they returned to earth they could have done something about reversing the petrification with all the technology, wtf happened. I have so many questions

This was just amazing. Everything makes perfect sense now. So the people of Ishigami village r the descendants of the six astronauts that were outside of earth during the petrification. Also Senku's dad Byakuya is just great.

Very interresting episode.
Really liked Senku's backstory with his father.
So the village was founded by those who were in space when the disaster happened...
Ruri and Kohaku are obviously the descendant of Lillian Weinberg, but is the father Senku's dad ? so they might be from the same family than Seku ? I have so much questions right now, I'm looking forward for the next episode.

Damn, this was some episode! I figured it'd be something of this sort (related to astronomy) when we found out about the name of the village but certainly not to be this coherent to the whole course of events by any means.

Man, this is just too sad though how Senku will never be able to meet his father though because chances are that he's probably become fossil fuel by now. Fudge, some of those expressions from Senku really dug deep too, I finally see the relevance behind the ED visuals now.

Anyway, the singer in space there is clearly Kohaku's great-great-grandmother so I'm assuming she's somehow Senku's step-mother. God, this is complicated too. I don't see how else this village would be named after his generation. Anyway, that aside, his father had a pretty lively personality. Easily dad of the season, too!

Senku laughing off the early petrification cases though...

Can't wait to see more! So far, it's lived up to expectations so here's to hoping they'll be able to keep up that momentum and end this arc on a high!

This episode had many extra scenes that complement the story a lot. I expected them to explain everything in one episode but it seems that they adapted 2 chapters. And that was very good.

I hope they will adapt 2 chapters in the next episode and expand the story as well. It will be perfect.

I personally like to see the world as is in the present, seeing Zenku fight nature with science is the most interesting thing of this show. Is good to see some backstory but hopefully they don't strtech it too much because is gonna be hard to care for a bunch of characters that I just meet.

Like someone already said, it's the same for us. Everyone is related, but after 3000 years, it doesn't matter.

This episode really explained a lot, and I am glad to know not all of Senkuu's experiments work.

The dad looks like an older version of Senkuu.

I wonder why Ruri and Kohaku resemble their ancestors that much. It's like they received no genes from their father's side.

One of the astronauts looks like Tsukasa. lol.

While I do like flashbacks, I hope we are not getting a flashback arc. It's annoying to wait for the main plot to continue.

I am slightly disappointed that they didn't show us a proper conversation between Senkuu and Ruri.

I am curious to know why the descendants of the astronauts didn't just try to learn more about medicines and stuff using the books that were available, and continue living a fairly civilised life. Based on the current characters from the Ishigami village, I'd assumed they were descendants of people who'd unpetrified after the buildings and everything had already been covered.

Seems like my speculation is roughly correct (since I often speculate things wrongly xD). Pretty cool to see what happened in the past imo, but I can see why people wouldn't like it. If it drags for too long/too overly focus on the past it'll be not so appealing.

Yeah I personally find the character's voice slightly out of place.

Okay, I have a problem with this. 3700 years is way too long for there to just be this little, primitive village. It just doesn't add up. This is too huge of a timeframe. It feels more like maybe s hundred years.

Finally someone understood the scale that this story has. It would be very funny if a village had 3 million years. With 40 people.

and lol this line reminds me of what i read few months ago

Humans aren’t designed to be happy – so stop trying
Humans are not designed to be happy, or even content. Instead, we are designed primarily to survive and reproduce, like every other creature in the natural world. A state of contentment is discouraged by nature because it would lower our guard against possible threats to our survival. http://theconversation.com/humans-arent-designed-to-be-happy-so-stop-trying-119262

Maybe the astronauts landed in a remote area and couldn't find the nearest town?

It doesn't have to be the only existing village, it's just the only village shown in the anime so far.
They were probably sending away groups of settlers every few generations.

This episode was amazing. I always thought that people who were in space were not petrified but must have been insanly scared when they saw what happened on Earth. The factthat it was Senku's dad makes perfect sense with the name of the village. That Lilianne song was very moving. Loved how they faked-introduced her.

This show is growing on me in ways I'd have never expected to, and without even having great animation. I'm completly into the writing.

This episode, while it still contained a lot of the humour that I love, had that bittersweet feeling of sadness to it. =(

Senku's father, Byakuya, is one amusing man and thanks to Senku's efforts, Byakuya finally became an astronaut and was able to fly out to the International Space Station, along with Lilianne, whose song that she sung live back to Earth was really nice and soothing.

The 6 astronauts time was fun and all, but sadly, they had to witness the entire petrification of Earth in front of their eyes. Thankfully, some live camera feeds and the internet was still operating and they were able to confirm what happened to the entire human population.

Byakuya's determined plan to head back down to Earth is the right thing to do, instead of staying in the space station, worrying themselves to death. I have a feeling the next episode will be filled with even more sadness, but also with hope as well. =)
