I want to add some obscure series which are genuinely good in your opinion. Maybe something which western people do not have access to except fan scanalations. Try avoiding rom-com, harem,yaoi/yuri, battle shonen. |

Violence Action, for fans of...violence and action. Also John Wick. Shinmai Shimai no Futari Gohan, for fans of cooking/CGDCT. Maoujou de Oyasumi, for fans of comedy. Kusuriya no Hitorigoto, for fans of Historical. Ashizuri Suizokukan, for fans of Experimental/Surreal/Fantasy manga. Mikako-san, for fans of Slice of Life/Romance. I realized that now. I think when I read it it had less than 2000 readers or something, but that has a long time ago. Oh well, I'm glad it's not, to be honest. |

Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad Though it's in the Top 100 rated manga (#51 as of this moment) on MAL, it's only been scored by 14,000 people. It's a wonderful underdog story about a band struggling to make it big with a bit of romance mixed in, it's fantastic! The anime is actually more popular, but the story doesn't end where the anime does, it keeps going and is just as good or better. The anime actually ends around Volume 10 in the manga, but there are 34 Volumes, so yes, there's a lot more. |

These are some really unknown manga that people should really take a notice to https://myanimelist.net/manga/1744/Arigatou https://myanimelist.net/manga/3258/Haruka_na_Machi_e https://myanimelist.net/manga/3614/Subarashii_Sekai https://myanimelist.net/manga/69995/Shuukan_Shounen_Girl https://myanimelist.net/manga/74789/Umareru_Kachi_no_Nakatta_Jibun_ga_Anna_no_Tame_ni_Dekiru_Ikutsuka_no_Koto https://myanimelist.net/manga/23685/Wolfsmund https://myanimelist.net/manga/56549/Love_Riron There are so many more manga that I could list but that would take forever. All of these are translated too so it's not like people can't read them. I feel people are too lazy to search for good translated manga because of their unpopularity on big anime sites and how most people prefer to just watch anime over reading. |

Ashizuri Suizokukan by Panpanya [url=https://myanimelist.net/manga/66247/Ashizuri_Suizokukan[/url] Have literally never seen or talked to a single other person who's read or even heard of this series. It's such a weird, unique manga and it deserves waaaay more attention. It kinda sorta has a Girls Last Tour vibe? It's not post apocalyptic, and unlike GTL most of it is kind of surreal and abstract and not meant to be read objectively. But it has the same mellow, somber, curious sorta atmosphere. And a lot of if seems somewhat bittersweet even though nothing all that sad is happening on the pagesl. |

Apollo no uta,Honestly the last 2 eps are a bit weak in terms of plot and the art is very cartoonish, but the prologue and the first chapters are a amazing exploration of the theme of love between male and females that i don't see explored at that level in other mediums,so it compensates for the flaws that I said at the beginning |

Don't know how obscure Blame! is but I rarely hear anything about it but it's pretty unique through its visual style and narrative structure which manages to tell a story where often entire pages lack dialogue whatsoever. The author also eventually was commissioned to make a Wolverine comic which does not contain any dialogue whatsoever; it manages to tell a story with no dialogue which is the author pushing his own niche a bit too much but it's in general pretty unique stuff due to the highly detailed backgrounds featured in the work with the author being an architect. Edit: Also it's not really obscure but most people I've seen talking about it kind of feel like they didn't read it and just went by an impression you get from the TV adaptation but Nymphet/Children's time/Kodomo no Zikan/whatever you wanna call it is really not what I expected it to be. For some reason I remembered it existed half a year back and the whole controversy more than a decade ago and looked it up and found out it finished its run and for whatever reason decided to read it; it's actually completely not what one'd expect — it's surprisingly dark and psychologically complicated and not really a brainless loli fanservice comedy at all. I'd say it's mostly just a story about multiple abusive codependent relationships intertwined and the one everyone talks about is just one of them which is also portrayed as abusive and codependent. |

One I read recently, from the guy that also made Prison School, is Ore to Akuma no Blues. It isn't finished, is has been on hiatus for years and it seems that it will be forever on hiatus, but the story and the characters are gorgeous. The story follows Robert Johnson, the guy that sold his soul to the devil in order to become one of the best known Bluesman, and former gangster legend Clyde Barrow in a trip involved in racism, white supremacy and southern horror stories. If only had more fame... |

not exactly underrated, but so goddamn underread/unknown??? Kanata no Astra i read it recently and its one of my top 3 favourites along Attack on Titan and Yakusoku no Neverland also gets an anime adaption this july so it will probably become more popular if they adapt the whole story, should probably fit nicely in 24 eps since it only has 49 chapters i fell in love with this manga so much that i wrote my first review for it maybe you will enjoy it too! |

Nice review by the way :) @OP You can't go wrong with Kamimura as long as he's responsible for the story and not just working as an illustrator. Strong women breaking taboos as well as fighting and rebelling against patriarchal structures and conventions in post-war Japan is rarely depicted any better. I'm not sure about scanlations though, but you can buy most of his best works in French. |

Manga by panpanya - Ashizuri Shizokukan , Kani ni Sasowarete (this one actually got an English release recently), Chingyo. Real hidden gems, especially for fans of surreal dream-like manga. And from manga I haven't seen even English scanlations of - Isobe Isobee Monogatari (really good comedy imitating the style of old Japanese drawings), Toripan (Lied back peaceful slice-of-life manga about the protagonist's life in Hokkaido countryside and her observations on birds and more, it gets really fun and has some real deep philosophical moments, it actually left me laughing like crazy from seeing a bird's behavior and almost crying because of a row of simple sunflowers getting cut down. The mangaka's got talent there, not many can pull that kind of thing off. It's something that should get noticed by scanlators and licensors, it's just not fair it stays so unknown.) Also, Tongari Boushi no Atelier that was already mentioned. I assumed it to be more popular since I saw the first volume in Spain's bookstores, but it wasn't! The art is just gorgeous and the story is good, it's like Fullmetal Alchemist and My Little Witch Academia vibes in a setting with a lot of effort put into it. |

Never heard of it before finding it in a library though it has 6k members on this site, Green Blood is a cowboy/mafia (gang in this case) story with some nice plots elements added in. I really liked the art, the author also worked on Rainbow (Art) which is a slightly more popular manga with an anime adaptation. Hoshi Mamoru Inu, very wholesome it gave me a lot to think after I had finished the first volume. You can read the sequel too, it adds a bit more and makes the story come full circle. Inspector Kurokochi is surprisingly low on members but it is a quite interesting police mystery with a really interesting duo, Shingo the pure and innocent newbie and Kurokochi the filthy, corrupted black sheep of the police department. The writer worked in collaboration with Naoki to make Billy Bat. |

Fumetsu no Anata e/ To Your Eternity, the journey of a mysterious immortal being. It's very heartwarming and have some good action. Giant Killing, it is football/ soccer manga about managing underdog team. The main character is the manager so the conflict more seinen-ish.The characters are very interesting and funny too. Act-age, a gril who got opportunity to chase her dream of becoming an actress. It is about profession and its competitive acting world, its like bakuman but in acting and got one of the best Lead Female MC in my opinion. Asadora!, just read it, it is from Naoki Urasawa-sama. |

Yome ga Kore na Mon de. - a cute slice of life about a man and his alien wife. Kanojo no Carrera - I fucking LOVE this manga, even tho not even a quarter of it is translated. It follows a girl who inherits a Porsche after her father does, and the everyday hijinks that ensue when you give a high maintenance sports car to someone who doesn't know a thing about cars to begin with. There's nice attention to detail on how the cars function, and as it goes on more cute girls with their own European sports cars join in. I'm really holding out hope translations for this get picked up again at some point. Omae wo Otaku ni Shiteyaru kara, Ore wo Riajuu ni Shitekure! - this is pretty much an "Otaku x Gyaru" reskin of Toradora with less drama, but it's a cute and lighthearted read. Would watch if it got animated. Renai Senshi Shuravan - one of those mangas that unfortunately got axed, shame too cuz this had potential to be fairly long-running. At least whats out is a fun action romcom about a toku hero who's secretly dating the villain boss' daughter. Spider-Man - a strangely dark and edgy take on the webslinger, it's pretty much a version of Spiderman where he never had an Uncle Ben figure. Has some fairly fucked up stuff in it and feels like it took influence from Go Nagai's works. |
