| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Okay, so the preview lead me to believe that they won't show WWIII, but in this episode, they actually did O_O But it was incredibly condensed to the point where it seems like it was just a tease and they'll show more of it some other time.  But yeah, the problem here is that Okabe experienced Reading Steiner despite not sending any D-mails. Someone else must've changed the divergence, causing some of Okabe's memories to not match with his surroundings. In this episode, we also get to know about Shiina Kagari, Mayuri's adopted daughter in the future. Both Kagari and Suzuha were supposed to be together, but by the looks of it, they got split up. But at their current time, Kagari should be much older, but still present in this timeline. So there's still a chance of finding her.  Gotta say though, the directing style in the Kagari/Suzuha flashback closely resembles the original anime's style (especially with the cicadas chirping). That goes to show that they can choose to direct S;G 0 in a similar style... but it ain't summer in S;G 0 XD But they're jumping quite around with the VN material (not that it's a bad thing). 2/3 of the Stray Sheep chapter was adapted in this episode. |

| Shiina Kagari...interesting. A pretty insightful story coming from Daru. A good info dump episode but definitely felt more like a tease development. Really like the atmosphere of the S;G psychology as usual with the small bits of comedy added in. I still want to see more of Hiyaji's past with Kurisu soon.  |

| They made quite the plothole already. They showed the war-torn 2010 where (VN spoliers) but it couldn't be any more rushed. It was one of the most impactful and most interesting parts of the novel. When that world showed itself in the VN, that feeling was indescribable. As Okabe explored that world, we learned more and more about how The actual plothole is that Okabe saw that world, and he then just went back to moments after his mental breakdown in front of Maho. That makes zero sense, if he spent any time at all in that world, he would have been in a completely different time and place when he returned. Reading Steiner does not move him in time, it only moves him and the world to a different wordline. Time flows linearly and continually if we only consider Reading Steiner to be a factor, and not Time Leaping. This is even more weird if we consider the fact that I don't see at all how they could explain that no time elapsed when he returned to a worldline without the early war. |

| This was an interesting episode with a lot of information. The first scene showed the future, the world in chaos. We got our usual Okabe and Amadeus interactions. Is always enjoyable to watch them. The new information that Suzuha talked was intriguing. Mayuri have an daughter wow. The new character is very mysterious. I enjoyed the flasbacks used in the episode. That ending with Okabe finding an old enemy and remembering the past. Veey good scene in terms of psychology. |

No it did not. That was not the future, it was just not explained at all what it actually was, other than hints that it was his Reading Steiner. That scene is about 2 hours in the visual novel, not 2 minutes. |

What actually happens in the rooftop is a minor world shift (as hinted by Okabe not remembering he recalled Amadeus). |

Of course, more things are bound to happen sooner or later. But if you care so little about everything else until things reach that point, in spite of the fact that most characters have already been established in S;G, then I don't think this series is for you. |

If you pay attention you can see that the instance where he experienced WW is different than what he felt in the rooftop. See how he wakes up from the dream BEFORE the opening than AFTER the opening he is back at that rooftop with Maho. They're different instances, you can see throught the episode that Okabe doesn't know anything about the WW, because he hasn't experienced it yet. What actually happens in the rooftop is a minor world shift (as hinted by Okabe not remembering he recalled Amadeus). Thank you, it did not occur to me to think about it that way. I still don't see the reason to show that to us now and in this way, but it at least makes sense. |

The episode also cut to Suzuha's flashback with Kagari without any usual flashback transition which also raises an eye brow at the directing, but nothing ground breaking. |

Actually i think that was Edit : Seems some people still lost at what's going on so i will strip the spoiler tag since it isn't spoiler just VN exclusive Visualization of the scene at the start of the Stray Sheep Chapter In the VN, we only get some narrative while in the anime we lucky to get some visualization    so i think nothing really out of context, changed drastically, or plothole (at least for now) and i'm happy with this episode so far. solid 8.5/10 for the very least |

| Great episode. The opening sequence was pretty hard to watch. War is harsh :( I thought the committee was gonna show up this episode or was the person who was happy that they finally secured Okabe a part of the committee? Interesting bit that someone else able to perform some sort of D-Mail esque action that activated Okabe's Reading Steiner? There's some inconsistency in his memories now I guess. As Amadeus seems to say he called her back after hanging up. Daru acting like a Dad and then boasting about it was funny. XD Shiina Kagari? Mayuro's adopted War Orphan, interesting. I was first thinking along the lines of Kagari being Kurisu herself but if that were true, then that would be a time paradox and then I remembered that Kagari is 22 years at this point while Kurisu was 17(or 19?) so I guess it's safe to rule out Kagari not being Kurisu herself. That said, I'm suspicious that Kagari is the one causing the D-Mail-esque activities that are activating Okabe's Reading Steiner. I'm assuming that ghost rumor refers to Suzuha asking about Kagari in the past post the point where they lost contact with each other. Moeka's back? This spells trouble. |

Everyone who's enjoyed the visual novel has been enjoying the series as well. On top of that, this adaptation isn't exactly a carbon copy of the visual novel and will probably diverge from the source material a whole lot more than the original S;G ever did. And because of the way the routes work, I don't think they can include all the great scenes in this adaptation. So go ahead and enjoy it. |

Its either that, or there was a flash foward teaser for the extended scene. Either way, Its not a huge problem. They pretty much had to cross over now if they wanted to adapt the new years scene so I can pretty much understand the rationale behind the way things went this episode. |
