The eccentric, self-proclaimed mad scientist Rintarou Okabe has become a shell of his former self. Depressed and traumatized after failing to rescue his friend Makise Kurisu, he has decided to forsake his mad scientist alter ego and live as an ordinary college student. Surrounded by friends who know little of his time travel experiences, Okabe spends his days trying to forget the horrors of his adventures alone.

While working as a receptionist at a college technology forum, Okabe meets the short, spunky Maho Hiyajo, who
later turns out to be the interpreter at the forum's presentation, conducted by Professor Alexis Leskinen. In front of a stunned crowd, Alexis and Maho unveil Amadeus—a revolutionary AI capable of storing a person's memories and creating a perfect simulation of that person complete with their personality and quirks. Meeting with Maho and Alexis after the presentation, Okabe learns that the two were Kurisu's colleagues in university, and that they have simulated her in Amadeus. Hired by Alexis to research the simulation's behavior, Okabe is given the chance to interact with the shadow of a long-lost dear friend. Dangerously tangled in the past, Okabe must face the harsh reality and carefully maneuver around the disastrous consequences that come with disturbing the natural flow of time.

Like the original series this anime became an incredible masterpiece for me
Okabe who was a happy crazy scientist at the start of Steins Gate appeared as a sad helpless and worn-out person in Steins;Gate 0
This affected me deeply
I can say I liked the story of this anime even more than Steins Gate
There were many surprising events and the final scene really made me cry
It was an amazing scene and together with the music it became a true masterpiece

Is the story unique? If it was predictable, did you enjoy it anyway because you like this genre/set-up?
The story felt very unique to me. It took a darker ... and more emotional approach compared to the original, which made it fresh and captivating. Even when some parts felt a bit predictable, I still enjoyed it a lot because of the sci-fi and psychological themes.

Do you think the art style is fitting for the story?
Yes, the art style matched the serious and sometimes somber tone of the story perfectly. It helped create the right atmosphere and made the emotional scenes even more impactful.

Were the characters well-rounded? Did they have flaws and strengths, or were they unusually strong/smart/stupid?
The characters were very well-rounded. Okabe especially showed both his strengths and deep vulnerabilities. They all had realistic flaws and growth, which made them relatable and interesting.

Did the characters react to situations and events in a realistic way?
Absolutely. Their reactions felt genuine and true to their personalities. The struggles and emotional pain they experienced came across very realistically.

Do you think others will enjoy/dislike this series, even if you didn't? Why?
I think others might have mixed feelings. Fans of the original Steins;Gate will likely enjoy it because it expands on the story and characters. However, those who prefer lighter or more straightforward anime might find it too heavy or slow. Overall, it’s a series that rewards patience and emotional investment.

Mixed Feelings

The time-travel concept seems quite legitimate, actually, with all the scientific terminology used.

One mistake I initially made, was thinking the time-travel concept used here same ass the popular concept of parallel realities or parallel worlds.
But here There is only one reality and world(parallel )don't exist simultaneously, making other world just a possibility of possible future

It even had moments like (spoiler alert!) the line, "I need a 26378x New Gen processor, it's super rare," only for someone you know to suddenly possess it 😆.

I watched this show a long time ago, back when I was just starting my anime journey, and I didn't ... delve into its complexities then. Despite that, it has secured a special place in my heart. Without needing mainstream edits to keep it in mind, the fragments of the story remain, creating a sense of total comfort and quiet reflection.
I advise others to also listen to both opening themes:
1. "Hacking to the Gate"
2. "Fatima"
Both are excellent, creating a bittersweet feeling that overflows with thoughts of that world.
I think I will definitely give it a rewatch once I reach my utopia. I believe that this time, I will gain a much better understanding of the show and feel even more deeply connected to it.

As with the first half of the original Steins;Gate anime, the bulk of the Steins;Gate 0 adaptation has been rushed to the point where it's difficult to care about anything that happens.

My favorite scene from the Steins;Gate 0 VN is the Gehenna sequence. It's simultaneously one of the most haunting and epic scenes I've ever seen in fiction. It's absolute perfection; I wish I could erase my memory of it just so I could experience it one more time.

Yet, for some inexplicable reason, the adaptation team decided to scrap it in its entirety. The lead up has been completely cut out; the scene itself ... has been replaced with some kind of confusing, abbreviated flashback-y dream sequence with zero context. The more impactful part of the scene was cut off from the build up, eliminating the contrast and thereby minimizing shock factor; and as a final nail to the coffin, the initial segment of the scene is depicted very much like the hallucination scenes in the Steins;Gate movie (which itself completely contradicts the games in terms of how Reading Steiner works) thereby trivializing everything that follows. It's almost as if the writers were deliberately trying to do a case study of "how to ruin a perfect scene".

So the biggest selling point in the story has been omitted... for what? I don't know, I guess the anime director/writer didn't really like it.

The adaptation does have some merits. I felt some of the slice-of-life scenes in the VN to be a bit drawn out, and the anime does feel slightly better-paced in this respect. But that doesn't really make up for the downsides... namely, that the most epic scene in the story is literally nowhere to be found, and that every other twist has virtually no build up, leading to most of the story being almost devoid of emotional impact. The ending is still good, but it's not worth wading through 20 episodes of nothing.

Anyway, I would just recommend skipping the anime, unless you've played the VN and want to check out what's different. As a standalone, it's considerably worse than the Steins;Gate adaptation, and not really worth the time investment.
