Ah this was an interesting episode. Tsugumi's father isn't feeling well so we get to see her own little adventure.

Plus she goes outdoors and has a fun time with Iida.
Kouhei's return caused somewhat of an uproar for Tsugumi though lol. Glad to see they made up. Iida's brief flashback are adorable, hope to see more of her past.

The teacher is sick from overwork and lack of sleep, and there's nothing to eat at home. The girl watches the anime. Is Hayami-san voicing the anime character, too? The girl decided to go out alone to get to the eating place. Adventure and her songs (about shark and being hot)...

So they eat canned peach when getting sick. Teacher who came worried for her scolded her for running away. They decided to go to her place instead of going home. Hayami-san's character seeing them amending and forget her cooking. Gohei mochi using overcooked rice this time.

Honestly never underestimate the fantasy of a child.
Tsumugi walking to Kotori was cute and it was nice of those girls to help her with her game.

It's understandable that her dad got angry tho but things worked out in the end.

ADVENTURE TIME!!!
This is it, time for some adventure. And it's gonna be lots of fun. Daddy's out mean it's time for asking "help" from other people, which is... no it's not Yagi-chan, but Kotori. LOL

I don't blame Inuzuka for flipping out, if I had no idea where my child went off to I would be going crazy. He may have stepped over the line a little bit but when your blood pressure is flowing you lose it and I feel like the scene was really well done.

Tsumugi's adventure was awesome though, I love the "Shark" song lol.

Kotori is wife, like can they just get married already PLEASE!

I love this kinds of episodes where we get to see a child's imagination and trying to prove that they can do things on there own or prove they can help. is it weird that I want to see at least one episode of the anime Tsumugi watches? Tsumugi's determination with her sense of adventure mixed with her level of imagination makes for a really great episode and This is definitely one of my favorite episodes so far. I loved every single song Tsumugi sang during her adventure though the shark song was my personal favorite.

Sensei Yelling at Tsumugi is understandable, Kotori trying to have them make up was fun to see, The more I see Kotori the more I want her to end up marrying sensei it just fits it looks like that should happen at some point if not I'll be sad.

Yea that is a scary situation Inuzuka would have done what any other parent would have done if they thought they lost their child. Great episode

We use to walk on the line but instead of sharks it was don't fall in the lava. This brought back some childhood memories haha.

Best episode so far. Definitely don't blame Kouhei for reacting the way he did; considering his situation, as well as how much parents care about their children in general, I cannot possibly blame him for being so angry at Tsumugi for worrying him so much, although I thought he might've slightly calmed down after seeing Kotori with her.

It's exactly what I think about this ep :)
Moreover, that "Magi Girl" cartoon brought back good old memories of "Sailor Moon".

First we see a father who fall sick because of lack of sleep, and the child worried, so the child watch an anime and try to save her father. She go to a very dangerous adventures, the sharks, the heat, and the pedestrian (I love all her song in this scene, sharks song and hot song). And she arrive at her destination, but her hope is fading when the door is locked, she's about to cry, and the angel, her father's student come out from the window upstairs. So she tell the student what happened, and the student give the child some items and escort her, but in the midway, they meet the father, and as expected from me, the father mad at his daughter (Even I'm not a father yet, I think I'll do the same if I woke up from sick and found my daughter missing, I'll be very worried). And the best part is how they make up to each other, talk heart to heart, oh my, this is really a very great episode, I love it.

Overall I don't know what to think about this episode, the moment when Inuzuka yelled at Tsumugi and the next part that she didn't wanted to go home - I didn't liked that - but the rest - its okay. :)

What a mood swing. First I get a full diabetes mode with the imagination and then the dad yells so angrily. It made me feel so uncomfortable, I had to pause the video for a moment to prepare myself mentally for the drama that was about to unravel. :D

This was probably the best episode so far after the 1st one. The anime was getting repetitive, because of the 1 episode 1 meal idea, and it was starting to lose its Usagi drop vibe. Finally some good parent/child relationship that I was waiting for :).

As much as I like Tsumugi, and that little cute imaginary trip she took to Kotori's house, she needed to understand that what she did was a no-no. I knew nothing bad was going happen considering the genre of this anime, but I was still worried for Tsumugi.
In the end it seems like she understood what she did wrong, and they made up. So happy ending~

Poor Kouhei getting sick. Tsumugi on a little adventure. Nice shark song.
She was quite brave going out on her own, but it was dangerous. Anything could of happened.

Glad Kotori was there to help her. Kouhei getting angry at Tsumugi was understandable. That was a bit emotional for me.

Nice of Kotori to ease the tension with making Mochi. They look delicious.

Very nice use of surrealism in Tsumugi's imaginative adventure. The shark song and the the dragon/jet flying overhead. When I was a kid I used to imagine that the contrails of jets flying overhead were rockets, meteors, etc. Kotori really wanted to help father and daughter patch up their incident, but the two made up on their own. Now we know how to make gohei mochi.

So this was basically chapter 10 but completely redone. Kouhei and Tsumugi are actually at a festival with the other kids and their parents as well as Kotori and Tsumugi gets lost during the festival I believe going somewhere to try and win a prize for her dad, and then he finally finds her and yells at her for getting separated from him. Then they cook the Mochi afterwards at Kotori's place once Tsumugi and Kouhei apologize to each other.

Not really sure if I like this version in the anime better or not, but both are really good.

Actually..... this was a mix between Chapter 10 and Chapter 14.....
Kouhei got really mad in Chapter 10, and in Chapter 14, he was pretty understanding and grateful of what Tsumugi did for him at that point.
The way they mashed it up takes a bit away from developing the father-daughter relationship and Tsumugi's overall character to be honest (again, I urge everyone to go read the manga after this, those chapters were really great).
I'll comment on the episode in a bit, but just wanted to point that out.

Update:
Yup, they somehow managed to mash Chapter 10 together with Chapter 14. This still makes sense in the context of the story, but takes away a bit of the touching moment when Tsumugi is comforted and even praised by an understanding Kouhei for going to Kotori's place to seek help (even though she promised not to go off alone previously - Ch. 10) knowing she'd get into trouble for it, but doing it anyway because Kouhei seemed to be quite sick.
For reference, Kouhei getting sick and Tsumugi going out on her adventure was all Chapter 14, and Kouhei was actually too sick to even get mad at her there.

That said, I loved all the little nuances that they make for this episode. Tsumugi trying to solve her dads problem by checking out her Magi-Girl show as reference, that moment she tried to pull something out of her Gali-Gali stuffed doll, then that moment she snuck some ice cubes into her mouth, and especially when she smacked her face to keep from crying. She may be just five or six, but she's already smart enough to use those mini stairs to get out of the house or open the fridge.
She's such a precocious and understanding child, it really does make ones heart ache when she gets upset.

This was by no means a perfect adaptation, but apart from losing a bit of relationship development, I really can't find much fault in this episode.

The gohei mochi was pretty mouth-watering too. Last time I had it was at a shop in Shirakawa Gō. It might not look like much, but it tastes delish.

And as usual...

Ah gotcha. I've only read up to chapter 12 or 13, but I'll definitely be reading more.

It does seem odd for them to skip chapters and combine them for a story like this.

My only guess is because we'll probably never get a second season since other shows like this haven't gotten one such as Barakamon. Also these child voice actors only have a limited amount of time that they can do these type of roles unfortunately.

Let's this be a lesson, always keep an eye on your kids and make sure the doors can't be opened by a small child. The way Tsumugi walks out was alarming, yet her imagination was remarkable. When she was singing the Shark song and she comes to a stop, it sort of reminded me of one of the episodes of Sakamoto-kun.
Cutest Mugi episode by far imo

I don't blame Kouhei for going ballistic when Tsumugi left. Any parent would be losing their minds if their child was nowhere to be found. Perhaps he went a bit too far, but it's to be expected.

And in the end they eat at Kotori's. They look like a wonderful family.

Excellent episode, Sweet and Adorable.

Kouhei fell sick, I was expecting that since it started out with the conversation about how he's able to work that much.

Tsumugi was really worried for her father, Sweet how she drew some kind of inspiration from the anime character she likes. Everyone's probably did that as a child.

Her adventure to Kotori's house was really adorable, That shark song was so catchy. The imagination of a child is truly something special. It's also amazing how children are able to remember the routes to their favourite places so well.

When Tsumugi said she didn't cry, I had to hold back all my tears.(Damn college xD)

Honestly,I was not expecting Kouhei to get that loud. It's understandable though, She means so much to him and her going missing must have had him worried sick. Still it was nice that Tsumugi wanted to get help from Kotori.

Nice that Kotori wanted to help them make up, Her plan was so simple but effective. xD Nothing like food to cheer up people, Glad to see that both of them made up. The final scene with Kouhei waking up Tsumugi was so cute.

The show really does an excellent job of showcasing Kouehi's and Tsumugi's relationship and how it develops with each experience. Really heartwarming. :)

A pretty serious episode when you compare it to the rest of the series. Scary stuff when a small child wanders out on her own. Thank goodness that some people can be very kind.

Tsumugi's singing was adorable though. I had an ear to ear grin the whole time.

Sensei was right to scold her, despite her intentions being good, what she did was downright dangerous. Glad they made up though.

Again, another episode proving Kotori is the perfect wife.

I was thinking the same thing so I had to listen to it several times. Hayami is easy to recognize when she's playing her usual "soft spoken" roles like Yukino Yukinoshita and of course, Kotori, but this one was a little harder to tell if it was her or not. Glad I wasn't the only one hearing things.

Tsugumi's little adventures was nostalgic for me except I pretended it was lava instead of sharks haha.

Kouhei woke up to every parent's nightmare with their child not present so he was in the right to yell at her like that. At the same time, she's a kid and doesn't know any better so I can forgive her reaction to the scolding she got. Glad to see Kotori being very helpful to Tsugumi and her conquest to help her dad. She even helped defuse the situation between Tsugumi and Kouhei, though she didn't do too much as the family resolved it on their own.

STORY TIME
I did this once when I was in the 2nd grade and wanted to go to the grocery store to buy medicine for my mom. I even stole her wallet. At the same time, I thought about the Pikachu suit that was dancing in front of the mall and wanted to go capture it on top of going to the store. I got really lost though and ended up on the freeway. I cried my ass off until a woman pulled over to help me and called the cops.

I showed them my mom's wallet, they looked up the address and took me home. Apparently I was 7 miles away from my house.

My mom then took my Pokemon games and cards away.

Honestly when I watched that scene of Tsumugi struggling I immediately thought "wow that was the most realistic depiction of a children I've seen in an anime". I mean yeah that was selfish but she's 5 and her struggling like that reminds me of my little brothers and cousins who used to do that kind of thing when they didn't want to go somewhere.

I mean it still feels odd with not knowing how long its been since she died but Idk something about this episode sold me on it. Maybe it was his daughter going to her for him being sick or her not wanting to go home but stay with Kotori cause her dad yelled. IDK but I am all aboard the train now.
