Was just watching the raw. Seemed like a nice warp up, but I have the impression that there is space for a sequel. The end said おわり - the end, so maybe there won't be one. Should watch the subs.

^Agreed, they wrapped up events well but left room for adaptations of a sequel, if the novels are continued.

I'm glad that Zarlish got to mess up Fan a bit (even if I do actually like him) before his death. But what, there were like 30 guns shooting at him -_-

Also we finally get to see Jouslain and Fan come face to face.. and well not much happened, but it was still nice to see! :P

This series had it's moments, though it could have been better, it was still an enjoyable watch. :)

Well, it was a fairly decent episode, though it seems like a rather odd way to leave things if they don't do another season. I was kinda hoping for more battles.

if there is a second season my score for this season will go up. if not it stays at a 7.

it was a good ending if there is a second season. and did anyone else get excited when the mother found out when zarlish died. i was so happy, i was like "take that bitch. you wonder why he died, oh i don't knw, you treated him like crap and sent him to his death."

Well from what I heard before, the novel itself should be ended right here too. So, there shouldn't be a second season.

As for the ending, It is not that bad but nothing is great either.

i give it a six for an ending like that. if there is a sequel, ill raise it up haha. well this ending was pretty good. since this whole season was about the beginning of the end for tytania. that end said just that. maybe they wil make three seasons. two for the fall of the dukes, and the final one for the fall of the empire along with its duke. hehe that would be interesting indeed.

Zarlish's death was really the only way that Tytania could end at this point. Killing off one of the four dukes was the only event that could be important enough, represent enough of a turning point for the series, that they could conceive of ending on it. Unfortunately, the death scene itself could have been handled a lot better than it was. My main criticism goes towards the choice of music for the moment. The build up towards the moment was effective, Zarlish was portrayed as near invincible, multiple characters describe him as a "monster." When Zarlish is gunned down does the soundtrack provide the appropriate powerful crescendo to signify the end of this powerful man. No, all we get is the generic "rebel theme" that played in past episodes whenever the story shifted to the Hulick side of things. As a result, Zarlish's death lacked the impact it should have had.

More later.

Decent ending to a very disappointing series. Hajime no Zarlish was hillarious but I guess it served as a symbol of Tytania's power. Hopefully, there'll be no 2nd series.

6/10 overall

It's really shame that such promising galactic saga was mercilessly ruined by many scenario inconsistencies.

Actually, it seems that they didn't even use up all material from the novels. There's some stuff left, not enough for a complete season, probably, but at least that leaves a slight hope for a sequel.

I don't really care about the open ending though, I loved this show, thus 10/10 from me.

Average end to a below-average series.

Though I finally realized who Zarlish's mother reminds me of--the movie version of Denethor, from LotR. In hindsight the comparison's so obvious, with the son dying and the devastated parent sending the other brother to their death, I can't believe I didn't notice it before now.

Average end to an average show.

The episode was (again) full of laws and the fight between the Lord and Fan was so ridiculous (so now they finally shot at him?); also Fan as the Hero killing Zarlish? He did pretty much nothing.
This show had potential and several nice side stories, but overall it was a big disappointment right until the last episode.
I liked the red Lord and the little Princess though (and at the beginning Fan, too, but lately he pretty much annoyed me with his carefree attitude that changed from being cool to absolutely idiotic and useless).

I give a 6/10. That's pretty much the ideal score for this.

To everyone who haven't watched "Legend of the Galactic Heroes" yet: Go watch it. There are similarities but it's 999³x better.

Actually, that has an absolutely different meaning. It's obvious that the "Hero" who killed Zalisch will become an object of hate for all Tytania, so he's basically sacrificed himself in order to not make others the objects of this hate. Annoying or not, he's a pretty nice guy, that Fan.

So another "you acomplished one great battle, now its you to you(the viewer) to decide how it all plays out"...

I am actually surprised for this ending. It was well played out and I dont have any ill thoughts about it other than the fact I hate when everything isn't spelled out for me, atleast while I watch it, afterward I always review and think of holes and imagine it myself. :P

I with jouslen would have said "me to" to when they were discussing about not having tytania around. I was getting the impression that he also didn't like the current tytania and he wanted to change it but if he couldn't he would wish it would dissapear. But those are just my ill thoughts on the matter, they can't be proven or anything..

Second LOGH-level episode in a row, and a great ending (I didn't think they could wrap it up so cleanly) at that. Feels more like a season ending than a series ending of course, but it was still very fitting to the series. 8/10, and deserves a second (better) season badly.

Not enough Lydia... but ah well it was an ok ending I suppose.
Most of the series was pretty boring rlly so it gets a 6/10 : /
The only thing keeping it from having a 5 is Jouslain and Lydia.
Now they could make a second season. But I doubt they will so meh.

Very satisfying ending for me....gave it an 8/10 all the way. The only thing I see happening is Jouslain's diplomacy (and I do think he doesn't like the current Tytania much, but doesn't have enough power to change it yet) vs. Idris's desire to rule all of Tytania. Fan's answer to Jouslain at the end was actually annoying, though, because I really think he still has no good reason for fighting them. The whole thing with Lydia was a more personal issue and he still seems like he's being swept along by everyone.

I really liked this ending. I admit, I was excited for the series more when it was announced, but there is always room for more, be it a second season or just a few OVA's.
There's loads of things left open that hint towards more episodes, so who knows? After all, although the novels where left open there's still the manga.

poor zalish... although i did expected him to die first out of four duke (coz he take action without thinking...) idris is too sneaky to die first before others, Aryabhata had learn his lesson from his loss, and jouslain... he is too clever for dying

well i give 7 out of 10 for this series, i think this series is not bad, except extremely slow pace and i find it difficult for me to like hulick as the protagonist (i cheer for the tytania o_o)

I'm a sucker for pageantry and costume dramas. I guess I kept watching this because of the palaces and gardens and old-fashioned, impractical Tytania uniforms. And the animation tugged on my heartstrings as only retro can.

I wonder if it will get a second season. On some level, I suspect it might be a good candidate for a second season. Television execs are likely to think, "Well, LoGH worked, and this could get the same market..."

What would be better, perhaps, would be for a more distinctive show to get the airtime. Kuroshitsuji is more distinctive, and it has great costumes and sets, even though I don't like its story as much. While I don't hope that it will take over the sci-fi slot, I do think it could overshadow Tytania in terms of costumes and character designs.

Or -- dare I hope -- the folks who made Last Exile could make more steampunk... that would be vastly more epic than a second season of Tytania.

Tytania no-ending has left me in DESPAIR!!!

Nah, the truth is that i found it to be a fine ending overall.

Zarlisch's death had a very low impact on me, i feel that the entire scene wasn't done well. On the other hand, encounters between Jouslain and Fan are always interesting. I really hope for a second season, i would totally go for it (chances are very low but...)

6/10. (It means fine...) Mostly because i didn't enjoyed the soundtrack.

rofl, another hilariously bad episode. How could Zarlish not recognize Fan. Honestly, he's beens staring at his picture for months.

And lol, Fan, you arrogant bastard. You barely manage to kill an unarmed guy who was suffering from asphyxiation and who had just fought ten other people, and you still call yourself "The Hero who killed Zarlish"? And even then, Fan had to order his entire army to kill one guy.

2/10 - this was an awful series. Maybe 2 good episodes in the lot, and even those weren't spectacular. Pacing was wrong, scenarios were ridiculous, dialog was pathetic, characters had silly motivations, and the entire series screamed "cheese"!

Below-average ending to an average show, imo. I never liked Zarlish, he felt flat and weak (being manipulated to that level by his mother never felt natural to me), so I'm glad he died, but the scene was badly done, and I facepalmed when Zarlish didn't recognize Fan, exposing Superman-universe-level stupidity. I never liked Fan either, and all the scenes with him and his crew were boring and uninteresting. Fan never did much after the first episode, and it mostly felt as if he was just a damsel in distress-character. I did enjoy the political intrigue within Tytania and three out of the four dukes, would have liked more of that and less of that annoying kid Lydia who in the end didn't matter one bit.

Yep, of course there is room for a sequel, actually you can't expect that there's not going to be and ending to the events since ep 20 or 21, but i wonder if there will be another one,,,who knows,,,has the studio or the creators of whoever was in charge of this series said something about a sequel? it someone knows that would be great^^

I kinda switched off after 21 because too much fillers but finished it today and they sort of jump ramped up the action you know e.g.

- attack on caves
- massive fleet attack where the smaller force wins
- honest john powning Zarlish command ship
- Zarlish seemingly immune to 02 deficiency
- Lasers only cause burns?

Also Fan saying he killed the bad guy was to give respect to the fallen instead of, sorry we left him in a pit where we had 30 guys with las-guns blast him. Zarlish own zeal for capturing him alive caused his downfall.

Overall it wasn't amazing but it wasn't too bad a series.

I didn't expect this to be prequel type of story. I'm bit disapointed that anime ended before Hyulick even started anything bigger. It was all about him running away. Too bad. however This anime wasn't that bad as many had said. It was actually pretty enjoyable. Also it gives me feel that it was prepering us for bigger main story, unfortunatly that most important main story has not come out yet, i wonder if it ever will. as such its average rating is so low probably because it feels too slow peacing and unfinished.
I say this needed second season with 26 episodes to fix that.

Overall > 8/10

I enjoyed it at first, the main reason because of Fan saying about how its stupid to attack the enemy because it wouldnt do anything, and then he goes and starts trying to beat them, for no real reason except that a girl he was with for one day and who was using him went and died in a pathetic death.

5/10 . . . Maybe too generous but oh well.

Anyways, this series had a surplus of plot holes, as well as the fact they made it using the narrator thinking that the series would be completed. This means not only was their a poor ending, but the foreshadowing was retarded and had no relevance to what was put out there. The series itself was also weak, with very little in the way of actual space battles, and even few still instances of anything other than ATTACK!!! . . . I have yet to seen how Fan was supposedly a Genius tactician, he was more like a 1 trick horse, which, actually gave me false hope about how this series might just be a duller version of LoGH. After seeing the entire series though, I would like to note that this is nothing like LoGH other than they both take place in the future, and have space travel. The series was sloppy at best, and definitely wouldn't recommend, I think that the sub 7 rating it has on MAL is justified after seeing the series through to the end (initially thought it was because of disappointment due to comparing it to LoGH but now I highly doubt that.)

Really? I liked her. Did you listen to english dub or something? I watch it in japanese and she's endearing and I think she has lots of potential storyline-wise.

I just hate how they ended it with one of top characters I liked getting killed so miserably by weaklings and now no sequel is on the way so it's kind of a down point for me, haha. I'm getting to the point I may turn to reading the manga or novels out of desperation for some closure. Something I never do, except in the case of Berserk because no sequel had come out for decades (but then ironically, the same year I decide to, they start making the remake movies that came out recently).

I feel like it's the one show I want a sequel from the most, even though I know it's not the highest rated. It has some of the potential of LOTGH but without the closure it feels like such a shame. If had 2 or 3 million lying around I might blow it on a sequel or on a new anime similar but better if that's possible. I just love that it's a proper space opera without the endless gundam machine stuff.

Problem is one might not see a return on investment. It's a shame this genre isn't better loved. Does anyone know if any equal or better space operas came out in the past few years? Seems like nothing recently compares to LotGH, Code Geass, or Tytania even. Has there even been any decent, serious, space opera put out at all in the past 5 years? I'm feeling starved!!

Is this genre dead? You'd think with all the craze over space travel and going to Mars lately that it'd do better...

An anime with amazing potential. At episode 22 i was a bit confused and worried, wonderering how the hell they would wrap this up in 4 more episodes. I checked the episode 26 thread just to glance over if there was an ending and read that it was a nice warp up. What a disappointment. I have long learned never to trust the first few posts on a episode thread on myanimelist, so i was dumb. This series wrapped up exactly nothing. An arc was concluded, but nothing changed. What a truly disappointing anime.

Tytania a forgettable anime. The anime suffers from being too long. They should have made it 13 episodes, to speed things up.

Even though its from the same creator as LOGH, the difference between Tytania and LOGH is that LOGH has class and told a story that must be respected, while Tytania (being made in 2008) made sure to cater to Otakus, with some anime-personality characters and how Fan was always too goofy.
