I thought you could delete threads on MAL? Or is that not possible? Maybe you could ask a moderator to lock it for you, so no one else can comment on it. Although I'm not sure if that's possible, either.

Yeah, there is a big difference between 'similar' and 'rip-off', but not just on MAL. Similar is like Death Note and Code Geass. Rip-off is like Kamisama Kiss and Inuyasha.

Hi I very recently started watching anime and I realized I want to watch shows that feature incredible characters that are experts in strategy as in Mustang in FMA Brotherhood or Leluch from Code Geass. I saw in a post that you have similar understanding so I was wondering if you have any you could recommend that are similar to that, which you liked. Thanks

I liked that series because it didn't have the whole annoying romance thing going on and Hachiman is kind of like me. I loved welcome to the N.H.K because of the fact that it has a character like Misaki, who's had so many troubles and still looks forward to life. Yeah, I've been trying to learn Jap too- I actually got a Manga on how to write Japanese. >.> But it's so hard to write. Eh, I don't see myself as a Hikikomori anytime soon but I don't keep so many expectations for life since I don't like that gut wrenching feeling of disappointment, later. And I don't have a lot of friends but I am always a little paranoid about real people because they are never how they seem to be, so it's best to keep away from them.

A random anime suggestion if you like stories revolving anti-social characters.
I don't know if you might like it or not but I think it's worth a try.

Nice Nagi no Asukara review.
Even though I would give it around 7-8, I do understand how you feel and why you rated it 3.

On second thought, my top anime recommendation to you is Stand Alone Complex. It takes a few episodes to get into the main plot, but is definitely one of the best and most sophisticated anime of all time.

Watching Geass, I figured that:
the Emperor's power was symbolic of the power to rewrite history, that is, as in 1984
Leleuch's power was symbolic of charisma, with him ultimately gaining the power to impose his will on the world itself
I also figured that the Emperor's plan was actually VV's plan, made as a sort of revenge against the universe, with VV picking Charles and convincing him to do it.

Ryvius and Planetes, if you didn't know, were by the same director as Geass.

I had already started to get the impression that Japanese women have a somewhat higher baseline level of insanity, but dying in 6 months? Wow. I'm not sure where that comes from, but I guess it comes from somewhere.

Statistics do say that Japanese do have less sex and more adultery than pretty much everywhere else.

I had heard that japanese used cellphones more than computers these days, but I might have underestimated the extent of that.

I hadn't heard about korean women playing video games and watching anime like that. I had heard that the opinion of america is higher in korea than japan.

One thing you didn't mention is hangul vs kanji. Kanji are evil. Do you have any advice for learning korean? I know more japanese than korean currently, because, well, anime is in japanese.

I get the impression that China has some problems. I had heard some good things about women in Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, and some places in Europe. If that's true, after hanging out in Korea and Taiwan for a while, the girls you would find in America might seem second rate by comparison.

Koreans do work more than Japanese now - that is, as much as Japanese used to work.

I think 100 years might be an overestimate, though.

I am somewhat concerned with the possibility of dealing with investors in the future, which is one thing Japan might be a better place for, but of course Japanese investors are institutional and conservative compared with American investors.

I probably will make it over to Korea eventually. I don't want to go over there with nothing and work for en evil english teaching company, though.

"Amazingly high" compatibility it says. We only have 13 shared shows though. -_-

Looking at your list, you might like Bakemonogatari, Index, and Ryvius.

You seem to be entirely correct about japanese girls. What about half japanese girls, though?

Traveling is definitely the best way to learn new languages, and yeah, high school classes seem rather useless. I'm more of an internet person than a travel person, though.

If you can pick up girls in computer cafes and libraries, I'm impressed.

Wow, well for me, I'm only going to bother myself learning Japanese, I gave myself a 3 year cap but I think I can become fluent less time than that.
EtherSword Oct 3, 2009 3:05 PM
So, do you already know some of the Japanese language? I'm actually learning right now at my own pace. I have more than half the hiragana down and I'm understanding the sentencing structure better.
EtherSword Oct 3, 2009 4:19 AM
Heh, interesting information. Well, one thing though, I'm not planning to have a relationship with anyone though, I just would rather be in Japan because I love the culture there. But if I do happen to come across some good Japanese girl, I wouldn't mind that but I'm not counting on it though.

Yeah, I like Inner Moka over the normal one.

You know, in fact I don't really like very many roles that Nana Mizuki has done, my only favorite one of hers is Fate Testarossa. Who is a little bit of a dandere, she shows little emotion and everything. But I only mentioned Nana because I'm obsessed with her singing voice. XD Yeah, I do like a variety of characters but I get really picky with that too. Not with kuuderes/danderes, if there is one in the show, all my attention goes to that character hoping for lots of screen time of that character. But I only like very little few of tsunderes, I like them but I'm really picky about it lol. I also like your outlook on characters RL, your preferences are awesome. In fact, I think I have the same preference but I'm only going for Japanese girls though and yeah, they are going to have to be a kuudere or dandere type personality.

To go back in what I was saying about screen time for a character. I have 2 favorite characters from School Rumble, Yakumo and Eri Sawachika, Yakumo is dandere and Eri is a tsundere but if I were to choose for 100% screen time for a character, it would be Yakumo and I wouldn't mind being ignorant about Eri's special moments in the anime but since I seen them and like those moments enough, shes part of my favorite character list anyways. And for other shows, Yuki and Tabitha, I love it when they are in the spot light, my eyes don't even close, all my focus is in the scene and what's going on but after their moment is done, I get a little bored.

"There's nothing cuter than an asian dandere stalker... NOTHING cuter"

QFT.

So, how far are you in Rosario? Also, Moka's VA sings the opening and endings and there is both actual videos (PVs) of her doing the opening songs too, (I just wanted to get that out there >_<)
EtherSword Sep 30, 2009 3:25 PM
Hi, I probably should mention about Rosario + Vampire, it contains very little plot but what's great about it is the characters though imo. Also, you will totally love Mizore, how can you not love a character like this:
(I guess spoilers in part 1 of the video but I don't think it's a big deal and you don't have to watch it either lol. It's just a taste of her personality that everyone likes about her.)

I also like your favorites, there are 4 people on there that I like, I think I also have a thing for stalker type characters too lol.
