So MAL finally starts locking news threads that are only a few weeks old? I wonder where was the announcement of this change? Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

Shingeki seems to have dropped out completely now after months of dominating the manga sales. Good to see Campione and DxD there. Can't wait to read them. Mahouka and AW still selling well for the 3rd week. And Owarimonogatari strong. You'd think it's the final volume because of Owari(end) in the title. So is it ending already since it's the final season? |

Go, go, go, Nanatsu no Taizai. First time I'm seeing Sidonia no Kishi in the charts. Feels good, a shame though that it isn't selling better. Noragami <3 |

Mahouka vol 12 is now above 9 and 10 in terms of recorded sales from the weekly rankings. Slightly more than 6k down on volume 11, though, but it will probably reach similar numbers to that next week. |

It's nice to see Vagabond doing well. Contrast this with the anime industry where only T&A sells and where adult characters are nonexistent. |

High School DxD LN still doing well, nice. I hope Sora no Otoshimono ranks a bit higher next time though. I should also probably try Vegabond in the future.. Thanks for the news! |

So is it ending already since it's the final season? Owari is not the final one as already mentioned there are at least 2 more books coming. And it feels nothing like an ending. But it is good other than the fact that the red color of the book is wrong, more like tuna sushi than the color of the books that Kanbaru has in her warehouse which matches the other 14 I have. Anyone else complaining about the color being more like maguro than shinku? |

These days the female otaku buying anime seem to prefer Free! and UtaPri to anything shoujo.Kimi ni Todoke S3 when? I was wondering, which product has a higher price? LN or Manga? Since I noticed that top popular LNs like New Testament or Monogatari sales are at most, 1/5 of popular mangas, like say Silver Spoon, Kuroko, et cetera... |

Some manga is written by one person and drawn by another. Nisioisin just wrote Medaka Box for example. Some artists sometimes write and draw but other times just draw. Manga is usually serialized. Novels less so, probably easier without weekly or monthly release pressure but light novels are still very fast paced. If only novels came out this fast in the west... We wait years for sequels here. A good number of mangaka work on several simultaneously but few novelists seem to do this until they are starting a new one when the last and first may come out at the same time. I suspect novels are cheaper to print but more pages might make them similar. |

Well there is also because it is one of the starting shoujo romance that was actually good in the past. I mean, take a look at Kaichou wa Maid-sama, it's cliche, but it was so popular because it was done in the past, and not the recent years. Not saying that it's popularity is not justified though. |

Owarimonogatari may even end up being three novels! In the last line of the atogaki, Nisioisin says he's thinks he can try hard to avoid doing a middle volume between the first and last ones but that tells me he actually thinks it will need a middle volume... so Monogatari may not be over for a while yet: このあと物語は下巻へと続くわけですけれど、上巻と下巻との間に中巻が挟まらないように頑張りたいと思います。 |

It is larger format, has a box with illustration and costs 1500 yen/copy. Hard cover novels cost a similar amount.I was wondering, which product has a higher price? LN or Manga? Since I noticed that top popular LNs like New Testament or Monogatari sales are at most, 1/5 of popular mangas, like say Silver Spoon, Kuroko, et cetera... Most light novels and manga are 400-700 yen or so but some can be more. Best selling manga do sell more than best selling novels. Not really surprising that more people buy comics than novels. You can read manga very quickly, novels take longer, more of a time investment. so manga should be more profitable than light novel ? i would rather be a Mangaka then. Drawing is more time-consuming than writing, I'd say. They often need assistants for the backgrounds and such just to keep schedule, and those don't work for free I assume. And seeing how one manga volume costs less than one LN volume I'm not sure I follow the math here. he says " Most light novels and manga are 400-700 yen or so but some can be more. " LN and Manga costs the same. I figured Manga were more on the 400 yen side and LNs more on the 700 yen side. But yeah, you're probably right. Still I'm pretty sure it's less time-consuming to produce a volume of LN than a volume of Manga. |

There are plenty of manga that cost well over 700 yen (eg. yuru yuri 900 yuyushiki 860), whereas light novels are typically around 600-650. I'd say manga probably has slightly higher average prices from my experience, but they're fairly similar - but manga seems to vary a lot more than LN do. |
There is no such thing as shit taste. Only idiots who think everyone should have the same taste as they do. |

Manga page size, partial color, etc. vary a lot more than light novels which have a very strict bunko format to be called light novels. Those outside of that classification of light novel are more while manga actually covers tankobon and many other formats. |

Interesting, I always figured to must be some kind of mostly arbitrary criteria for LNs to set them apart from all the other kinds of novels there are. |
